Giovanna was born in Firenze, Italia, on January 11, 1980. Her and her family moved around a lot on account of her father being unable to hold a steady job. After her younger brother was born, however, her parents started thinking about making a serious move to another country. They looked around for good jobs for Giovanna's father and after quite a few years, they finally found a good group of people who convinced him to move him and his family to England. Giovanna was thirteen at the time and had to switch schools. She joined Hogwarts after only going to Firenze Academy for two years. Her younger brother never had the chance to go to Firenze, but all of Giovanna's older siblings had. Her older brother, Mario, went to Hogwarts for a few years, but now he has graduated.
At first, Giovanna felt quite out of place being at Hogwarts. Before, when she was in Italy, she knew a fair amount of English (because her and her family tried to prepare themselves for England before getting there), but when she got there, it was quite different. She could never switch back to Italian with any of the students there, other than her older brother, but Giovanna never got along with him. Even though they had been at the same school living together for a couple of years, they rarely talked and usually tried to avoid each other.
Adapting to life in England wasn't that hard, but it took persistance. But at the beginning of Giovanna's second year, when she was illegally in the Forbidden Forest, she ran into a fellow Slytherin second year, Draco Malfoy, and had her first kiss. After that moment, they stayed together for years. However, in Giovanna's fifth year, her father started to threaten taking her out of the country as they had decided to move once more. Giovanna and Draco tried to think of ways to keep Giovanna in the country {one possibility was getting married, but that made both of them way too scared}. In the end, though, Giovanna's parents had decided not to move.
Unfortunately, though, at the end of Giovanna's fifth year, Draco broke up with Giovanna. It was only natural, as they were young and were together for so long at such a young age, but everything about Giovanna that Draco had made nice turned bad once more. None of the Slytherins liked her anymore and of course none of the other houses did either, since Giovanna treated them like crap all her time at Hogwarts. Giovanna was completely alone, so at the end of her sixth year when the Death Eaters infiltrated Hogwarts {including her father}, she wasn't sad to leave Hogwarts behind.
That summer, her father brought her to the United States with him. He had been a Death Eater for the past couple of years and had been charged with gaining forces in the States. Of course, Voldemort's reign never lasted long enough to really affect the entire world and North America especially, but Giovanna had learned a lot that summer. It was a lot more than she could have ever learned if she had stayed at Hogwarts that year.
The Dark Arts were second nature to her when she returned to England almost a year later. The war had taken a toll on everyone, especially Draco. Giovanna did run into him a few times, but they were never pleasant. They couldn't trust each other anymore, though why they couldn't, neither of them really knew. They just knew that the other couldn't be trusted - no matter what.
Shortly after Giovanna returned, she journeyed back to Hogwarts once more. It wouldn't be her last visit there, but she sure had hoped it would be. Lare Blood, a student Death Eater, was in charge of recruiting his fellow students, but Giovanna knew that he wasn't doing his job at all. She wasn't sent there by the Dark Lord at all, but she was taking it into her own hands. He needed to be punished.
Giovanna had only intended to scare him enough into doing his job properly, but when he drove her over the edge {with the mention of Draco and how it hadn't worked out between them}, Giovanna killed him. She ran out of Hogwarts and disapparated as soon as she reached outside of the Hogwarts grounds. No one ever found out that she killed Lare, but after this day, she found herself in quite a dark place. Teasing mudbloods and being a proud pure blood was a lot different than actually committing murder.
Giovanna unfortunately decided to pay a visit to Draco Malfoy a few months later, feeling quite low about everything. She didn't know what to do with herself anymore and Giovanna soon found out that Draco felt the same way. With what he did at the end of their sixth year at Hogwarts, he didn't know who he could trust anymore and he felt quite weird about what he had done. Giovanna and him found a common ground again, but there was no hope of getting back together... yet.
Giovanna found in Diagon Alley in August of 1999, just like many others. She was reunited with a lot of her old classmates who she wished never to see again. At the sight of Eliza Cunningham, Giovanna tried to kill her {for the first time}, but was unsuccessful. After that, she turned on Bill Weasley, Ron's older brother, and took quite pleasure in ending his life.
