It looked as if Slytherin was about to win the House Cup -- Again. The Great Hall was decorated entirely in the Slytherin colours. The Slytherin banners were decorated around the Hall, showing off the mascot. The Slytherin snake hissed around the room, surrounded by green and silver decorations.
((Albus Dumbledore, would you like to carry on and announce the placings?))

Dumbledore stood up from his chair and walked up. He raised both of his hands to get the students attention.
"Another year gone!" He spoke, clearly and loudly. "What a year it has been! Hopefully you all had a good and fun year. Now, as I understand it, the House Cup here needs awarding and the points are..." He put his hands down. "Fourth place, goes to Hufflepuff, with thirty points; Third place; Ravenclaw, with seventy points; Gryffindor with one-hundred and ten points; and finally, Slytherin, with one hundred and thirty points." A storom of cheering and stamping broke out from the Slytherin table. Dumbledore rised his hands once more and the room fell silent.
'Yes, Yes, well done, Slytherin,' Dumbledore said over the noise. 'However, there are a couple of last minute changes that muse be taken into account.' They Slytherins' smiles faded a little.
'Ahem,' said Dumbledore. 'I have one last minute points to dish out. Let me see...Yes..." He looked at Harry and smiled. "To Mr. Harry Potter, for pure nerve and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor house fifty points.' The Gyffindor table started yelling themselves harse knew that they just won. Dumbledore raised his hands to get the room silent.
'Which means, we need a little change of decoration.' Dumbledore clapped his hands and in an instant, the green hangings became scarlet and the silver became gold. The huge Slytherin serpent vanished as a towering Gryffindor lion took its place. He went over to shake other teacher's hands.

((This is for the second year. Albus Dumbledore hasn't been on for a while, so I'll post this.))
The Great Hall was once again decorated in Slytherin's colours -- green and silver. But this time, it didn't look like Gryffindor was going to get some extra points last minute. Sure, Harry Potter saved Ginny Weasley from the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, but Dumbledore couldn't possibly give him 300 points for that.
Professor Dumbledore announced the points, starting from the bottom as usual. Gryffindor was in last place with 23 points. Hufflepuff took third with 45 points. Ravenclaw ended up in second place with 93 points and Slytherin took the cup with 324 points. The other houses will have to work pretty hard to beat Slytherin the next year. They'll be looking pretty smug with over 200 points above any other house.

Yet again, for the third year in a row, Slytherin had won the House Cup. Of course, a certain Gryffindor did exceptionally well in his Potions essay, but that didn't do enough to beat Slytherin.
Hufflepuff won 76 points, in which most of those points were from Hestia's Outstanding exam. Gryffindor was in third place after fighting with Ravenclaw for second place all year. They ended up with 159 points and Ravenclaw, who was in second place, ended up with 201 points. Slytherin had taken an early lead early on in the year and ended their streak with 559 points.
The Slytherins celebrated throughout the night, while the rest of the school had to go back to their common rooms in defeat once again. May be next year they would pull up their socks and earn more points before the end of the year.

Right up until the end, Slytherin was winning the House Cup. Everyone expected them to, just like the past two years. Even three years ago, they were awfully close. If Harry hadn't have stopped Quirrel from getting the Philosopher's Stone, Slytherin would have won the House Cup -- along with other disasterous effects.
In the end, though, Hufflepuff ended up with 122 points -- most of them earned by Hestia Burke. Ravenclaw earned 225 and a third place. They were in second at one time, but slipped near the end. Slytherin ended up in second place, to the applause of Gryffindor table. Slytherin obtained 384 points and was unable to beat Gryffindor who earned 449 points throughout the year. All the school, except for the Slytherins, celebrated that night. Finally, after two years of Slytherin's victory, Gryffindor could hold the House Cup again.

Gryffindor thought that they had a good chance this year, but it looked like their chance was gone. With Umbridge and Snape teaching at Hogwarts, all they got was points taken away every other day. It was surprising that they had any points at all.
All in all, the Houses earned more points than they ever had before. Hufflepuff was in last place, but earned 233 points. Ravenclaw took third again, with 248 points. In other years, those amounts of points would have nearly won the House Cup, but this year, all the Houses were fighting up until the end. Gryffindor ended up with 663 points at the end of the year, which landed them in second place. Yet again, Slytherin won with 766 points. They lost the previous year to Gryffindor and couldn't stand losing again. Crabbe himself said that they would beat them the following year, and for once, he was right. The year was gone and now all the Houses would have a clean slate. Anyone could get the next House Cup, even Hufflepuff.

