Ignatius cleared the board from the mornings lesson and set about putting up the new instructions for his older years. His hand moved steady and fluidly along the board as he wrote the new instructions in large enough text to be read no matter where one was sitting. The next text was unbroken and clean, much, reflecting Ignatius's own personality without his even realizing. It was fine though, he was simply happy to have the instructions be clear for everyone.
-- 2 ounces of dried nettle -- 5 ounces of coconut oil -- 6 ounces of manuka honey -- 2 ounces of beeswax -- 15 drops of aloe
Bring coconut oil to a boil. Add the nettle and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Squeeze juice from aloe plants and distribute 15 drops evenly. Raise heat once more. Once brought to a boil, lower the heat to the lowest setting and add in the honey and 1 ounce of beeswax. Evenly combine and allow it to very lightly simmer for 15 minutes. Once finished, remove from heat and stir until consistency becomes paste like. Slowly fold in the remaining ounce of beeswax. After smooth, add to desired container. Will be orange in color.
"Welcome back to Potions. Please take your seats quickly and be sure to take places next to someone you feel comfortable brewing your potions with as we will be working in pairs. Except for our seventh years. Since this is your last year at Hogwarts I am expecting you to be able to brew a potion on your own. However I am, as always, available to assist you should you need." Anyone taking Potions in their seventh year was dedicated to the subject or needed it for their careers. This meant he had to be a bit more stringent towards them, as they would only have this last year with a safety net.
"As you can see we will be making burn-healing paste today. I have provided you all tins to contain the paste you create, which you will find on your desks. Before we begin brewing can anyone tell me to what degree burn can this paste treat? And, for house points, which spell causes burns this paste cannot heal?" It was crucial to him that they had studied these sorts of things to know how useful this paste could be. Especially since it could heal even third degree burns. But to also be careful, as Fiendfyre, or the Fiendfyre Curse, created burn wounds the paste could not heal.

Maeve was glad she could finally work alone in Potions. Although she tended to pair up with those who were fairly accomplished themselves, she was still the most efficient on solo projects.
Before starting the brewing process with the ingredients that had been helpfully provided, she raised her hand to answer one of the two questions. Someone else could show off their knowledge with the other one. "The Fiendfyre Curse causes burns that cannot be healed with the Burn-Healing Paste, professor."

Burn healing paste sounded awesome to know how to make, especially for clumsy people like himself. Whether it was burning himself on cauldrons or candles or even anything unexpected it would be a skill worth having. Maybe the professor would even let them keep their products today should they be able to make good paste. Though he was not sure since the Professor had also provided the tins to put the paste in, maybe they were meant to stay in the classroom?
"Hey Roxxie, you want to work together?" They had worked together last year too and it had gone well enough so he hoped she might want to again this year. That way he wouldn't end up to bad off. Their cooperation had kept their potion from being awful last year so he was glad to work together now. As Maeve answered his attention got split and he loudly commented on the spell mentioned. "Fiendfyre Curse? Merlin that would be fun to learn, don't you think?"

Along with the school year just starting Tynan had to deal with the fact that the first weekend at school was a Full moon. So he was irritable and snappy knowing that this Friday, after classes, he would be taken away for the transformation. So he was angrily slumped in a seat closest to the door of the Potions classroom and stabbing his quill tip into his parchment while others went about actually paying attention. As the professor said they were to pair up he groaned, rolling his eyes and wondering if he needed to be here. Maybe he should drop out. OWLs and NEWTs couldn't be that important. It's not like he was going to be so good as to negate his werewolf status so some things would always be outside his reach.

Julian sauntered through the potions classroom door, eyes finding Professor Cassowary neatly scribbling instructions on the board at the forefront of the classroom: ..."be sure to take places next to someone you feel comfortable brewing your potions with, as we will be working in pairs..." Julian frowned instantly, brows furrowing - someone you feel comfortable with. His eyes moved between those already seated: Maeve Thorne - of whom he was more or less comfortable with, though she was working independently, two Gryffindors he was unfamiliar with and Ó Seighin - the mudblood of whom Thorne herself had warned him about. Julian grimaced disdainfully, taking the Professor's instructions seriously by walking further into the classroom and slumping into the furthest available seating from the door.
He stretched his legs out before himself, listening to the Professor introduce the day's topic as he simultaneously pulled out a roll of fresh parchment, beginning to take notes rather than approaching anyone. Burn-Healing Paste. Now this was interesting. Julian had long acquired an avid interest in Healing - so much so that he had signed up for the Healing Club for his fourth year despite loathing the concept of interacting with others. He would need to swallow his contempt for the general public for the time being if it meant he could begin to master exceptional skills more quickly.
Julian finished scratching out the required ingredients for the potion, rubbing his eyes mindlessly. It had been another sleepless night and it was certainly taking a toll.

Potions was always an interesting concept for the young Hufflepuff. He neither liked nor disliked it yet it was just something he had to go through. He sat himself down next to another student before noticing that two others were already conversing. “Burn healing paste….” He mumbled writing down the name of the potion before allowing a thought to fill up his mind. He questioned if this could be something they could also learn in Basic Healing or was it specifically a Potions lessons subject they had to learn. For now, he began preparing his ingredients for the potion.