After the Dark Lord was defeated and most of the Death Eaters were arrested, Giovanna fled. She wasn't going to end up in Azkaban if she could help it, so she travellled from town to town for years. Giovanna travelled in Italy a lot, and England, France and the rest of Europe as well. For years, she was obsessed with survival. Living and living 'free' was all that mattered to her. Getting caught by the Ministry was like death to her because she surely would have gotten sent to Azkaban in a second. She had killed quite a few people by then and by 'surviving', she had to kill many more {including some Ministry officials}.
However, after a few years, Giovanna found herself in the forest of Hogwarts yet again. She didn't know why she was attracted there. May be it was the fact that it was the place where it had all began, where she had killed Lare Blood in the shadows of the trees, but either way, fate had worked well that day. She met a werewolf, Kienmayer von Tepes, in the forest. He had killed Nick Ford, some Gryffindor Hogwarts student, and Giovanna and Kienmayer found themselves to have quite common goals. Well, Giovanna just wanted to survive, but Kienmayer did have a lot bigger goals than just surviving and he had something to offer Giovanna, so she agreed to go to his estate for dinner.
She didn't know why she even trusted him, but she knew that she could always kill him with a flick of her wand, so she followed him to his castle. He was quite young, only around sixteen -- not even a full grown wizard -- but he had an air about him that told Giovanna that he was no child. Giovanna wasn't afraid of him by any means, but she knew that he could help her if he said he could.
Kienmayer had a place where Giovanna could stay, where she could stop running from the Ministry. On the other hand, Giovanna had a skill that Kienmayer most desperately needed. He told her of his plans to bring down the Ministry and he told her of his motives - for those who were inequal, werewolves and others like his kind. Giovanna knew that her family would not be happy with her for doing this, but had they helped her when she was in her most desperate time of need? No. Giovanna didn't care for the Galluccis much anymore. Sure, they had the right ideas, but when it came to action, they didn't always pull through unless it benefitted them greatly. So, Giovanna joined Kienmayer's army. Well, she didn't just join it. She was his right hand person, along with Vasili Petrovsky, the equivalent of Giovanna in Russian form.
Giovanna and Vasili worked with the recruits Kienmayer managed to get. Giovanna worked on their wand work, their magical abilities, while Vasili worked on the physical attacks, with bows and swords. Life was grand again. Giovanna had a place to live without having to run and she had even hooked up with Draco for the first time and they were together. No Pansy, no anyone else. Life was perfect.
When Kienmayer had decided that it was time to attack Hogsmeade, Giovanna was right there with him. But, of course, she had to be there. Of course she did. Eliza Cunningham was at Hogsmeade that day and slipped right out of Giovanna's fingers once more. Giovanna could have killed her with her scream itself. She wanted that girl dead. She had wanted that girl dead for as long as she could remember, but she knew that she would get her eventually.
After Eliza escaped, Giovanna found another toy. The toy also had a boyfriend and they were quite fun to play with. However, Vanessa {a not quite so smart soldier in the army} attempted to take Giovanna's candy and let it escape. Giovanna never forgave her and would get her revenge one day.
Kienmayer and his army were successful in taking over Hogsmeade. It became their home base for the next few months and at the end of the year, they took over Hogwarts. Giovanna found her candy again, but unfortunately, there was no Eliza. She did have fun with the Gryffindor girl, though. Apparently, she was Head Girl {which was prominent on the front of her robes at Hogwarts} and there was no boyfriend there. Giovanna was unable to kill her, but at least she did some damage to Flitwick, who had apparently hoped that Giovanna would change. When would he learn that some things were the way they were for a reason? Giovanna didn't need friends, she didn't need anyone but Draco and she definitely didn't need people telling her that she had taken a wrong turn in life. It was the only turn she could have made and she would have done it again if she had to.
After that day, things went well for Giovanna and the army. Hogwarts was under Kienmayer's rule, which forced Giovanna to be there sometimes. It wasn't necessarily pleasant being there at the school with a bunch of annoying children, but it was a lot better being on the run.
