Silvia Odette Stirling
Birthday: October 6, 2007
Blood Status: Half-blood
Location of Residence: London, England
School: Hogwarts
House: Gryffindor
Appearance:
Three Characteristics You Think You Are: Determined, loyal, daring
Three Characteristics Others Think You Are: Optimistic, passionate, reckless
Three Random Facts:
• Silvia is part-Veela (1/4) from her mother's side;
• Due to her parents' moving to work in different parts of the world every few years, Silvia has already attended two schools of magic - Selveira Institute (Gacora) when she was 10-12 years old, and Salem Academy when she was 13; now that her parents got a contract in Britain, she will attend Hogwarts;
• Her favourite travelling method is sailing;
Aspirations:
• To become an adept curse-breaker like her parents;
• To learn as much as possible about magic, and make discoveries/innovations of her own;
• To find a way of reversing the damage done to her father by whatever means necessary - be it through some powerful piece of arcane magic, or Alchemy, or even Dark Arts;
Opinion:
• Quidditch. Not as good as Quodpot, but still a fun way to spend free time. She might sign up for the Quidditch team while she's at Hogwarts.
• Ancient Runes. One of the most important classes for a future curse-breaker! Silvia always pays close attention during lessons, and also studies the subject on her own whenever she can.
• Gobstones. A fun little pastime. She owns a set and fancies herself to be quite good at the game.
• Blood purity. Something only purebloods worry about, really. Given how small the wizarding population is, the attempts to preserve 'pure' blood only lead to inbreeding. Maybe that's why so many of the wizarding 'aristocrats' are complete idiots stuck in the past ideologically.
• Muggles. There's a lot the magical community could learn from them. They're far more advanced technologically, and it would be great if the two world could be somehow united in the future. For that, someone would need to find a way to prevent magic from interfering with Muggle devices. Perhaps Silvia will be that somebody one day...
Family:
Iskra Stirling | mother | born 1978
Beauxbatons alumna. Bulgarian. Half-Veela. Curse-breaker and amazing mother.
Damien Stirling | father | born 1978
Hogwarts alumnus (Ravenclaw). Scottish. Curse-breaker and amazing father.
Silvia's parents met in Egypt when they were both 21, and new to the curse-breaking profession - they were hired by Gringotts to retrieve some especially valuable items from one of the pyramids. The two of them clicked immediately. After their contracts were fulfilled, they got married. From then on, they only took jobs that would hire both of them as a team. The young couple travelled to the most exciting sites of ancient magic and worked with incredibly powerful objects, and never failed to complete the jobs they were hired for. After earning enough money to live comfortably for a decade, the couple decided to have children. They settled in France, bought a chateau, and lived peacefully for a while. However, a few years after Silvia was born, they began feeling the urge to resume their exciting line of work. Soon enough, they were taking contracts again, travelling to trap-protected tombs and cursed ruins. Silvia went with them. While she was not allowed anywhere near her parents' work sites, she knew what they were doing and craved to join them. Thus, the girl's desire to become a curse-breaker developed early in her life. Fast-forward to the spring of 2022. Iskra and Damien received a particularly lucrative contract from Gringotts again, and moved to Britain. For a few weeks all was fine, as the two of them kept successfully cracking old protective curses on the batch of valuable items the bank had obtained. Unfortunately, Iskra soon came down with a nasty case of Dragon Pox and could not work for several weeks. Their employer being strict about deadlines, Damien had to work alone - something he hadn't done since his training as a curse-breaker. It was far more complicated to deal with the artefacts on his own, without his wife's aid. And far more dangerous. Sure enough, one of the items proved too difficult to crack for him. A curse placed on it was activated and attached itself to Damien, severely damaging his brain. He was rushed to St. Mungo's, but all the Healers could do was stabilize him. He is still in a coma and the experts predict that he will never recover. Silvia, who had just completed her exams at Salem Institute at the time of the incident, transferred to Hogwarts to be closer to her father who would stay at St. Mungo's for the foreseeable future. Her mother, having recovered from Dragon Pox, had to resume her work for Gringotts. Both Iskra and Silvia are determined to find a way to heal the damage dealt to Damien.
Roleplay Example:
The first and only time Maeve had gone to the girls' bathroom on the second floor, Moaning Myrtle had been bawling in distress about something Peeves had said to her. That visit had left the Slytherin girl's feet drenched in water and her ears ringing from the excessive volume of the ghost's sobs. Afterward, she told Pepper of this experience, and was informed that hardly anyone ever used this lavatory because of Myrtle. She had not returned since then, having learned her lesson the hard way. But today she didn't have much choice. A first-year carrying a poorly sealed jar of flobberworm mucus had bumped into her and spilled the nasty goo all over the front of her robes. After scaring the kid away with a furious glare, she rushed to find the nearest sink where she could try and wash the mess off before too many people saw her. The few that did were giving her curious looks and she did not want other students mocking her. The closest sink, however, turned out to be the mostly-abandoned bathroom.
As she neared it, Maeve could hear wailing coming from the inside. So, Myrtle was in distress again. Was she ever not in a miserable mood? Cursing under her breath, she proceeded to crack open the door just as the ugly transparent girl was insisting that she was 'lovely' and 'lovable'. Yeah, right. She snorted derisively and stepped inside, careful not to put her foot into any puddles. Which was not the easiest task, given that some of the sinks were quickly overflowing.
Surprisingly, there was another person here - a Ravenclaw she knew from some of their classes. "Who upset her this time?" she asked, heading for one of the sinks. She adjusted the faucet, reducing the water flow, and began cleaning off the greenish mucus while keeping a wary eye on the rampaging ghost. From what she managed to hear before the mayhem erupted, there had been something about meeting someone's parents. Was Myrtle in love? If that was the case, her feelings were unreciprocated. This was not a happy frenzy. "I swear, there's some sort of drama happening here every time I pass this bathroom," Maeve remarked to Amélie in an irritated voice. The constant drama was, in fact, the reason why she - and everyone else - was passing the bathroom and rarely ever entering it.
The floor was getting very wet very fast, and the sticky mucus was not particularly easy to wash out. She had to try and stop this before her feet got all soaked again. "Hey, Myrtle!" she raised her voice so she could be heard over the ruckus. "He doesn't deserve you. If he can't see how lovely and precious you are, he's not worth your time. You can do so much better!" She did her best to make her voice sound earnest and hide her annoyance. For a few seconds, the Slytherin racked her brain, trying to come up with something else that could make the ghost cease her tantrum. A sudden inspiration struck her. "You know, I heard Daniel Fowell saying he thought you were cute. I bet he wouldn't hurt your feelings like that."
