AROUND THE WORLD

We will not be accepting any more schools for the time being. Every continent has a school now and 10 schools is definitely quite enough right now. <3

We have listed the countries that take up the largest population of each school, but if you're from another country that doesn't have a school, just go to the closest one. The countries listed aren't exclusive.

AUGUSTINE SCHOOL

YEARS: 6
HOUSES: None
LOCATION: On an island, off the coast of Australia
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: Australia, New Zealand

Augustine teaches students aged 14-19. They do not have a Quidditch program, but do have many student clubs and organizations. The school year starts in late January and ends early December.

BEAUXBATONS ACADEMY

YEARS: 7
HOUSES: None
LOCATION: France
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: France, Germany, Netherlands

Beauxbatons does not sort their students into houses, only gender and year, though they do maintain an open Quidditch program with three teams. Students at Beauxbatons take their OWLs in their sixth year, not their fifth, and are educated in etiquette and manners alongside magic.

DAHSHUR WIZARDING SCHOOL

YEARS: 5
HOUSES: 3
LOCATION: South of Cairo, Egypt
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Turkey, Greece

Dahshur is located just off the Nile, south of Cairo. The school is inside a pyramid, located below where muggles journey to investigate. The traps are there to protect the late Pharoah, but also the school of Dahshur as well. Below the pyramid is a bio-dome of sorts, with a vivacious ecosystem of trees, grass, a magicked sky and more. There is no Quidditch at Dahshur. Dahshur accepts students aged 13-17.

DURMSTRANG INSTITUTE

YEARS: 8
HOUSES: None
LOCATION: Scandinavia
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Bulgaria

Durmstrang does not sort the students into houses, only separates them by year and gender. In an eight year program that has been known for a focus on the dark arts, they educate students from Eastern and Northern Europe. They maintain a school Quidditch program with three teams, and are known for producing international Quidditch star Viktor Krum.

FIRENZE ACADEMY OF MAGIC

YEARS: 7
HOUSES: 4
LOCATION: Florence, Italy
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: Italy, Spain, Austria, Portugal

Firenze students are sorted into Houses, but their dormitories are based on gender and year. There is a Quidditch program for the students, based on the House they are in and a Flying class that extends past first year.

HOGWARTS SCHOOL

YEARS: 7
HOUSES: 4
LOCATION: Scotland
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales

Hogwarts sorts students into four Houses: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, based on their personality. They have a Quidditch program - one for each house - and regular trips to the Hogsmeade Village for third years and older.

RUTHERFORD SCHOOL

YEARS: N/A
HOUSES: None
LOCATION: Hosgmeade (Scotland)

Founded in 2001, Rutherford was build to be a school for young adults to take classes in order to prepare to take their NEWTs again or for any adults to take or host workshops, master classes or book readings. The school itself is in an old house with six available rooms for classes.

In 2015, Rutherford expanded to being a full 'community college' with a few diploma programs connected to internships with the government and various institutions. They still hold upgrade classes for NEWTs as well as book signings, workshops, master classes, etc.

SALEM ACADEMY

YEARS: 7
HOUSES: None
LOCATION: USA
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: South-East Canada, Eastern USA, South-West USA

Salem Academy of Magic, on the east coast of North America, does not have houses to sort students into. Their dormitories are separated by years and gender, and the school does not have a Quidditch program, though they do have American intramural sports for students.

SECWEPEMC WIZARDING ACADEMY

YEARS: 7
HOUSES: 3
LOCATION: British Columbia, Canada (The Rocky Mountains)
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: Western Canada, Northern Canada, North-West USA

Secwepemc (sh-whep-m) was built into the Rocky Mountains by natives in the area centuries ago. Originally built as a stronghold against the colonist invaders by the Secwepemc people, it later evolved into a wizarding school. Only a century ago in 1915 did they make it public and allow any non-natives to join the school. For this reason, they've been rather disconnected from the international scene, which is why they have never participated in a Dodecawizard Tournament.

They have a dragon sanctuary and Dragonology is a NEWT class, which is a reason for many Americans to want to attend. However, most Americans like to talk it down who are extra patriotic and don't want to go to Canada for their education. The try to bribe Salem and the Ministry to go to Salem if they are in the Secwepemc district.

SELVEIRA INSTITUTE

YEARS: 8
HOUSES: 3
LOCATION: Heart of the Amazon Rainforest, Brazil
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela

Selveira students are sorted into one of three Houses: Ariraí, Negarto, or Gacora. Students receive their letters of acceptance by Macaw delivery at the age of 10 and stay in school for 8 years. There is a Quidditch program for the students, based on the House they are in and an Advanced flying class for higher years.