Since things had calmed down once more, Giovanna took the time to pay her dear old friend Vanessa a visit once more. Giovanna never forgot or forgave anyone and the visit resulted in Vanessa's death. Giovanna had gone there for that very purpose, not caring about others' lives anymore {except Draco}, and took the opportunity to turn Vanessa into something useful: a Horcrux. Giovanna hid it in England, which is why she still wants to go back one day - to make sure it's safe. But at this moment, she had no idea that she would have to flee the country.
After less than a year of having Hogwarts under his control, Kienmayer decided that it was time to bring his forces upon the Ministry of Magic. Giovanna thought that it was probably too soon, but Kienmayer didn't, so they went. It went fairly well at first and they were pretty evenly matched, but in the end, Kienmayer's army fell. Giovanna disapparated to New Orleans in an instant, not wanting to see just how badly they lost. She knew that once Kienmayer's army fell, he would have no use for her and she would not be able to stay in the country. She always knew that, so she had told Draco in advance that if anything were to go wrong, to meet her in New Orleans. And so, they met there. Giovanna thought that she heard that Kienmayer was in South America somewhere, but it didn't matter. Her life in England was now over. If she were to ever go back, it would be in quite some time.
After a few more years of being on the run again, Giovanna decided that it was time to clear her name. She couldn't be known as the person who helped Kienmayer get the rights for werewolves and vampires. That was so beneath her and not at all what she should have been doing. She had been coerced by thoughts of freedom and not having to be on the run anymore. While Giovanna could survive that way, it wasn't very comfortable. She had become a paranoid shadow of her former self. The best part about working with Kienmayer was having power again, money, good clothes and finally being somebody again. But now Giovanna knew she could get those things back if she returned to England and tried to undo the work that Kienmayer fought so hard for.
Giovanna met with some of her old alliances, some of the people who had been Death Eaters with her only less than a decade ago. She met with Sire first, then broke Bellatrix out of Azkaban. She brought the Death Eaters back.
It took a few years, but they quickly took over control of Hogwarts. They segregated the creatures from the rest of the students. Some of them fleed to other schools who would still accept them, like Firenze Academy. However, for those who stayed, they had creature teachers just like themselves (filth with filth). Everyone knew that Giovanna wouldn't stop there, though. She was only correcting her wrongs, but soon she would start a war on the muggleborns once more, making wizarding Britain even better.
However, the moment Giovanna met with the leader of the opposite group ('The Revolution'), she knew that she could no longer do this. It was coincidentally her childhood sweetheart. Back in Italy, Giovanna had deep feelings for him. She visited with him every summer for a few years into her Hogwarts schooling, but eventually stopped. He wasn't right for her. He was a werewolf and while he hadn't wanted such a curse thrust upon him, Giovanna knew that he was not worthy. He was a creature, beneath her. Her heart told her otherwise, but she had stopped listening to that quite a while ago.
Giovanna didn't respond to his letters and never saw him again. But then, a decade and a half later, they both saw each other face to face once more. Being the leaders of the opposite sides of the war, they were on guard and couldn't be more paranoid about each other. They were both convinced that the other would kill them and almost would let them willingly, feeling guilty about how things had ended between them. Both of them had changed from the innocent teenagers they had once been. They were hardened by life and by war, yet could both see each other through all of the thick exterior. They fled England together that night and were never seen of again.
Through her years at Hogwarts, Giovanna made a few friends, but she always had trouble trusting them. She became well acquainted with Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson and the rest of the gang.
She dated Nate Hedaire for a short while, but it ended by the end of her sixth year. She had liked him, but she knew it could never be love. He was too detached for that to happen with Giovanna. Their relationship had been an intriguing one on both sides, though. Giovanna was the innocent, young student to Nate. Nate was the mysterious vampire to Giovanna. But when they actually got to know each other, they found that they were both too similar. May be if he had dated an actual innocent student, like some Gryffindor or Hufflepuff girl, he would have had better luck. But there was hatred in Giovanna's heart and it didn't work out.
Just in time for her to leave Hogwarts, they broke up. Giovanna left with her father shortly after that to become a Death Eater. She went with him for the next year, helping him get more worthy recruits for the Death Eaters. Giovanna participated in skirmishes and fights around England during that year, becoming better at the Dark Arts each day.
