Your character got a surprise valentines day card from a mystery secret admirer. There's no information about who it's from and no one saw it get delivered. How does your character handle this?
“Oh… My… GOD! DOOON!” Willow barely had time to read the cute little note that had tossed heart confetti up in his face before he started sprinting down the corridor that led to the dungeons. “DON! It is happening! It is finally happening! I am getting a girlfriend!” Willow’s voice echoed between the dark walls, making a group of older Slytherins follow him with angry eyes as he practically collided with their flock – mixing himself in fabrics from robes, green ties and leather bags. “Ugh, excuse me… Sorry… Sorry!” Willow tried to detangle himself.
He was sure that most Slytherins learned how to hiss when they attended their third year, because it seemed to be the only way the group was able to respond to him as he finally managed to get away and continue his run. “DON! DONNIE!” Willow held the letter high above his head and his mousey hair in a wild distortion as his green eyes stared widely ahead of him, while he for some reason was not even panting from the run. He was just too excited!
There he was! Don had just exited the Slytherin common room when Willow practically tackled him. “LOOK AT THIS!” He shoved the letter up in Don’s face while sitting on top of him practically yelling at the poor first year. “I bet it is from Pippa! Or maybe Apinya…” He blinked. “It could also be Silvia actually! Look at the writing. It is definitely from one of the older girls. The letters are so beautiful and curly… And… can you smell it?” He shook the letter, drizzling the small hearts onto his friend. “It smells like perfume. Oh my god, Don. I think I am in love!” Willow flushed scarlet as he turned the letter around and placed a kiss right in the middle of the beautiful handwriting.
The young boy sat up on the other’s stomach, hugging the letter tightly into his chest, closing his eyes for a moment… Well, the moment quickly disappeared when a very familiar laughter started to roll from Don’s lips – a laughter that was too familiar to Willow… A mischievous laughter. Willow opened one eye, staring down at the ginger-haired girl. “What?” He asked cautiously. “Whaaat?” Willow knew why he was laughing… It was really not hard to figure out and with an angry outburst, he yelped while whacking Don with the letter. “IT WAS FROM YOU?!”

Ugh, Valentine’s Day! What mudblood had decided that the wizardry world should be a part of this godforsaken holiday that made it okay to dress everything in bloody pink? And who the bloody hell had drunk all the coffee? Balthazar shook the thermos kettle that did not get filled fast enough from the kitchen downstairs. His piercing blue eyes glared down the staff table at his colleagues who seemed to be sipping to their own delicious morning bitterness while he was meant to wait for more to be brewed. “WHAT?” He growled at the little goblin that had strolled up to him dressed in a weird tutu, wearing a pair of fake wings. “You look ridiculous!”
These festivities were getting out of hand! And at this point, the man had no idea whether it was one of the other faculty members who thought it was a good idea having goblins to walk around, handing out love letters or if it was a prank made by the older students. The goblin did not seem to get a hint that he was unwanted, but instead handed a white letter with strange fluffy edges to the dark-haired wizard. “What the bloody hell is this?” He hissed as if it was the creature itself who had dared to write him a love confession.
Balthazar, who was still in desperate need of his morning coffee opened the envelope and got a choir of young girl voices singing an unfamiliar song called “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. Already there, he looked like he had found a dead mouse inside – and actually, it would have been better, because upon unfolding the perfumed paper, he read all about how this secret admirer has had a crush on him ever since he arrived. Apparently, she was in his class? Bloody freaking hell! And now his colleagues were staring wide-eyed at him!
Balthazar honestly just wanted his freaking cup of coffee – was that too much to ask? Now, he had to deal with this lovesick puppy whose name he did not even know. Otherwise, he would make sure to kick her out of class! Nevertheless, he knew how to deal with this letter. The man stood up from his seat, and slowly – very slowly, he started to rip it into pieces in front of everyone; student, teachers… that gnome with a tutu – every single one! And once it was done, he tossed the pieces as the gnome, grabbed his cup and walked out of the great hall. “I will be drinking my morning coffee in the kitchens!” He told whoever cared to listen. Little did he knew was that it was actually a young boy who was now sitting with tears in his eyes, hands folded in his lap, not daring to look up at the angry professor as he walked by.
Out of character TAGGED: n/a NOTES: Points to Slytherin
Saint hadn't sent out anything for Valentine's day. She didn't believe in it. She believed in getting stuff, sure. But she didn't believe in sending it out. After all, why would she? She was awesome. So far she hadn't gotten anything, which was fine.
Sitting at the Ravenclaw table with Lakin, she was busy pretending she cared about her homework when a note floated over to her. She hadn't seen where it was coming from and there were too many people in the room for her to guess. But it didn't smell gross like a boy. "Oh maybe it's from Maeve!" She nudged her friend without too much trouble.
She started reading it and didn't get far before she was convinced it was Maeve. After all, the handwriting was too good to be a boy and it didn't smell gross. Even if there wasn't a name attached, she was going to go with her gut feeling.
