cressida villen
Birthday: July 14, 2006
Blood Status: Half-blood
Location of Residence: London, England
School: Hogwarts
House: Hufflepuff
Appearance:
Three Characteristics You Think You Are: Candid, brave, reliable
Three Characteristics Others Think You Are: Driven, audacious, witty
Three Random Facts:
• Cressida believes she should have been sorted into Gryffindor;
• Her parents, although both half-blood, hold to the belief that the magical world is governed best by people who were born into it. They don't claim that muggleborns are inferior, but they do think that people who spent their formative years growing up in a non-magical society should not be given the power to decide the future of the magical one;
• Her father, an official in the Ministry of Magic, is quite outspoken about the dangers various beings and half-breeds pose to the wizarding society. He particularly opposes the freedoms granted to werewolves, as he believes they only cause lycanthropy to spread with greater ease than ever;
Aspirations:
• To obtain a job at the Ministry, preferably in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures;
• To prove herself as an adept witch and be accepted into the high society of purebloods;
• To make her parents proud;
Opinion:
• Blood purity. Raised by parents who greatly respect purebloods, Cressida is inclined to support certain purist views. However, she doesn't think that muggleborns are somehow lesser - only that their cultural influence is damaging the values of the magical world.
• Magical Law. Not the most interesting of classes but she studies it ardently. It is the key to the career she wants, after all.
• Muggles. They're creative and innovative, Cressida doesn't deny it. But she doesn't want the magical world to be changed to fit the fleeting virtues of the Muggle civilization, most of which she finds quite silly.
• The Ministry of Magic. Although it has lost the trust of a lot of people, Cressida believes that the institution is still invaluable. After graduating from Hogwarts, she intends to get a job at the Ministry.
• The Sorting Hat. It is a pity that such a precious artefact of powerful ancient magic went missing. Hopefully, it will be found and returned to Hogwarts.

Roleplay Example:
Being the heir to a family fortune brought a fair share of responsibilities. Maeve could sympathize with Niklas here. She seemed to be doing better than him in fulfilling parental expectations, but that did not mean she was safe. It was lucky they had not been learning about Boggarts in Defence classes yet; the fourteen-year-old was half expecting hers to turn into the older brother she had never met. If he was to return, her chances of inheritance would plummet... Perhaps her companion had similar fears about his siblings. Should he fail, one of them might be 'promoted' over him. She nodded and made all the right sympathetic noises as he spoke; from a shaded corner of her mind, a more pragmatic voice was reminding her to check what this Faulkner family was like.
"I'll probably stay until I graduate, yeah. It's possible that Hogwarts might fall even lower in the next three years and my father will decide to transfer me again... but I know that he prefers me staying and making connections." Of course, she could always disappoint Father by failing some of the classes she was taking, and he might then remember he was young enough to remarry and make more heirs. Would he then return Maeve to Finland, or keep her around as a spare? She didn't want to think too much about that. She just wouldn't fail anything, that's all. Suddenly, her Ancient Runes homework seemed to be calling her back to the library.
Should Niklas succeed in rediscovering the Room of Requirement for them, Maeve would also be able to catch up on what she was missing in Dark Arts classes. Well, perhaps not exactly catch up - learning this subject without a proper teacher did not seem like easy work. She would need to figure out how to cast each of those hexes, jinxes and curses all on her own, without it being demonstrated to her, without a practiced adult there to correct her errors. It would be time-consuming and frustrating, she expected. Nonetheless, she could not pass up this type of opportunity. "Alright, I hope you can find this elusive Room. I'll check in with you from time to time." The promise was a cautious one. Before she could determine how often 'from time to time' was, she needed to learn who this boy was and what was his status among peers. "I need to go back to my studies now - got unfinished homework. It was nice meeting you, Niklas. And thanks again for all the cards." She stood, smiling in a slightly apologetic fashion - leaving a conversation while so much could still be discussed was not exactly polite, but her academic life had to come first. "See you around!" The redhead walked off, back the way she had come from.