When the war turned to the steps of Hogwarts, Giovanna appeared there, just like the rest of the Death Eaters. It was there where she met her match. She attempted to kill Fred Weasley and Eliza Cunningham, but unfortunately Eliza got away again. Fred, George and Robinson apprehended Giovanna, while Alex (Giovanna's good friend during school) distracted and helped them. He had been trying to help her, but Giovanna didn't see it that way at all. Luckily, her actual friend from Hogwarts, Pandora, came to her rescue so Giovanna could return to the fight.
The next year, Giovanna returned to Hogwarts. After Voldemort and the Death Eaters fell, she knew she had two choices: either be a fugitive for life or claim innocence. She chose the latter, claiming that she was young and impressionable. Her friend Alex vouched for her that she had changed her ways part way through the battle. So she returned to Hogwarts with Draco, Harry, Hermione, Ron and Eliza. She mostly kept to herself and hung out with Draco and Alex. Draco and Giovanna both found that they didn't know their place in the world anymore and were trying to discover that together. Despite Alex's stupid wand throwing nearly getting her killed the previous year, they became close as well and Giovanna even fell for him. They kissed but when he rejected a relationship with her, that sent her spiralling. She had become so vulnerable with him and now that was all betrayed.
She ran off into the world, travelling from country to country, learning all she could about the Dark Arts. It seemed that there were very different spells and enchantments and Dark objects in other parts of the world than Britain and it pleased her to dive deep into her darkest self.
Three years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Giovanna returned to Britain and found the country in a disappointing state. The 'good' guys had won and it was far too pleasant for them. They had overrun the country and it was filled with equal rights for scum and the worthy. Giovanna was angry that there was no one trying to stop it. There was no one trying to fight for what was right and pure in the world anymore. So, using some of the objects she had procured in her travels, she blew up three shops in Diagon Alley. It was during a festival dedicated to the Order and all of those who defeated the Death Eaters. And Giovanna ruined their day. Tens of people died that day and it was the first day in her journey to make the country proper once more - to make the purebloods the strong ones, as they should be.
After that, she worked on gaining allies for a couple of years. To start out, a lot were relatives, like Carla and Annetta Moretti, and Giovanna got Fabbio to convince Alessandro Gallucci to join in as well. He wasn't big on fighting as much as Fabbio was, but out of loyalty to their family and his close relationship to Fabbio, he helped Giovanna's cause in Britain as well. She also recruited a vampire who she didn't know very well, but proved to be a worthy ally in a fight. A vampire was always good for distraction. Their bloodlust and the vision of them drinking the blood of some victim was always flashy and distracted them enough so Giovanna and her other allies could do what they came there to do.
The Ministry was after Giovanna during this time, so she stayed low and had to meet her allies in secret places. Of course her family and extended family was being tailed as well, so meeting with Carla proved to be a little difficult. But Giovanna found a way.
She was gaining allies and even took a student under her wing as a protege. She knew that he was worth it from what Fabbio said and she trusted his judgement more than anyone else. She knew that Fabbio wouldn't lead her astray and even though he was young, she knew that he would be a very worthy ally once he was old and skilled enough to be able to fight along side her.
Giovanna would meet Syrus Abercrombie in the Forbidden Forest to train him on the Dark Arts. They started with the Unforgiveable Curses, as they were very useful in a fight. Though they had to first start with the intention behind performing Dark magic. It was quite a bit different than normal magic and required more than just saying the words and waving the wand correctly.
In the spring of 2003, Giovanna, along with her seven allies, attacked Hogwarts. Well, it was all with the intention of kidnapping Hermione Granger, who was a professor there. It was strange to be back at Hogwarts, but Giovanna focused on the task at hand. Although, she did get distracted when she saw Eliza Cunningham. She whisked off to try and kill her. She so wanted to kill her, see Eliza's life leave her and know that she was the one to successfully do it. After Eliza escaped her during the Battle of Hogwarts five years prior, Giovanna knew that she wouldn't let her get away again.
Eliza even made it easy for her - she offered her up herself almost on a silver platter to try and distract Giovanna from hurting other people. But what Eliza didn't realize was that Giovanna wasn't there just to hurt and kill people at Hogwarts. No, she had a very specific purpose and killing Eliza was only a secondary goal.