Standing up, she walked over to the Slytherin table. She was about to ask Maeve about the card when she overheard the Slytherin in question complaining about the holiday being made by muggles or something. Quickly she crushed the card in her hand and turned around. Without a word, she slid back into her seat. Maybe it wasn't actually from Maeve, but she'd prefer to believe it was. So she'd just live in her own delusion. That was the better way to live anyway.

Blissfully unaware of today's date, Silvia entered the Great Hall, looking forward to grabbing a quick breakfast before morning classes. Focused as she was on a piece of parchment that contained her homework for Ancient Runes, the fourth-year had just enough spare attention to find her way to the Gryffindor table without bumping into anyone. Any festive decorations would have gone quite unnoticed... She seated herself and drew a jug of pumpkin juice closer to fill her glass, frowning slightly at the mistranslation of 'Perthro'. It would have to be corrected before she could turn the assignment in.
A group of particularly giggly third-years seated nearby was making it difficult to concentrate. It sounded as though they had been practicing the Cheering Charm on each other and went a bit too far with it. Silvia raised her eyes from the parchment and was about to ask them to lower their voices when her gaze fell on the envelope in one of the girls' hands... An envelope decorated with sparkly little hearts that were enchanted to change colour every few seconds. Feeling a sudden surge of dread and completely forgetting her runes, Silvia looked around. A few other people seemed to have received similarly ornamented notes. There was a spray of pink confetti somewhere nearby, a lot more girlish giggling was now getting registered by her panicking brain, and she could have sworn she heard musical notes coming from a letter one of the staff members had received. Oh no, oh no, OH NO, went the part-Veela's inner monologue as the realization set in. It was today! How could she forget..?!
Ever since she started her public education, Valentine's Day had been causing varying degrees of embarrassment to Silvia. Had she remembered that today was February 14th, she would have given the Great Hall a wide berth. Especially after last year's ordeal back at Salem, when she received half a dozen letters - one of which came from an eleven-year-old boy who wrote her a very bad poem. For weeks after that, Silvia's friends teased her by quoting the horrid piece of love poetry. But this time around it might not be so dreadful, right? She didn't spend anywhere near as much time socializing as she used to, which meant she also didn't accidentally give false hope to as many boys as she did last year. She cast a furtive look upward, to make sure no owls were heading her way. Alas!
With a sudden jolt of fright, she spotted a pygmy owl circling above her, a scarlet envelope in its tiny beak. The miniature bird dropped the letter in Silvia's lap, hooted proudly, and flew away. As she stared at the garishly coloured envelope, its corners began to smoulder. Her heart sank. A Howler! Somebody had sent her a blasted Howler! And it most certainly contained a love note, judging by the hearts drawn on the bright red paper. Who thought it would be romantic to mail her a screaming piece of correspondence? Her Charm must have addled the sender's brain! Awakening from her horrified stupour, Silvia snatched the envelope and ran for it.
She was halfway to the door when the Howler began bellowing some hapless fool's confession of love...
It may of been lover's day but today was a day Louis decided to dedicate to himself rather than dedicating it to the other people who may not of even knew Louis existed. The previous years he had been very lucky in gaining quite an interest from a variety of people but this year he chose to just lay low and focus on himself.
It was getting close to 10:00 in the morning when Lou was brushing his teeth when he noticed what looked like a shimmer of light go flashing through the window of the Hufflepuff Men's bathroom. His initial thoughts were to spit out all the foaming residue and go investigate. A normal person would just go and follow their curiosity however, Louis was not a normal person.
He at the reflection of the mirror as he took out his many facial products and began pampering his face with a variety of concoctions, creams, gels and even a face mask. Slather, wash, slather and repeat. Someone had the job at Hogwarts to be the local Third Year heartthrob and that was Louis. "It's not easy being this cute and attractive. He whispered as he tilted his heath to either side admiring just how soft his skin was.
" Hmmmm... " He whispered as he began walking back to that little shimmer which he soon discovered was a snow owl leaving a letter on the nearby table. There was no one else around in the Common Room which was also out of the ordinary, Cautiously he approached the letter which seemed to be directed to him. He slowly opened it which caused a little magical reaction causing a pink dust to go flying about filled with little red hearts. " Oh wow... " He whispered watching the hearts and dust fade as he looked down to read out the writing.
"Roses are red, Violets are blue, I don't know about you but I'd like to Hufflepuff you.
- Xoxo "
Suddenly Louis felt a rush of warmth run through his whole body as blood began to rush around his face feeling his heart beating ever so slightly faster. He coughed slightly as he scrunched up the letter and ran back toward the bathroom watching the snow owl fly away in the corner of his eye.
"Okay Breath Louis!" He whispered as his breathing began to get faster and faster as he looked up at the mirror and watched his hair go from a brown ash colour to a bright red which matched his cheeks. Was it embarrassment, nervousness or the anxiety of knowing someone found him attractive but he doesn't know who it was.
"HOW DO I TURN THIS THING OFF? " He screamed out loud as he suddenly heard a group of girls walk into the Common room. He looked back at the mirror which just showed his hair going through a variety of colours like it was a flying rainbow sitting above his head. " OH NO!" He screamed as he quickly bolted back toward the dorms and placed himself under his sheets.
