Jarod worked on his potion as carefully as he could. He only once in a while looked around to make sure that everything was alright. Jarod sighed as he saw what happened as he was shocked by it. Then he shook his head and went back to work on his potion, as things seem to calm down. Jarod still couldn't find anyone to work with so worked on his own as he hoped to be able to do it well. He followed the instructions through. As Jarod ended up getting to the finishing part of the potion making. At least he hoped it was the case, anyway. Jarod had no idea for sure but he believed that it was the case, anyway.

Family was always the top of the list whenever it came to organising things in his life. Thus, he was quite glad to work with Ilona on this paste. “ Thank you. “ He returned to Ilona before looking over toward her to see what she had done. Not that she didn’t trust her but more so to learn what she did. Considering how things had gone at the start of the year, it was interesting to learn this in case it should become necessary.
“ I’ll do that. “ He said as he made his merry way over to collect some beeswax, 2 ounces to be precise and 6 ounces of honey which he collected slowly. To ensure that he didn’t both go over the required amount nor under. “ Got it. “ He said as he began to add in the 6 ounces of honey and evenly distributed the first ounce of beeswax to the paste. “ Now that I’ve combined it, we just have to wait 15 minutes. “ He replied before paying attention to what Ilona had said.
“ Shhh. “. He said as he began to look around only noticing the sound he was making was attracting more attention. “ I don’t want too many people knowing about me. “ He replied not that he was embarrassed by it but more so because he was afraid of being picked on if his creature status was brought to public attention. “Same as always. “ He replied before handing over the rest of the beeswax.

"Er... Leo paused. He couldn't exactly see the castle, but he knew it was there. It was hard not to, after all, he'd spent most of the past six years at Hogwarts. "Yeah. We don't go in, though. I wonder what it's like inside the castle while everyone else is home?" The professors probably all went home, too. It was just an interesting thought.
Levi's answer seemed a little hesitant, and Leo thought it was because something bad had happened. It wasn't his business to pry into Levi's life, but he did feel a little bad for the younger student.
"Sure, we can move on to the next step." Leo said, checking his braille textbook for what the next step was. "15 drops evenly, yeah?"
Leo used the heat of the cauldron to make sure he wasn't spilling the aloe onto the floor, waiting for a little 'plunk' sound to tell him that the droplets had landed properly. It took some time, but he wanted to make sure he didn't mess up.

“ Oh. I’m sorry. “ He replied almost instantly to the sound Leo had made. He had hoped not to offend Leo with his comments nor come across insincere with what he had said. “ I feel like it’ll just be the Ghosts having a party.” He then pondered if the Hogwarts Ghosts also took “time off ” or if they remained spirit locked to Hogwarts Castle.
He had made an unexpected friend in Leo and he appreciated that Leo was actually working with him. “ Yes. I’ll add in the honey and the one ounce of beeswax. “ He. Said as he spoke through his actions for not only his confirmation but as an aid for Leo too. He wondered if Leo’s other senses were heightened or if that was just a simple saying that had been said time and time again.
“Do you ever feel weird that during visits to Hogsmeade you could technically visit home? “ He asked as he waited for the cauldron to simmer.

Julian blinked a bit blankly back at Klein as he outrageously suggested that Julian had been flirting. In all honestly he wasn't quite sure how to react - it was not everyday that someone suggested such a thing from a Mulciber, let alone one so usually proper. Gathering himself for a response as Calvin went on, Julian cleared his throat, "I was making a point," he almost stumbled, the words sounding awkward. Being accused of teasing had thrown him. He kept his eyes focused on their concoction rather than looking at the Ravenclaw, "if we don't concentrate we will fail this lesson." He was determined to steer the conversation back to silence or at least away from its current topic.
But then there was no need - the distraction and subsequent accident was enough to steer them both away from their thoughts. After smacking his head quite hard, Julian had fallen back into his seat, a hand raised to rub his skull. As Klein questioned him, Julian growled, "why did you have to yell so loud?" He winced, feeling tenderness where he had collided with metal.
Another student had approached, and Julian flinched as she tried to help him forward in his seat, feeling her hands on him. It was Beckett - a fellow Slytherin and one that Julian shared a few classes with. Although familiar, Julian loathed the physical touch. He pulled away from her, gently, because he understood she was only trying to help. "I'm fine," he shot Calvin a glare to match hers before glancing her way, hearing the anxiousness in her voice. She was pretty, her hazel eyes meeting his blue momentarily, "I don't require help," he shrugged out of her grasp, straightening his robes. His brain felt like it was on fire, and his head was pounding, but he refused to appear weak.
He looked down at their potion, wondering how badly it might have been ruined. There was naught else to do but continue with the recipe and hope for the best.

“ Because of the rat!” He quickly replied as his eyes began to scan the area again for the so called rat he had previously seen. He questioned whether his mind was getting the better of him or there really was a rat. Considering the coast clear when his eyes had completed a full scan of the room, his attention then went back to Julian and now, the other Slytherin Student.
“ So how’s your head? Bit of a bump on your noggin aye? That’ll soothe out just nicely with a cuppa and a biccy.” He replied as he watched Julian straighten himself out. “ Alright, alright, What stage are we upto anyway? I’ll focus now. “ He replied still with one eye scanning the room for the so called rat.

He wanted to tell the younger Hufflepuff that they could work together. But when his lips parted no sound that sounded like words came out. It was just noise, quiet and squeaking. His cheeks turned red out of embarrassment. To save face he put up a smile and gave her thumbs up.
He pointed at the textbook to signal she could focus on keeping the coconut oil at the right temperature while he prepared the beatles and aloe. Working together like this was more of a challenge than he’d hoped. But as long as she didn’t ask questions about why he pointed instead of talked and just focussed on the potion they should be fine. This was his best class and he wasn’t going to screw up his track record.