Unfortunately, Eliza hid and got away. Giovanna had quite a few duels during the battle - which really became a far bigger battle than she thought it would be, especially since there were only eight of them attacking the castle. They really were just trying to sneak in, grab Hermione, and go. Giovanna assumed there must have been other people there who took advantage of the chaotic time to wreak their own havoc as well.
Giovanna even dueled on the moving staircases with Amaury Collingwood. Eventually, though, she found her way to Hermione, knocked her unconscious and floated her body down the stairs and into the Entrance Hall. She went through the front doors and hurried along the lawns, as she wouldn't be able to disapparate until she left the grounds of Hogwarts. It was there where Harry and Eliza caught up to her. They ran after her and she grinned back at them as she stepped off the property and disapparated away with her prize.
That summer was very delightful for her. Even though she hated and wanted to kill Eliza intensely, she also hated Hermione a lot. She took great pleasure in all of the torture techniques she used on her that summer in the cabin in Spain. It was in the middle of nowhere and they were never found. Of course, Giovanna had many enchantments on the place as well. She was sure that many people looked, including Eliza and Potter, and their failed attempts at retrieving their friend gave Giovanna great pleasure too.
Eventually, though, it was time for Giovanna's summer with Hermione to come to an end. Completely broken mentally and physically, Hermione had given up hope of escaping at that point. Giovanna took her away from the cabin and she was sure that Hermione thought she was going to die. But that would be too easy for her. No, Giovanna had to let her suffer a little more first. She apparated them to Diagon Alley and made a display of Hermione there. It was grotesque and Giovanna left her with a message in the ground: 'Fight the war that matters.'
For over a year, Britain was in a war with Italy and it clearly was not the war that mattered. Country vs. country didn't matter when blood purity was at stake. It was ridiculous how the Ministry cared more about killing Italians than Mudbloods and muggles. That wasn't what mattered. If anything, there were more purebloods in Italy than Britain, so there was no point to killing them. Giovanna even seemed to be a symbol of Italy to the Ministry from her fiasco in Diagon Alley, which was absolutely ridiculous too. They threw her in the cluster of reasons why they needed to have a war against Italy - reasons why Italy wanted to take over Britain. It was all absolutely crazy. Giovanna had lived in Britain for over twelve years. That was more than half her life. If anything, she had more loyalty to Britain than Italy, though she knew that she would never feel completely English. She was Italian through and through.
The next little while, Giovanna gained more allies and decided that she needed a name for her group. She started to sign it at the location of the killings and attacks her group did. She decided on Mortenero. It came from 'morte ab nero', which meant 'death by nero', though the Daily Prophet decided it meant Black Death, like the Plague from hundreds of years ago. Either way, though, it instilled fear in people and that was the point. Giovanna wanted them to be afraid, to be affected by them. She wanted them to know that they were there and that what they fought for was important. The stupid war between Britain and Italy wasn't what mattered. Blood purity mattered and knowing who was on top and should be on top was what the country should have been concerned about.
Eventually, Potter got his little friends together to bring the Order together again to try and defeat Mortenero. It was nice, at least, to have a bit of a push, to have at least a somewhat worthy opponent. But the Order never succeeded. Mortenero was too skilled, too large for the Order to be able to defeat.
At one point, she dueled her sister (well completely disowned and not at all her sister anymore), Viola, in the middle of Hogsmeade. It proved to be quite the fight. Giovanna expected it, though, as Viola was an Auror and they did need to be able to fight well, even if they weren't all that smart.
Giovanna started to date Iago Crivelli. Even though he was part of the family, he wasn't really related to them. Iago's brother married into the Galluccis - some distant cousin of Giovanna's. Iago was easily employed into the Family, though by no means was he forced, as it wasn't he himself who had married into the family. But he had a thirst for blood and a fierce loyalty for family. He had taken a liking to Giovanna and started working for Mortenero. He became a great ally, especially when so many were feeling very young and not quite so capable, even if they were enthusiastic. The chemistry between them was strong and the lust between them was stronger, but that wasn't why Giovanna pursued a serious relationship with him. It was to keep him even more loyal to her. She knew that a relationship would keep him tied to her far more and his loyalty would not waver. Plus, he would always be there when she needed to relax and let off some steam. Or, more accurately, create it. She never really loved him, but she did enjoy his company, loyalty and their activities in her private cabin in Italy.
