moving up a year (due: sept 16th)
In order to move up a year, you must complete the exam. It's short so it won't take you very long to complete.
GENERAL NOTES:
-- Canon characters automatically move up a year, but you must complete the exam in order to get the House Points.
-- Your final grade is determined by exam grade and class participation. But it's very possible to pass with doing only the exam.
-- Non-Hogwarts students will automatically go up a year.
-- Exam exceptions can no longer be bought at Gringotts if you missed it. But if you were active in at least 3 classes this term (got 3 O's), you can automatically move up a year.
MOVING UP A YEAR:
-- To move up a year (or graduate), you will need at least 50% in your final grade. This is comprised of:
Exam result (75%)
Class participation (25%)
Therefore, if you get at least 67% on the exam, you will pass (even if you didn't participate in classes at all). If for some reason you fail or get a lower grade than this, PM me to be able to do a roleplaying task to boost your grade.
Please note that new class entry posts at this point will not be counted towards your grade.
ABOUT EXAMS:
-- All the questions are either multiple choice or true or false. The answers are in the class threads or in the Extra Info board.
-- It will probably take you ~15 minutes.
-- If you're new and don't want to go up a year just yet, just don't do the exam. It's that simple. (:
-- When you put your name, you must put your character's name (first and last).
-- If you have more than one character doing the same exam, you must put them together as the name [ex. 'Eliza Cunningham/Giovanna Nero']. Only your first attempt at each exam will be counted, so don't do the same exam multiple times. Make sure to put the whole character's name, not just their first name.
-- If you want a character to do worse on the exam, do the exam to the best of your ability and then PM me requesting a lower grade. You may not request a higher grade.
-- All of the questions in the exam will count towards your exam grade (even electives your character didn't sign up for).
-- You will get House Points for completing the exam.
-- Passcode: term54
If you have any questions about it, PM me.
ABOUT CLASS PARTICIPATION:
-- You must roleplay in classes 5 times to get the full 25%. It's 5% per post so if you only do 3 class posts, then you get 15/25 in this section.
-- Up to 3 posts can count for the same class.
-- Spamming entrance posts at the end of the term to get the grade isn't fun for you, nor the people in the thread, and doesn't add anything to your character. So all class posts will be counted for grades from September - May IC time. After that, they will only be counted if you're posting in the same subject 2+ times.
-- You don't have to link anything for this. Class participation will be counted up by the staff already for giving out the grade buttons.
ABOUT EXAM EXCEPTIONS:
If you do not have time to do the exam (though it will take about 10-15 minutes), you can get an exception from the exam if you posted 3x in 3 classes (posting 3x in a class gets you an Outstanding grade). Those who received 3 Os are the following:
Aiden Pine, Cressida Villen, Domhnall McEvoy, Euphemia Weatherwax, Harrison Poole, Jae Wang, Lia Fletcher, Maeve Thorne, Silvia Stirling, Ysolt Butterworth
Please note that by using the exception, you do not get House Points for completing the exam and you still must do the 5 extra class posts to get full marks (so that means at least 14 class posts to get 100% - otherwise it would be 75%).
If you wish to use the exception, please PM me.