While he enjoyed the thought of having a secret admirer, today's Valentines events turned out to be more than he bargained for. From what started out as a normal and peaceful day turned out to be a day where he was hidden under the sheets trying to control his breathing and his forever changing hair colour.

The hubbub in the Great Hall was unusually cheerful. Maeve found a free seat at the Slytherin table, watching the excited students - most of them female - with bemusement. It took her a while to realize what was the cause of such widespread delight. Once she did, a slight frown appeared on her face.
"Valentine's Day," she explained to her classmate, who had just sat down nearby and was looking quite bewildered. "I can't believe this silly celebration has been allowed to contaminate the wizarding world. It's purely a Muggle invention, I think." She picked up a piece of toast and spread some butter on it, watching owls drop off love notes to various recipients, her expression contemptuous. "It was probably fabricated to make Muggles buy more expensive candy, flowers and cards on this day. They're stupid enough to fall for it. And the Muggleborns brought this... tradition to us. What a valuable cultural contribution."
She ate in silence after that, not daring to rant anymore lest someone overhear her criticism of the precious Muggleborns. Having lost her appetite, Maeve found that a single piece of toast was sufficient nourishment for now. The fourth-year was about to rise from the table when she noticed a paper aeroplane floating toward her. It circled her head several times and was diving nose-first into a jug of milk when she caught it, her Seeker instincts kicking in before her brain could decide if the action should be performed at all.
She unfolded the aeroplane and read the note inscribed on it. It was addressed to her, and contained a confession about someone's secret feelings. Maeve's face became impassive as she read it. Was this a prank? Or did some boy truly harbour romantic hopes toward her? There was a tingle of delight in her chest at the thought, although she suppressed it quickly. No, she would not be caught enjoying herself in a Muggle-invented celebration. Looking up from the note, she surveyed the hall, hoping to somehow identify the sender. However, she did not notice anyone watching her, or looking at all suspicious. Her eyes went back to the text.
This may just be a joke, or she might indeed have a secret admirer. On the off chance that the admirer turned out to be a scion of a respectable family, Maeve decided not to thwart his hopes by showing any negative emotions. Careful to keep her expression unreadable, she pocketed the piece of parchment. During the upcoming lessons, she would have to sneak glances at her peers' class notes... just in case one of their handwriting matched the calligraphy of this letter.
Felicty’s footsteps echoed along the corridor as she headed towards her office. She walked with her head leading, she had things to do and they certainly weren’t going to wait for her to catch up. She was perfectly aware that the date was February 14th, and it didn’t matter to her in the slightest. She was blissfully unaware of what a relationship felt like, having never been in one, and intended to keep it that way. At least, that’s what she told herself.
Turning the cold brass handle, she entered her office and found a letter on her desk. This was no surprise, it was probably just a note from someone about classes. But Liccy, normal notes don’t have hearts on them! a voice whispered in her head. The parchment had little pink handrawn hearts around the wax seal, which was shaped like a rose. Slightly confused, she slit open the envelope and unfolded the letter within. Her heart dropped, it was indeed as she had thought.
Dearest Felicity,
This letter may come as a surprise to you, I am not sure. It seems strange, but I cannot withhold this fire in my heart any longer. It is a fire that burns whenever I see your beautiful wavy hair, your sparkling eyes, the way you smile. How I long to share a conversation with you someday!
Felicity, I don’t mean to seem invasive at all, but how can I stay silent about this wondrous feeling! I am certain that nature will bring us together at some point, for we may be closer than you think.
Love, Your secret admirer xoxo
Bloody hell. Felicity needed to sit down for a moment. Was this a joke? A prank? A trap? Or perhaps someone really, truly did care about her. Her head was spinning, she struggled to take in her surroundings. “How could anyone love me?” she wondered. “Awkward Felicity, who got bullied at school, has no friends, and can barely hold a conversation with anyone?” she rested her head on the desk, hiding for a moment in her little bubble where everything made sense. It felt like she had experienced more pain than love recently. The weight of losing her brother still felt heavy on her chest, and she didn’t have a lot of contact with her parents. Was she overreacting? Was this just a silly lighthearted note, which her desperate heart had taken to mean genuine love? These were life’s questions. She felt like a little 13 year old kid again, confused about the world and unable to even live her life at an age when she was supposed to be living it to the fullest. She lifted her head up, deciding to stay in her office for most of the day.
Pepper hadn't really been paying attention when suddenly there was a piece of paper in front of her. Her first idea was to just ignore and instead look at whoever was near her. She didn't know what she wanted to do. There were people around her, even if she didn't really know who they were. There was a lot going on, but she wasn't really paying attention.
Eating her meal, she kept looking at the paper. Who would send her something in the mail? Part of her was thinking about just destroying the letter. It didn't look like something her family would send her. And would any of her friends send something? Wait. She'd have to have friends for that.
Once her meal was done, she opened the letter. She didn't even get far into it when she realized it was something to do with the blasted holiday. Well that wasn't something she wanted to think about or deal with. So instead she set it on fire with a quick spell and simply went back to her meal. She didn't need to know anything about it. She could happily live in a blissfully silent life away from love.