XANADU SCHOOL

YEARS: 8
HOUSES: 3
LOCATION: China
COUNTRIES ATTENDING: China, Korea, Japan, Philippines

FIRENZE ACADEMY HOUSES

KNEAZLE

Those Kneazles really know what's right and they're not afraid to tell everyone else either. Most of the time, at least, they do the right thing. This includes standing up for their friends and most Kneazles would make a great Prefect. Of course, this doesn't mean that there aren't some bad eggs. Some Kneazles just need some time to develop into their true selves and realize what is right and what is wrong. They're also very strong willed and quite opinionated about nearly everything.

{Mainly Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.}

OCCAMY

Those sorted into Occamy are very easy-going and hope to get along with everyone. They go with the flow, sometimes a little too much, and can actually be pushed around a little by those more inclined to push. They are often seen as day dreamers and quite a few of them love music, nature and their creative side really shines through. While there are academic stars in this group, they are more known for talent and dedication outside the classroom.

{Mainly Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.}

LETHIFOLD

Lethifolds are a tricky group. They are usually the top of their class in school, though if they're not, it's often because they're not applying themselves. It's the house for those that like to learn. But on top of that, they are very cunning and manipulative. What sets them apart from Ashwinders is that they're planners and schemers. In the moment anger isn't their style. No, they think out every twisted plan before acting, which is something Ashwinders will never learn to do.

{Mainly Ravenclaw and Slytherin.}

ASHWINDER

Most Ashwinders are purebloods or at least believe that purebloods are better than everyone else. It's that old Italian way, really. Most of them can't help it. Not all Ashwinders are pureblooded, though. But all of them are as slippery as an Ashwinder [which is a snake]. They are very emotional and tend to do quite a few things spontaneously. Their main issue is that they are also irrational, which leads to badly [or not at all] thought out plans. Backfiring plans are almost their house hobby. But being Ashwinders, they always manage to do some collateral damage.

XANADU SCHOOL HOUSES

ELIXIR

For those who seek greater truths, higher evolution, and what the world needs. They focus on philosophy, reason, ethics, morals. They dispute how wizards should use their powers, where, and if muggles should be kept ignorant or not. They do not argue much, though, respecting all ideas as a road to higher thinking. This house only came when they began accepting foreign students, as it was much disputed. They tend to embrace all forms of magic, including the dark arts. Their common room is located in the center balconies, overlooking everything, with a glorious view from large windows. When trying to enter, they will be asked why, and will have to give a reason, and will sometimes be questioned further. If one isn’t in the mood for it, though, one can simply say they have their own reasoning for it. In which, they will be let in, with the understanding that one should respect different ideas.

KHAN

The oldest and original house. It is for those who wish to learn their potential. They look for jobs, and places in the world as it is for themselves, and less about how to change it (unlike the other two houses). They are elitist, in a way. They are all about learning subjects they excel at completely. Being absolutely the best at whatever that is. This is also the house where students who don’t fit into any specific house normally go. The common room is right over the water, near the entrance of the main structure.

WVERN

Probably the most dangerous of the houses. Students vary in exactly what they believe. Many believe in taking things make to days when wizards didn’t have their own civilization, but knew how to survive on their own. Many believe fear can be used to create the strongest magic, as wizards have been known to perform such things when in a dangerous situation. They focus on magic that doesn’t involve spells of thinking, but merely acting naturally, more than other houses. Their common room is underwater.

DAHSHUR SCHOOL HOUSES

RA

The students in Ra have the potential to be very powerful. They also tend to be very secretive, either keeping secrets from different people they know or keeping to themselves. However, they are also quite loyal - a great friend or follower.

SEKHMET

Those in Sekhmet can be very vengeful. It's not a good idea to get on their bad side. There would be repercussions. This is made worse by them being tempermental. Unlike Ra students, Sekhmets are disloyal. They wouldn't be a good friend and tend to be loyal for a time to those who benefit them the most. They are also easily persuaded. From not feeling any real loyalty to anyone but themselves, they can easily be convinced to join the other side.

HORUS

While Ra and Sekhmet students seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, Horus students are the peacekeepers. They try to make sure that everything is okay. They are also very wise, knowing what is right and wrong and not being manipulated so easily as Sekhmet. They are also brave - in keeping to their own beliefs and also trying to help others.