Once, when she was travelling to Sweden, she ran into Draco Malfoy. She had been meeting someone to buy a Dark object and had to of course be Polyjuiced as someone else. Out in the day, she looked like some muggle. Of course, that was such a disgusting thing for her, but she knew that she had to do whatever she could to survive. And she much preferred to survive outside of Azkaban prison.
While there, she ran into Draco Malfoy. Of course, he didn't recognize her and found her, a stranger, behaving very oddly. It wasn't until she went to the bathroom for the Polyjuice Potion to wear off when she came back outside and he saw that it was her. The muggles in the establishment, though there were few, weren't very phased by her new look. Draco recognized it was her, though, from her wearing the same outfit as the 'muggle' who had gone in there.
Their confrontation was very intense. She wanted to kill him, she wanted to murder him right then and there, for mocking her with his existence. There she was, a fugitive not even able to wear her own body all of the time, deep in the darkness. And there he was, a wife, a job, his perfect, perfect life. She wanted to murder him for it. And she also wanted to kiss him. She had never stopped having feelings for him, all those years, and apparently neither had he. Even though they had never acted on those feelings growing up, they were there. There would always be a spark between them.
The tension built up so much that Giovanna knew she had no other choice than to whisk him away back to her hotel room. She wanted to leave him behind and explode the bar behind her ,but instead, she took him with her. She didn't know why. He could have turned her in, he could have done anything. He just acted so non-chalant when he saw her. He didn't care. Oh, it was just Giovanna. And that made her want to rip his throat out.
She didn't stay in the hotel room long. She paced back and forth a couple of times before giving him a long look. He didn't say anything back and then she disapparated and didn't see him for a long time after that.
The war continued and Giovanna saw that even non-blood purists were starting to grow weary of Minister for Magic, Stuart Thawley. They didn't like being forced to fight for him on the front lines and were starting to doubt why they were even in that war to begin with. Even Potter spoke up publically against him. Giovanna agreed that it was stupid - she had the whole time - but this presented an opportunity to her that she couldn't pass up. Potter, an enemy of the state? How delicious.
Through meticulous planning, which hadn't always been Giovanna's forte, but something that she forced herself to become a lot better at in the past few years, she planned a scheme involving many parties playing their small parts, to assassinate the Minister for Magic. She even Polyjuiced herself as Percy Weasley, which was a disgusting event, but a requirement. She knew that Percy would have no problem getting close to the Minister to speak with him in his private office. She also had an ally Polyjuice as Potter just to be seen in the office so there would be witnesses saying he was there. She hired a muggle who was excellent at writing in other people's styles to write a letter seemingly from Harry to the Ministry of Magic, about how he wanted to do better than Thawley and wished he was out of office. It arrived around the same time the assassination went into place. Lastly, Giovanna Imperiused some Order Members to testify that Harry had said a speech to all of the Order of the Phoenix that he planned on killing the Minister. It was all too perfect.
But Giovanna was still an outlaw. Iago brought her on a trip out of the country, which had been quite romantic, but not really what she wanted from him. It had been quite pleasant, but the fact that she had to be so careful about everywhere she went was really getting to her. She couldn't visit old classmates without planning out her every move in order to not be seen or caught and she couldn't really trust most of them to not turn her in, either. She was sick of being on the run. She had been ever since the Diagon Alley Fiasco four years ago in 2001. So she made another scheme.
She faked her own kidnapping in the middle of nowhere in Canada. Of course, she couldn't just say that she was kidnapped and someone else was impersonating her and creating this extremist Mortenero group in her name. She had to prove it. Even though she had some allies in the Wizengamot, that only helped to a certain point. She still needed solid proof. So while she didn't actually kidnap herself for four years, she did act out quite a few weeks of it. At that time, Mortenero went pretty quiet. She actually had herself kidnapped by some lackies because she had to have a real memory of the event. Well, not just one memory, but several. She had to have the memories of her being kidnapped and starving and looking very worse for wear. She also had to escape and have the memory of that as well. She did end up killing one of the captors, though the Ministry forgave her for that. She ran away and eventually found a town and a muggle cop helped her. It took some time, but Giovanna eventually found her way back to Britain and the Ministry of Magic. She played the victim and she played it very well. The public had sympathy for her as the Ministry declared she was innocent of all charges. She walked free and later that month, Potter was imprisoned.
