summary
Thalia is a willful and somewhat spoiled kid, used to getting what she wants. For a long time she was the only child, which meant attention and pampering from her parents. Rich parents who could afford most things a child might want. Being at the center of attention is what she expects from most situations, and gets very disappointed if people disregard or even ignore her. She likes to be complimented and admired and is a bit of a show-off, keen to entertain her parents' guests by demonstrating her limited skills in playing acoustic guitar or reciting Latin language poems. There isn't much purist prejudice in her, other than the general unwillingness to let go of magical traditions in favour of modern Muggle values. She would not be hostile towards a Muggleborn unless they started listing all the things they hate about the magical world, which would cause Thalia to get rather defensive. For the most part, she is friendly and outgoing, generally not looking to start fights - but always bent on finishing them. Thalia is interested in dueling and enjoys DADA, Charms and History of Magic. She wants to spend her free time exploring the castle, learning new spells and possibly going on adventures (i.e. getting intro troule).
Domhnall, known as Don by his peers, is a boisterous and roguish child. He has the wits to do well in classes, but he doesn't have the patience to try. His older brother had been outshining him in everything when the two of them attended Muggle school, so Don developed a habit of not putting too much effort into anything. It's better not to try at all than to try hard and still be bested, right? Instead, he channels his energy into more exciting endeavours. Coming up with hilarious pranks, sneaking off to explore forbidden areas, and generally just getting in trouble are his main hobbies. With a whole new world now open in front of him, the boy is blown away by all the possibilities of discovery and mischief. While he is not particularly interested in learning theories and histories or cooking up some silly potions, Don is very much intrigued by spellcasting. Learning all sorts of jinxes and hexes is his primary goal at the moment. He tends to get along with most people, although he hates bossy prats and there's only so much meanness he can stomach.

Dueling fan. Quidditch jock. Dark Arts admirer. Potions lover. Blood purist. Born of an affair between the British wizard Alistair Thorne and the Finnish witch Yrsa Mustajärvi, Maeve attended Durmstrang Institute and lived with her mother before transferring to Hogwarts in 2022. Maeve has a competitive nature and a desire to be the best at something. She hasn't yet decided what that something is going to be, although curently her options are Quidditch, Potions and dueling. Seeing her peers perform better than herself in fields she considers 'her own' makes Maeve feel envious. Recognition is what she most craves for. Being outperformed by others stings her pride. While she's not the nicest person out there (egocentric, narcissistic and obstinate as she is), Maeve also possesses some positive qualities. She is quite outgoing and sometimes even charming, when the situation calls for it. Her keen mind and the tendency to 'collect knowledge' enables her to have conversations on a multitude of subjects with different types of people. However, she is wary of Muggleborns; both of her parents have strong views on blood purity and Muggle influence on the magical world. Maeve may be creative and open to certain magical innovations, but she values traditions. Allowing children of non-magical background into magic schools, and later into the magical societies, only serves to corrode traditions and endanger the secrecy of the wizarding world. With that in mind, she is unwilling to associate with Muggleborns, even if she doesn't dare to speak loudly against them.
In 2022, Silvia transferred from Salem Academy to Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor. After two terms - followed by a public reveal of her part-Veela abilities, which brought more negativity than she could handle - she transferred to Dahshur. From now on, she is resolved to never hide who or what she is. A free spirit and adventure-seeker, Silvia does her best to avoid boredom in any way possible. Exploring, learning, creating - she will take part in one of those activities rather than just 'sit and chill'. Even though she is more on the introverted side of the personality spectrum and can comfortably spend numerous days all on her own, Silvia makes friends easily as she is sociable. She also spends a lot of time studying, since her single-minded desire is to become a curse breaker.
Dean's main vice is constantly seeking and giving in to distractions. In addition to being easily tempted by instant gratification, he is also escapist and bone lazy - at least when it comes to academics. Once he finds the motivation to achieve something, he is more than capable of staying focused and working at it, though such periods of inspired work don't come often. His happy-go-lucky attitude and extroverted nature allow him to make friends wherever he goes. That is not to say everyone enjoys his company or even likes him - Dean has a tendency to tease those around him, make bold statements and just generally speak his mind in ways that can be upsetting, if not outright angering. Currently, his goal is to become a professional Chaser for the Irish national team.

Ever since he graduated from Hogwarts, Alaric has been partaking in dangerous activities. He dueled (legally and illegally), became a Hit Wizard at the Ministry of Magic, participated in the war against Italy, and was a member of Mortenero. In 2013, he moved to the USA and became an assassin, mainly targeting Muggleborns and half-breeds. Years of leading a danger-filled life have made him a resilient warrior, which is what most people see him as. However, following the leadership of others has proven unsatisfactory. The problems caused by Muggles and Muggleborns continue to exist, threatening the collapse of not only the magical world, but the entire planet. After coming back to Scotland in 2022, Alaric is determined to take matters into his own hands. While his close friends are aware of Alaric's views, he tends to conceal his hatred towards all the creatures that tarnish the magical blood. He comes across as more of a traditionalist than a ruthless purist bent on eradicating half-breeds. As many blood purists have learned, fighting this battle openly is not effective in the modern world. Spilling precious magical blood in an attempt to prevail is not his goal, even though it might seem so, given his history of partaking in combat. His appearance, too, tends to be intimidating at first glance, though that is usually outweighed by his charm. Alaric possesses far more charisma than could be expected from a soldier, even though that's who he had been for most of his life. His negative emotions are concealed and well-controlled, giving him an air of stability and cool-headedness.