It had been quite an eventful year when it came to House Points. For a while, Ravenclaw was in the lead by a long shot, with Hufflepuff in second place, Gryffindor in third and Slytherin, very surprisingly, in last place. The tables had turned right around and it looked that, finally, someone else would win the House Cup. However, it seemed that fate intervened and Slytherin got a burst of points at the end of the year and surpassed Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.
In last place was Hufflepuff, yet again, but with more points than they'd ever gotten before. They earned a total of 292 points. Gryffindor was in third place, which wasn't what they wanted or expected at all. They achieved 318 points through the year, very close to Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw managed to end up in second place, which was very good for them. However, they couldn't help but feel bad about being so close to defeating Slytherin. Slytherin won first place, yet again, with 466 points. The Great Hall was decorated in green and silver yet again and the rest of the school was left to go back to their common rooms and try harder the next year.

Yet again, the Great Hall was decorated in green and silver. Gryffindor had put up a good fight, but in the end, they were unable to beat Slytherin. There had been a pattern of Gryffindor winning once and Slytherin winning twice, but now that was broken. Most of the school sat down at their tables in low spirits, while the Slytherin students boasted guiltlessly.
In last place, Hufflepuff attained 135 points. Now that Hestia had graduated, though, that number was likely to decrease. Ravenclaw ended up in third place with 206 points. At one time they were behind Hufflepuff, but at the end of the year, they managed to pass them. Gryffindor took second place with 562 points. However, they were far from Slytherin's 744 points that got them the House Cup for three years in a row. When will another House be able to beat them again?

For the first time in three years, the Great Hall wasn't decorated in the usual green and silver. It was surrounded by red and gold, which made most of the school very happy. This year, the House Cup was very uncertain at times of which house would get it. For a very long time, Hufflepuff was in the lead, which was very exciting for a lot of people. Every year, Hufflepuff always ended up in last place and they were never in first place for so long. However, in the end, they didn't win. But this year was their best year yet.
In last place was Slytherin, with 339 points. It was very shocking, because even when they didn't win, they were usually in at least second place. Third place was Hufflepuff, who earned more points than they ever did before. They got a total of 416 points, which was exceptional compared to any year previously. Second place was Ravenclaw with 450 points and first place went to Gryffindor, who had 516 points. Gryffindor celebrated that night in their common room after Slytherin's reign of House Points for three years was finally broken again.

For the first time, since anyone could ever remember, the Great Hall was decorated in yellow and black. It was a very joyous occasion because they were the colours of Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff had never won before, but how could they when, in early years, Hestia Burke had been the only one to give them points! However, there were quite a few Hufflepuffs who earned a lot of points for their house now. Hestia's legacy lived on.
Since the Triwizard Tournament had occurred that year, Firenze and Beauxbatons took part in the points race as well. However, Beauxbatons ended up in last place with 307 points. Firenze was in fifth place with 496 points. Fourth place was given to Slytherin [which was quite a surprise!]. They earned a total of 958 points. For the first time in history, a house earned more than a thousand points! However, it wasn't just one house. It was the top three placing houses. Third place went to Gryffindor, who earned 1233 points. Second place was given to Ravenclaw, who earned 1255 points. And first place was given to the dedicated Hufflepuff, the house that had the least number of members, but who had very dedicated ones. They earned 1278 points in total and the House Cup and bragging rights for a whole year! Everyone congratulated them [except for the Slytherins, of course]. Hufflepuff definitely earned their House Cup and deserved it very well.