"What rat?" Julian challenged rather aggressively, having not seen any rodent in the classroom - and he certainly did not believe a lone rat would be scurrying in amongst the students so boldly. Perhaps it had been a niffler or a jarvey rather than a rat - Julian had heard those creatures were rather common in the United Kingdom - and he imagined they could almost be mistaken for a rat at first glance. He half watched Klein scan the room feverously, the concentration on his face clear. It was almost amusing - had his head still not been pounding.
The new Ravenclaw student turned his attention back to him, and words started spilling out of his mouth, sounding completely foreign to him. Julian suddenly wasn't sure if he had hit his head far harder than he had initially thought. "What is that?" He had heard the terms: noggin, cuppa and biccy. None of which made sense to him. "Is that even English?" He was growing frustrated now, certain they were going to fail the class - although, he supposed, that was the least of his problems.
Klein finally seemed eager to continue with their burn-healing paste, questioning Julian on their progress. He sighed, rolling his shoulders and stretching his neck quickly before leaning back to look into their cauldron - being extra cautious not to lean too far in. The potion had been brought to the boil so Julian turned the heat down. "The next step requires 6 ounces of honey-" He took ahold of the beaker containing the honey he had measured earlier, pouring it in, "and one ounce of beeswax." The ingredient was sitting before Klein, so Julian allowed him to take charge. "We need to simmer for fifteen minutes after the addition of the beeswax, then stir until it becomes a paste."

Calvin paused as he looked over to Julian. “ Do you not know what a rat is? “ He asked as he began to explain what a roden like creature looked like, their colour, how many toes and fingers the things had and even went further on to explain the tail and how big they grew in Australia. “ You see rats are like, well in Australia we call them bin rats cos they always be salvaging food from the weirdest of places. “. He replied thinking about just how large the rats were in Australia. “ I’m surprised you don’t know what a rat is.” He further added to his confusion on what Julian had meant with his fancy words.
He began to worry about Julian when questioned about the English he used. “ Did you hit your head that hard during the bingle that it caused yah to see visions of darkness? “ He said jumping slightly with an excited tone. “ Oooh maybe you can see visions now and like a psychic or something cos like, first you didn’t know what a rat was and now you ddon’t understand English. Should I seek help for you? Do you need cpr? “
While he waited for the reply, Calvin continued to work on the paste like thing in front of them. He followed the instructions to a T adding in the one ounce of beeswax and waited as he looked over the paste waiting for it to finish simmering. “ Doesn’t look too bad. “ He said as he began to take the paste off heat while slowly starting to stir it. “ Do you want me to finish the folding part? Like how does one even fold it? Like paper? “

Leo laughed at that. "Ghosts, partying?" He imagined they had to do something with their lives, or rather their deaths, but parties? Maybe reading, if books were something they could interact with. Being a ghost sounded terribly lonely, even with other ghosts.
He appreciated Levi telling him what he was doing, since it made it easier for Leo to figure out what he should be doing. Waiting for it to simmer seemed to be the right option.
"I actually do go see my dads if they're not busy." Leo said, "But I can just tell them that I'm hanging out with friends instead and they're usually pretty calm about it."

With the simmering now complete, he decided to take the initiative to continue on with the work. He removed it from the simmer and started to stir it till it became paste like. While doing so, he continued his conversation with Leo. "Yeah can you imagine? I wonder what those parties are like. I bet they're wild!" He replied as he began to fold in the remaining ounce of beeswax.
" Ahh that's nice of them. " He replied wondering it would of been like to have family that allowed their children to socialise with whoever they wanted too. He paused for a second before looking at Leo. " Oh wait, I think we're done here. " He looked back down at his paste and placed the paste into two small containers before looking back at Leo. " Okay, so we've finished the paste. It's in two separate containers. One for you and one for me. But now what do we do?" He was quite proud that the colour did have an orange tone to it but wasn't sure if he was to share that with Leo.

He did not seem to be in a bad mood! No, he smiled and gave her a thumbs up and… squeaked?
Nicha put her bag down beside Lewis with a “thanks”. She followed his finger to the part of the textbook he pointed at, then looked back at him to understand a) which step each of them would be responsible for, and b) that he could not communicate verbally. As she began her assigned task of pouring five ounces of coconut oil into their cauldron and bringing it to a boil, a multitude of emotions passed through her - sympathy was one because not being able to speak was just horrible and the circumstances that made him so must have been unimaginably painful, but she also felt ashamed. What kind of person doesn’t notice their housemate not talking?
Wordlessly following her train of thought, she added the two ounces of dried nettle as well and realised that all they had to do now was allow it to steep for thirty minutes. That was a long time… the Hufflepuff sat down again and scribbled a message on her parchment below her notes about the burn-healing paste, which she slid over to Lewis. ’Do you need help in any of your other classes?’

Jarod contiued to work on his own potion. He hoped to work with someone as it needed two people but since no one seemed to work with him, it was fine or so he thought and believed as he planned to work on it himself. He believed in himself, so he had no doubt that he would be able to do that, even if he was worried but tried not to worry, as well as he tried not to let it stop him from proving himself. Jarod did his best to believe in himself and focus on the moment only or he tried to anyway. As he hoped for the best as much as he possibly could, anyhow. Jarod looked around and then back on his potion as he watched it closely and did what he could to finish the potion and he made sure not to blow up anything nor ruin the potion nor both. As he continued to hope for the best and focus on the moment as he worked on his potion. Jarod made sure to follow the ingridients through and through withut messing anything up. He waited for the right moment and then added the last needed ingridients and then he waited for it to turn into a paste. Jarod looked around and then he looked back at his potion as he waited for it to turn into a paste.
