Domhnall 'Don' McEvoy
Birthday: May 1, 2011
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Location of Residence: Galway, Ireland
School: Hogwarts
House: Slytherin
Appearance:
Three Characteristics You Think You Are: Witty, easy-going, inventive
Three Characteristics Others Think You Are: Mischievous, audacious, impatient
Three Random Facts:
• His family is very religious, and it was quite terrifying for them to learn about the magical world.
• Don's mother and grandmother use Dolly as his pet name, which embarrasses him to no end.
• The sorting scarf took forever in deciding where to put him. Don was starting to think there had been a mistake and he is not actually a wizard.
Aspirations:
• To save up enough money for a good broomstick.
• To become independent of his parents as soon as possible, and make a good life for himself in the wizarding world.
• To find out all the secrets that Hogwarts castle holds!
Opinion:
• The sorting scarf. What an odd way to separate students into groups. It's almost like rivalries are encouraged. Well, then, Slytherin is clearly the best house!
• Magic. It's so cool! Who could have thought that all those funny things happening around Don were magic? Less than a year ago, his parents would have called such an idea blasphemous.
• Blood purity. Does it really matter? Don isn't quite sure convinced. Sure, some of the pureblood kids are doing better in classes than he is... but maybe that's just because they already have prior knowledge, while he is only now learning about this exciting new world.
• Quidditch. This sport is wicked! Mom and Dad would probably forbid him from taking part if they knew about it, so Don prudently keeps it secret. But he definitely wants to play, even if he doesn't quite get all the rules yet.
• Potions. That's like cooking, isn't it? Eugh, girl stuff. It should be an elective from the get-go, so boys could drop it if they want to.
Family:
Mathilda McEvoy | mother | born 1983
She is a bit overly protective of her children, especially the youngest one - Don. She nearly had a heart attack when she found out that her baby boy is a wizard! And of course, Mathilda didn't want him to go to some magical school, but was eventually persuaded that he needs to be trained to prevent any mishaps.
Aedan McEvoy | father | born 1980
The only breadwinner in a family of six, he is hardworking and determined to provide the best future for his children. However, he is rarely home, given his long working hours. Áedán showed no joy when it turned out that one of his children is a sorcerer. Due to his deeply conservative and religious views, he is worried their family might be condemned.
Aisling McEvoy | sister | born 2003
Recently graduated from school and is already engaged to her high school sweetheart. She is probably the most boringly dutiful person Don knows. He hates her bossiness.
Ronit McEvoy | sister | born 2005
Easily Don's favourite sibling. Their parents think she's a little angel. If only they knew the mischief she gets into! She was the only one who seemed intrigued to learn about Don's powers and supported his desire to go to Hogwarts.
Kyran McEvoy | brother | born 2009
The son their father had wanted for so long. He is clearly the heir, while Don is merely a spare. And Kyran, that damned prick, beats Don in everything - from sports to maths! At least he has no magical powers. Don is planning to turn him into a skunk one day.
Bridget Ó Floinn | maternal grandmother | born 1959
She smells really weird. Don doesn't really like visiting her, nor does he like the way she babies him. He does get some pocket money and sweets from her, though, so he tolerates her. Not being part of his immediate family, she does not know that one of her grandchildren is a wizard.
Patrick Ó Floinn | maternal grandfather | born 1947
He keeps telling the same stories over and over, and needs his wife to do everything for him. Don does his best to avoid the old man and only goes to talk to him when bullied into it by his parents.
Roleplay Example:
The owl Father had sent her two days ago all but tripled Maeve's excitement about going to Hogsmeade. Having paid a visit to Vikram Fawley, a respectable pureblood wizard, he arranged for her to meet Gemini Fawley - Vikram's daughter, and a professional Seeker. She played for Montrose Magpies, which was not a team Maeve knew much of, what with being new to the country and all that. However, that did not reduce her eagerness to make this acquaintance. The two could meet in Hogsmeade on the first weekend day trip of the term, and chat about their mutual interests, primarily Quidditch. That was a suggestion Alistair Thorne actually included in the letter, which made the fourth-year feel queer. Almost like she was a shy five-year-old going on her first playdate and required guidance in socialization.
To be fair, she did feel somewhat anxious. This Gemini was an adult, in her early twenties or so. The Slytherin was almost sure she had at least one professor of that same age. A twenty-something witch might not be too eager to spend the day with a fourteen-year-old, especially since it was essentially a favour to Maeve's father. The teen barely knew anyone outside of her school year, much less a rising Quidditch star who played in the same position as her. A possible friendship would be incredibly beneficial for her. The enthusiasm might be entirely one-sided, though. And while Maeve felt to be mature for her years, there was still something intimidating about interacting with people outside her age group.
Their designated meeting place was near the Hogsmeade Station. Not because Gemini would be arriving by train, but because there were far fewer people here than elsewhere in the village. Which meant it would be easier for them to find each other. Father's owl had also brought a piece of team merchandise - a black-and-white scarf with a perched magpie embroidered proudly on one end. After some consideration, Maeve decided to wear it on this trip instead of her usual green-and-silver scarf. That was the only part of the school uniform she replaced; other than that, she still looked very much like a Hogwarts student, with hints of Slytherin colours here and there. Her hair might serve as a sort of banner as well, marking her location in bright orange.
Her stomach was all tied in knots, as if she truly was a child who had little experience of social interaction. She sat on a bench in front of the station and looked around, scanning the faces of the people walking by.
