rutherford sign-ups
All classes available at Rutherford for the 2026-2027 year will be listed here, along with the students enrolled.
Rutherford expanded into having some certificate and diploma programs, kind of like a community college. We won't ever expand into having degrees like a university, however.
Graduating a Program (Diploma/Certificate):
As you won't have to complete an exam to complete a program, you will be required to roleplay doing something specific for your program. Some can be done any time during the year, while some are done at the end of term. It's different for every program. Ex. Law Enforcement students can roleplay any time during their last year doing their Work Experience at the Ministry of Magic, while Culinary students host, organize and cook a charity dinner in May/June.
Completing NEWT Upgrades:
It will either be roleplayed or points allocated. If points allocated, you get bonus points for roleplay studying or attending class at Rutherford, so keep that in mind, but only roleplays up until the end of June will count.
Click here to see what NEWTs you need for jobs when you graduate.
But by graduating a program, you get automatic acceptance into a particular field, depending on the program. It should be clear which ones in the descriptions, but if you're not sure, just ask. <3
certificates & diplomas
As this is essentially a community college, each diploma is only a 2 year program and each certificate is only a 1 year program. Right now, there are only a few but that may change in the future.
Each diploma and certificate have set classes. They may be able to take an elective course as well, which means they can choose from any class that isn't in their mandatory list for their diploma or certificate.
If they have "Work Experience" listed, it means they will get to be on the job for six weeks. This happens during the summer after their last year. If they want to keep working in that job, they'll be hired. Or you can choose something else for them.
