In the spirit of Halloween, we're going to solve a murder mystery! We did this a few years ago on here and now is the third version of Hogwarts Clue!

How it works is first you sign up in this thread. Then you will be assigned into a team of other members and a thread will be set up for you where you guys journey between rooms. When you're in a certain room, you can make a Suspicion and guess a room, weapon and suspect. Just like in Clue, you need to guess the room you're currently in. And then once you have figured out all 3, you can submit an Accusation.


You may only sign up with three (3) of your characters at the most.
There is an unlimited amount who can sign up in total, though.

Sign-ups will last one (1) week.

TEAMS
You will be placed in a random team and will have to journey with them. You can split off away from your team or switch teams if you're in the same room as another team, keeping in mind:

-- You can't ever be alone [teams must have at least 2 people]
-- You can't be in the same team as another one of your characters.

TRAVELING
There will be a map of the rooms. You can only travel to a room that is beside your room. There is some overlap.

How you travel is any of your members can post saying that they're travelling to a certain other room. That will bring all of your team with them automatically. If you want to splinter off, then you will need to say so before I post saying that you arrived to the next room. Keeping in mind that you can only do so with someone else.

Once you move from a room, you can't suspect from that room anymore, so also keep in mind to give a bit of buffer room to your teammates. You don't have to wait forever, but at least a few hours should be good to give them some time to guess.

This is all roleplayed. You can OOCly message each other and see if at least 2 of you have finished your guess early and want to splinter off. Or you could just talk IC in the posts being like, "I think I got everything from this room" and then say someone else says the same, meaning they can move off on their own if they want. While your whole team automatically moves together, you can specify that you want certain people to splinter off and move. However, you cannot leave anyone alone. So a team of 4 could have 2 people move on early, leaving 2 behind. But a team of 3 must all travel together.

POSTING
Everything is roleplayed. The staff set this up for the students. However, please do put major things in OOC notes at the bottom of your post.

SUSPECTING
Any time you submit a Suspect, it must be via PM to me.

When you're in a certain room, you can submit it. Just like in Clue, you must be guessing the room you're currently in. Then you have to figure out what is the weapon in the room [it's in the description] and guess any Suspect. Every participant is a Suspect. So look at this thread to see everyone who signed up!

You will be informed what guesses were incorrect. So if I don't comment on one of the guesses, that means it was correct.

I also will reply to your thread [or try to] saying how many clues you found. Ex. "Arielle found 2 Clues!"

SHARING INFO
As you are in a team, you may share your answers with your teammates, but not with anyone else [not even your own other characters]. However, the whole goal is to win, so you might not want to give away all your answers.

Sharing must be kept to PM/Discord. You may not post your clues/answers for everyone to see. Anyone doing this - accidentally or intentionally - will be disqualified. Just keep in private to your team members. Don't ruin it for everyone else.

WINNING
If you think you know all of the answers - who, what & where - you can submit an Accusation via PM to me. You can only submit an Accusation if you know who they all are. No random guesses. This is also to deter people from sharing between their characters and cheating that way. I will be keeping track of what everyone knows and potentially knows [aka someone else on their team made that guess]. So if you guess something there's no way your character would know - whether it's cheating or just a random guess - you're disqualified.

If you're ever not sure what clues you have, you can just check your PMs. But if you're confused about anything, just PM me.

The top five will all receive awards. The first place is whoever submits the answer first. Next places are who was closest [ex. found 2/3]. First place will also receive 50 House Points and 500 Sickles. Second-fifth place will receive 20 House Points and 200 Sickles each.