For the sixth time in the past ten years, Slytherin had won again. They had been in first place for pretty much the entire year, but Ravenclaw had been very determined to beat them in the end. However, it didn't prove to be enough, because Slytherin came out on top once again. Even though they didn't win in the past two years, it still seemed like they always won. Their legacy would continue on forever.
Hufflepuff, unlike last year, was well in last place, and trying to cough up the dust from the other three houses. Hufflepuff earned only 534 points. In third place was Ravenclaw, with 1046 points. Second place was Gryffindor with 1268 points. Slytherin only beat them by 19 points. They earned a total 1287 points and the House Cup yet again. They would carry it for another year. Was this the start of another winning streak for Slytherin?

Yet again, the Great Hall was decorated in green and silver. Many disappointed faces could be seen throughout the hall, especially the Ravenclaws'. They had been so close to winning this year, so close to finally beating the Slytherins, but unfortunately the Slytherins had come up with a nasty swipe at the end of the race.
Hufflepuff was in last place again with 317 points. Their win a few years back was a mere memory now and they doubted that they would win any time soon. However, they still always had hope. Gryffindor landed the spot of third place with 498 points, not that far ahead of Hufflepuff. They wondered what went wrong, though it was apparent that the new Potions professor didn't like them at all. It wasn't fair to blame her completely, but the Gryffindors didn't care how unfair it was to blame a certain professor. It was the easiest visible way. Ravenclaw ended up in second place after a nasty fight for the spot of first place with Slytherin. They had been in first place for most of the year, but right at the end of the year, Slytherin shot past them, leaving Ravenclaw in the dust with only 938 points. Slytherin, of course, earned first place and the House Cup yet again. With 1042 points, they secured the House Cup as their own yet again and wouldn't resist gloating to the other houses about it for another full year. Would anyone be able to beat them, especially with the new Headmaster and Potions professor on their side?

The race had been quite a tough one this year. Two houses were competing for first and second place, while the other two were battling it out for third. It was clear that the two fighting for third place would never catch up to the other two, who had more than double of their points, but no house wanted to be stuck in last place.
However, just like the last year, and most years, Hufflepuff ended up in last place with 611 points. They had actually been quite close to beating Gryffindor at some point, but Gryffindor gained a few last minute points, beating them. Gryffindor didn't beat them too badly, though, as they ended up in third place with 630 points. Through a rough time of gaining point after point, Ravenclaw and Slytherin actually ended fairly close to each other, just like Gryffindor and Hufflepuff had. However, they were well ahead of them. Ending up in second place, Slytherin earned a total of 1361 points throughout the year. However, that wasn't good enough to beat Ravenclaw who earned a total of 1396 and first place.
For the entire end of term feast, the hall was decorated in Ravenclaw's colours, for the first time in over 15 years. None of the students had an recollection of Ravenclaw winning while being there and not even the generation before them did either. It was quite an event to end the strange and cruel year, but at least the Ravenclaws could have one happy night in their common room. Even Kienmayer von Tepes couldn't take away their happiness on this night.

Hogwarts gathered in the Great Hall for the end of the year feast. The year marked a number of changes for Hogwarts. The most striking being the Tepes Army's control over Hogwarts and the edicts that came with it. Understandably the house points for the year were not as high as previous years.
As the year came to a close the winner of the house cup became a battle between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. When the exam results were in a clear winner was declared, and for the second year in a row Ravenclaw was declared the winner of the house cup with 707 points. The Great Hall was decorated in Blue and Black with Ravenclaw's banner shining proudly along the walls and ceiling.
In second place was Gryffindor with an impressive 677 points. The school year was a disappointing year for Slytherin and Hufflepuff students who struggled to earn point to catch up with the leading houses. In the end it was Slytherin in third with 453 points and Hufflepuff in fourth with 401 points.

Yet again, the Hogwarts staff and students gathered into the Great Hall for the End of Term feast. They were all awaiting the House Cup award, but it went to the House who had previously had it for the past two years.
In last place was Hufflepuff with 298 points. Third place was Slytherin with 817 points. They were quite disappointed that they ended up in third place again. The younger students decided to do all they could to win the next year. This just wasn't acceptable anymore.
Gryffindor took second place with 1177 points. They were neck and neck with Ravenclaw all year and had fought hard to the end, but Ravenclaw ended up winning the House Cup for a third year in a row with 1240 points.
The Ravenclaws cheered and celebrated quite well that night, while the other houses returned to their common rooms with low spirits.