It was a beautiful sight. She even went to visit him, being the old school chum that she was. And she laughed and took great pleasure in his misfortunes. He had certainly lost his marbles and she knew that even if he escaped, he would never get them back. He was talking about growing daisies and then he even pulled out some of his hair. Giovanna even almost felt sorry for him, but not quite. She still revelled in it.
Shortly after becoming free and completely innocent, Giovanna paid a visit to Draco. Of course, she had to act like that encounter in Sweden had never happened. After all, that was during the time that someone else had been impersonating her. She wanted to tell Draco the truth, but she wasn't sure she could trust him. Besides, he had a wife he was probably more loyal to now. Whatever was between them would always be sparks, but never more than that. He actually was innocent, unlike Giovanna. She had killed so many people and Draco was leading a normal family life. Their visit had been short and sweet and even if it had been a little weird, it was nice to see him again. She liked it when he was in her life.
Giovanna hosted parties, as any respectable Nero woman would. There was once a time, when she was a child, when she hated all of those things. Her mother always wanted to train her to being the perfect socialite like she was and all Giovanna wanted to do was learn from her father and do what he did. But she supposed that her mother's skills had their use too, especially when she was pretending to be a normal woman who was born into a wealthy family. They hosted parties and invited dinner guests over and had a grand old time. Even if their money was corrupt from their wizarding mafia family, that was normal. Killing, torturing and assassinating Minister for Magics was not what was expected.
She played the part well, even getting engaged to Iago for a short time before she broke it off. It had really been all for show, but she somehow realized that she really didn't want to get married, especially to him. It only made sense as they had been dating for a long time and he did seem hurt when she told him she didn't want to do it, but he stayed an ally. They stopped their physical relationship as well, though she was confident that if she called, he would come.
Giovanna had to find a job and she found the perfect one: a Curse Breaker. It was a job by job basis, which gave her a lot of room and an excuse if she was nowhere to be found for a couple of weeks. She could say she was on a job curse breaking, even when in reality she was just in disguise doing business for Mortenero in Britain.
She worked at her ties within the Ministry - the new Minister for Magic was elected and he was one of her allies. He wasn't in the inner circle, but he still was a strong believer of the cause. This proved to be quite useful to Giovanna and they started creating and issuing new laws slowly, all to strengthen the purebloods in the country. That was the end goal. Giovanna realized Voldemort's fault (well, one of them at least) was wanting to wipe out the scum from the earth. Even if all the muggles and Mudbloods were gone, there were still many half bloods all procreating and making the blood of each witch and wizard muddy all the same. No, what they had to do was strength the blood purity, not just end the opposition. They needed more of them and for that to happen, that meant a lot of work and a lot of time as well.
Giovanna started socializing more. She went out for drinks with Goyle, who was always an ally and a childhood friend but who she never got to know all that well. Considering how long they had been friends, one would think that he would be in the inner circle, but his knack for being a lackie and only that left him a bit out in the cold. Giovanna also went out other places and met other people she wouldn't normally meet. It was all to show that she was a good witch and really was the victim. She absolutely could not be the person who had orchestrated all of those attacks and deaths and run the extremist group, Mortenero. It absolutely had been the imposter.

Sweden wasn't the typical place for Giovanna Nero. But there was a distributer there who Giovanna quite favoured. After she graduated Hogwarts, Giovanna travelled the world, learning all about different dark curses and magics. Sweden had been one of those stops and there had been a particular acquaintence she had made who she went back to quite a few times since.
He was a strange fellow with a curly beard and wild blue eyes. His paranoia made Giovanna look trusting. But somehow they had built up a trust between them, even though it was just business. But at least it was enough for her to be able to come knocking without him trying to curse her to oblivion. As powerful as she was, he too was quite powerful, and his erratic mental state only made his magic more volatile and dangerous.
