Muggle Scotland is holding a referendum for Scottish Independence and so is the wizarding population. Only characters who live in Scotland may vote. All votes must be 17+ but if you have a student who's under that age and lives in Scotland, you can still vote. Technically it would be from one of their parents so don't include in your roleplaying posts that they voted themselves.

If your character moved to Scotland and aren't listed in the correct location in our Residence List, please reply there to let us know.

Staff and students (17+) will go to Hogsmeade to vote on May 1st (it's a Sunday) all together in a group and will be allowed to stay for a couple of hours. There will be a Hogsmeade trip on May 14th anyway. If you guys do want to roleplay this out in a mass thread, though, let me know. Looks like it would be about 8 professors + 2 students.

Liberamach will not be arrested if they vote. However, the Ministry has allowed them to set up their own voting booth in Edinburgh and then someone will come and collect the ballots. Also, someone from Scotland and someone from Britain will reside over all ballot counting to make sure it's fair.

Main voting booths will be in Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, Edinburgh. We won't have in character threads for them, but if you want to mention it in your posts that they went to one of them, you definitely can.

The muggle results will be announced later. If our results are yes for independence and the muggles are also yes, then Scotland will be independent. If our results are yes for independence and the muggles are no, then Scotland will not be independent and there will likely be discussions to make Edinburgh into a city state. If our results are no and the muggles are no, then no independence and the war will likely rage on. If our results are no and the muggles are yes, then there will be Scottish independence but likely with a Ministry-appointed and created government.

Also either way, if there is a transition to something else, that will take some time and effort from many members to make that really happen. There will be a lot of job opportunities opening up and some who might not have had opportunities for leadership or promotions will find that they can get them. (: I do have some potential plans, but it'll all depend on the results from the referendum. <3
