Interested in becoming a student at Xanadu? Here's all you need to know:
Xanadu is one of several wizarding schools in China. It has been around since the 1200s; and ever since the 18th Century, it has included students from all parts of the world, since it discovered many talented new learners when sea-trading at that time. Today, it still accepts students from outside it’s region, as long as they keep what they learned secret. Since the trading period, English has been used a lot to teach.
Xanadu is a collection of tall, narrow, structures over water, with torches to light it at night. Students travel to it in canoes. Some parts of the castle lurks under the water, or even under the ground under water. All the time, new professors, headmasters, and others create new rooms, secrets, and enchantments to Xanadu. In just about any place, even dorms, one may find a door they hadn't noticed before, leading somewhere they haven’t been before.
Students learn a lot of wandless magic here, blending it with martial arts. And having a staff composed of wandwood is not uncommon to have, instead of a wand, even if they aren't as remote as a wand. Xanadu also accepts Vampires and Werewolves, and allows them to mingle with other students. They also spread their learning over eight years, instead of seven.
Xanadu has three houses, that are not easily compared to houses of other schools, even if they have aspects:
Elixir: For those who seek greater truths, higher evolution, and what the world needs. They focus on philosophy, reason, ethics, morals. They dispute how wizards should use their powers, where, and if muggles should be kept ignorant or not. They do not argue much, though, respecting all ideas as a road to higher thinking. This house only came when they began accepting foreign students, as it was much disputed. They tend to embrace all forms of magic, including the dark arts. Their common room is located in the center balconies, overlooking everything, with a glorious view from large windows. When trying to enter, they will be asked why, and will have to give a reason, and will sometimes be questioned further. If one isn't in the mood for it, though, one can simply say they have their own reasoning for it. In which, they will be let in, with the understanding that one should respect different ideas.
Khan: The oldest and original house. It is for those who wish to learn their potential. They look for jobs, and places in the world as it is for themselves, and less about how to change it (unlike the other two houses). They are elitist, in a way. They are all about learning subjects they excel at completely. Being absolutely the best at whatever that is. This is also the house where students who don't fit into any specific house normally go. The common room is right over the water, near the entrance of the main structure.
Wvern: Probably the most dangerous of the houses. Students vary in exactly what they believe. Many believe in taking things make to days when wizards didn't have their own civilization, but knew how to survive on their own. Many believe fear can be used to create the strongest magic, as wizards have been known to perform such things when in a dangerous situation. They focus on magic that doesn't involve spells of thinking, but merely acting naturally, more than other houses. Their common room is underwater.
