The expansion is finally complete on Rutherford School! It's been a long time coming as the planning for this started years ago.
If you're not aware, it's the small college for adults located in Hogsmeade. Started in 2001, it was a place where people could go to upgrade their NEWT scores if they didn't do very well at Hogwarts. In 2015, the school expanded to include a few diploma and certificate programs.
Now currently in 2026, a few things have happened:
- Built a castle for Rutherford in the mountains. This has been happening behind the scenes for at least 5 in character years.
- Created 3 new diploma programs: Potionology, Management, and Advanced Wizardry.
- Added an Innovation Wing for researchers to stay at the college and make advancements in wizardry or even invent things. They could be just there as researchers or also be a professor if 25+ years old. Graduates of the Advanced Wizardry program may stay at Rutherford as Researchers (but it isn't necessary). Have a bunch of Ravenclaws and don't know where to put them? You can put them here. (:
There currently is a grand opening event going on where everyone is welcome to attend. Otherwise, if you want your character to sign up for Rutherford next term, make sure to post in the sign-ups.