It was Calvin’s first lesson since transferring over to Hogwarts ad the first observation he noticed with the Potions class at Hogwarts was that he. Noticed the windows or lack there of. Potions back in his former school was in a well ventilated area with lots of windows and natural sunlight yet here at Hogwarts it was dark, gloomy and somewhat rather sad.
One of the other observations he saw was another student he had met before. An odd encounter but it was somewhat memorable. “ Hey Mulcher.” He greeted Julian playing around in a teasing manner with the boy’s name. “ I thought we were doing potions, interesting to see we’re doing some healing stuff here aye. “ He said as he began to prepare his potion still trying to figure out what the ingredients were.

Although potions wasn’t exactly one of his stronger points of magic, Levi found himself highly interested in what they were learning today. The potion to a normal person’s ear, the potion sounded boring considering it was more paste than potion however, it was so interesting learn something new. Perhaps it was the Ravenclaw in him that made things interesting.
Around the class he saw some familiar. Faces and one he’d not seen before. Perhaps a transfer student? Being a prefect now meant that he was more so than often assisting with the school but he had not yet met the new comer. Waiting for the right time, Levi instead decided to start working on the potion in front of him,

Julian barely glanced up from setting up his cauldron as a voice drifted across his desk and someone had chosen to join him in the far corner of the classroom. He recognised the slower drawl of the boys accent at once, scowling at the mispronunciation of his family name. "Klarck," he accosted without missing a beat, eyes finally darting up once he'd balanced his set-up, catching the midnight-blue Ravenclaw robes adorning the foreigner. "Well that must be a mistake," he mocked, glancing back down to gather the appropriate dried nettle and place several stems onto scales. He removed a single stem to make the two ounces.
As Klein remarked about healing, Julian hesitated in his measuring of the coconut oil, "where were you educated again?" He knew the answer but wanted to press the insult, "did they fail to incorporate the wide variety of potions in their curriculum?" He had been taught that potions were any magical mixture commonly brewed within a cauldron that entailed magical effects upon the drinker. It did not necessarily need to be a liquid - a paste brewed properly would count.
Julian noticed that Calvin had not begun to gather his ingredients. He reached for the parchment he had dabbled the notes from the board on, and sharply turned it toward the Ravenclaw without a word.

Leo wished that Potions wasn't a part of so many potential careers. Of course, upon a long and somewhat tedious talk with his dads, he'd realized it was necessary. Hopefully he'd be able to succeed next year when it came to it, but for now he realized he was going to have to put a lot of effort into it. Therefore, he had arrived early, allowing others to sit with him as they felt comfortable with it.
He could at the very least start gathering his ingredients together, which he did. He liked his things to be labelled, but most of them would likely be easy. Hopefully easy enough that Leo wouldn't end up with an exploded cauldron.

Looking around, he saw that Julian was conversing with the other boy. A thought he would have to hold onto on their next encounter. For now, he knew he had to start doing his work or else he would fall behind again and this year was one of his most important considering it was his OWL's. To add to this of course, Levi's extra circular activities which his father had almost doubled.
"Hey Leo, how are you going with this?" He finally asked hoping Leo Rutherford knew what he was doing as Levi really struggled with this despite being rather interested in it. Being all about precision wasn't exactly Levi's strongest skill and the fact he was a grade above him which he thought would be useful.
Quietly, the boy moved on to the next step of his potion paste concoction. He slowly but precisely followed the instructions provided to him by the professor before he noticed the others chatting away. Henri, didn't mind having no one interact with him considering he was used to be a loner or the quiet person in the class. He paused for a second to take a little break as he felt a cramp running through his arm. Holding it tightly, he winced a little before taking a seat on the chair.

A confused look appeared on his face after seeing Julian. " What's a Klarck?" He had not heard of the term before and wondered if it was code for something. " I picked Ravenclaw cos like, they're smart aren't they? " He acknowledged being a little cheeky at the same time as he looked down at the Emerald green robes he wore. " Oh wow. " He replied without saying much else but just shook his head.
" St.Augustine." He said proudly before hearing the sneer that came after it. He was patriotic about his former school and to make things worse, Julian had managed to sneer two things at him which he found rather devastating. He raised an eyebrow as he leaned in closer to Julian. " Insult me again and I'll make your lips balloon up. " He said in a joking manner before he accepted the boy's notes.
"Thank you Julian. " He said somewhat giving him a smile. Calvin, who rarely smiled was quite selective with the students and people he interacted it. Over the last few weeks, he had started to like Julian and his interesting personality. To add to this, he was also pleasing on the eyes though perhaps that was more just a personal thought.

"Hm?" Leo said, distracted from his ingredient organizing. It took him a second to place the voice, but he eventually figured it out. "Ah! Levi. Do you want to work together?"
Leo patted the seat on the bench next to him. "I was just getting organized, but we can start on it. It's probably easier with someone who can see the ingredients and all that."
Leo put the coconut oil in the cauldron and turned up the heat. They just needed it to be boiling, and then they'd be good to go! Hopefully Levi could see the board, because Leo's book was a braille copy of the textbook.

Levi smiled toward Leo not that it made much difference considering he couldn't see. Not that it was any disadvantage and if anything, Levi actually thought it was rather impressive and he was quite curious how Leo was capable of still performing magic successfully too. " I'd love to work with you. " He replied continuing on with that smile.
" We can work together, I got some notes down. " He said as he began to add the nettle once the cauldron contents were boiling. " We just got to let it steep for a bit." He replied as he waited. " So did you get up to much during the holidays? " They had time to converse considering they had to wait for 30 minutes while everything was boiling. In the meantime, he prepared the next ingredient. " I got the aloe plant ready."