Giovanna had finished her business with him and then drank some Polyjuice Potion to go out into the streets. She couldn't be wearing a different face when she met her paranoid acquaintance, but she had to if she was to go out in public among the masses. It was still rather cold, being winter, and she wore the face of a blonde woman she had met in Italy once. She wasn't anything special - just an acquiantance of Mario's. She wasn't an international type of person either, so the odds of crossing paths with her in Sweden were quite slim.
Giovanna walked down the street in her muggle clothes, which she had to wear out in public, of course. She wore a light jacket, a little lighter than she should have in such a temperature, with her hands in the deep pockets. She strolled down the street, passively looking at the shops she walked by. When she passed by a cafe, Giovanna decided to go inside.
Upon entering the cafe, Giovanna could smell a strong scent of coffee - no, a mix of them all fused into one strong smell that no single coffee could ever smell like. There were also baked goods on the front counter, all looking quite delicious. But they were not the most delicious thing Giovanna spotted in the cafe. Upon one glance to the patrons in the room, Giovanna's eyes landed on a familiar blonde. Her eyes widened in shock, giving away a reaction that she normally would have worked hard to hide. She wasn't wearing her own face or body, for that matter, but that didn't give her the excuse to be caught off guard so easily.
Giovanna briskly walked towards the washrooms without a single delay. The man behind the counter yelled something in Swedish at her, probably that only paying customers could use the washroom and she hadn't paid anything yet. "Small espresso. Black," she said right before swinging the door open and walking inside.
She leaned on the sink as she looked into the mirror, blonde hair and green eyes looking back at her. Her complexion was pale and smooth, very different than Giovanna's own darker and rougher looking exterior. At least, she felt rough. The years had not been kind to Giovanna. While she was still beautiful, the mess of her hair, paranoia from being on the run and experience of all the kills she had made in the past eight years caused her to look beyond her years. She was only twenty-five, but she felt closer to thirty-five. Somewhere inside was that seventeen year old girl, unseasoned in battle, yet still thirsty for it, arrogant about her lineage and prejudiced against all without their blood being pure. She hadn't exactly been nice in her youth, but she hadn't been a killer either.
Giovanna punched the mirror.
She couldn't think about such nostalgia. Why was she thinking about her younger and more innocent self?
Her eyes narrowed at her broken up reflection in the mirror.
Draco. Yes, this was all Draco's fault. Why did he have to be here? Why did he have to ruin everything? She didn't need him in her life. He was a part of her old life, her old self, her old world of the Slytherin common room, sneaking out to have a drink and bonding over their hatred for everyone else who wasn't as worthy as they were.
He couldn't be here, not here of all places - not in Sweden. Sweden was so far away from Italy and Britain - how could Draco actually be there at that moment? A deep and very quiet voice in the back of Giovanna's mind said, Fate. Giovanna smashed her fist into the side of the sink painfully. No, she argued back. This is not fate. This is not anything. "This is nothing," she murmured to herself defiantly before she started to see her reflection change in the mirror.
From the roots, her hair began to change back to her natural dark colour. Her eyes changed and the rest of her face too. Her full lips came back and she was glad to be rid of the blonde's tiny lips. The rest of Giovanna's body changed too. It always felt uncomfortable, but Giovanna was more used to it now. She used Polyjuice Potion very often as it the safest way to get around in public places without being noticed. Though Giovanna usually picked less attractive people so the liklihood of being noticed was even less, but she had been in Sweden, so it didn't matter quite as much.
Once she was completely changed back to her normal self, Giovanna let out a low breath. She wanted to curse the whole cafe. She could have very well blown it up with him inside and then she would have never had to think about him again or what of his youth he represented to her. Maybe if her feelings had been requited, maybe if they had--
No! Giovanna punched the mirror again one last time before turning swiftly towards the door. She pulled it open with force and briskly walked out into the cafe. Giovanna stopped dead in her tracks when her eyes met his once more. She was wearing the same thing she had been wearing when she came into the cafe, even though she had looked like a slender blonde woman then. Surely Draco could put two and two together. Giovanna stood there, staring back at him, her breath also hitched, unable to move or say anything. She always knew what to do and she always did it quickly and without hesitation. But there in that moment, she didn't know if she wanted to kill him or embrace him.