YSOLT BUTTERWORTH && VALENS SWEENEY Val is a seventh year, but he tends to be light hearted and good natured. He has probably about 2 brain cells so he isn't bright, but he is fun and usually down for whatever. His family is big into magical creatures, so he could probably drag her off to his brother's farm and point out which ones are his favorite.

Hello May and welcome! @lakin & MAEVE THORNE, Lakin here is a third year but looks up to Pepper and is good friends with Roxanne, so it's likely Maeve and her have some common acquaintances the very least. She's equally interested in studying and super curious and pro-active when it comes to learning new things so I think it'll be very fun to throw these two in a thread (thinking of fun threads like: 'an experiment gone wrong' or even 'briefly arguing about a broom compass or book they might both want to get/borrow from the library') These two might be rather similar at times I think, which could lead to some small conflicts - but also to a very long-lasting friendship in time. Let me know your thoughts too, quite sure we can come up with something suitable for these two.
I also have @gemini, who is a professional seeker for the Montrose Magpies. Depending on how much Maeve loves quidditch, these two could also be interesting in a thread. Gemini is pretty much obsessed with the sport and married to her career xD. They are both from pureblood family backgrounds so not excluded their families knew each-other either.
Other characters I have are @bailey and @callaghan . Open to any suggestions with them too, but there will be a larger age gap here. Happy to help with any plots you have in mind

Both Lakin and Gemini sound great for Maeve! I think with @lakin, she could certainly have a friendship where the two like each other for some of their similarities, but then have constant disagreements because of their other similarities xD I like all of your suggested thread ideas. They could first 'officially' meet at the library when both of them desperately need the last remaining copy of some book. But I'd also love to do a failed experiment thread, since chaos is always fun. Maeve is most likely to experiment with Potions, but she'd also be down for exploring any other branch of magic if someone suggested it. And seeing that they're both Quidditch players, getting into a broom-related argument is also very fitting!
As for @gemini, she seems like mentor material to me. Quidditch is one of the three career paths Maeve is considering, and it's actually her most favoured. I wanted to find her a professional Seeker she could look up to, but Potter won't do, so all I had was Krum. I think actually meeting a member of a famous team would make her very excited. And yeah, since both their families are pureblood, I could easily imagine her father arranging for the two of them to meet. Maeve is new in the country and he would want her to make promising connections - Gemini would definitely be one of those.

AMÉLIE CADIEUX | MAEVE THORNE As I was reading your history blurb of her - these two strangely much the same. Parent issues. Quidditch and Dueling fans. Fourth years. The need for acceptance. They break in that Maeve is of traditional values and ways and Ameliè is doing everything in her power to escape those values and ways. She is much more welcoming and accepting to those that are different and just wants to find peace. These two may make for fun threads if only because I think Ameliè would sense many of the same similarities I’ve pointed out, but would see Maeve as the bad apple that fell from the tree, and she’s trying to remain the shiny one. xD
AMÉLIE CADIEUX | YSOLT BUTTERWORTH Speaking of peaceful. She sounds lovey! I know she’s slightly older but perhaps Ameliè could see her as a mentor or someone she confides in when she’s had a troubling day (which is often. She’s particularly clumsy). I just think she would hold a lot of respect and admiration for the older Ravenclaw!

AMÉLIE CADIEUX & MAEVE THORNE I think Maeve would like Amélie, for the most part. There doesn't seem to be much to dislike, as long as she's not obnoxiously Muggle-loving xD The shared hobbies and similar struggles could help them bond. The fact that Amélie is a Pureblood would speak greatly in her favour, too. Maeve has been told to try and veil her distaste for Muggleborns and half-breeds, so she mostly just avoids their company, and easily finds faults with their behaviour and performance. She's not one to go around calling people Mudbloods, though she might think of them as such xD I imagine she could tolerate Amélie's acceptance of all these different kinds of non-Purebloods. Though at the same time, she'd be worried that they might be a corrupting influence on a poor naive Ravenclaw. Maeve would probably be the type of friend Amélie's parents would like a lot. And if those parents become worried about their daughter's unacceptable views, they could even be secretly asking Maeve to report on who Amélie hangs out with. She'd do it, too, especially if her own father is friendly with the Cadieux family. If Amélie thinks that Maeve is a bad apple, Maeve thinks that Amélie is a stray lamb that needs to be brought back to the flock!
AMÉLIE CADIEUX & YSOLT BUTTERWORTH The two of them would get along splendidly. Ysolt is a great listener and she could be a kind and supportive presence for Amélie. She's all for peace, doesn't have a hateful bone in her body. Admittedly, she's quite obsessed with Muggles, so she might be talking about them an awful lot and making half-incorrect references that most Purebloods wouldn't be able to understand. Conversations with her could get a little bit confusing sometimes xD
omg the spy idea !!!!! You'd certainly make her holiday breaks horrifying to go home to, but that may be the push she needs to finally break out of her parents' control when she comes of age. Yes to all of what you said.

I was thinking friends maybe? Since they're in the same house Lily wouldn't be mean to him even if he is muggleborn.

AMÉLIE CADIEUX & MAEVE THORNE I love developing angsty plots! Going through multiple threads and showing the gradual change in their relationship would make the betrayal so much more significant. More pain for Amélie, more regrets for Maeve. I do enjoy making my characters suffer and rue their mistakes xD Since Maeve only came to Hogwarts this year, they wouldn't have known each other for long at this point. Do you want to do a thread about their first interaction outside of a class, where they discover more of their similarities and begin to bond?
