Alys was making her way through the bustling courtyard of Hogwarts, enjoying the crisp winter air and the snow covered leaves that crunched under her feet. It was between classes, and students were scattered around, some chatting animatedly, others hurrying to their next lesson. She was heading toward the library to study for an upcoming project for Transfiguration.
"Oh shoot." She muttered out loud, seemingly to nobody. Alys started to rummage through her school bag, dropping bits of parchment onto the lightly brushed snowy ground. "Oh no." Panic struck her face. Although the problem she was facing wasn't exactly a huge one, but in a situation like hers where she needs to do well in school, make an impression, it felt like the entire world was crashing down on her. She looked around for a classmate, perhaps someone she recognized from one of her first year classes.
And then there she was, Twinkle Doe, sat behind her in class. Although she didn't know much about her, Alys was actively social and did her best to be a warm, friendly face to everybody. That prompted her to feel confidence enough to ask her for help. Relief washed over her. "Hi!" Alys tried to settle the panic in her voice. "Do you by chance have the notes from Professor Laurents' Duro class?"
Twinkle's big eyes stare right at Alys. She takes more than a few seconds to reply. Instead, it feels like a century. Without another thought, Twinkle drops her messenger bag on the floor and immediately starts rummaging through every compartment. Her beautiful organization is dismantled by the wave of urgency she feels to find these notes. If Twinkle would have just checked the front pocket, it would've been easier. In fact, it was right under her nose!
Twinkle presents a glittery folder that has a multitude of Demiguise stickers on them. There's probably a reason why she has an infatuation with the creature. They match eyes. She offers the scroll of notes. Some of Twinkle's writing on the scroll seems like nonsense with arrows and underlines on each line. Slowly, a smile appears on Twinkle's face before she hands the scroll over.
An airy voice escapes. "Here. I found it. I found it. You can have it now." ALYS FLAMEL

“Here. I found it. I found it. You can have it now,” Twinkle said, her voice airy and relieved. She pulled out a glittery folder adorned with an assortment of Demiguise stickers, each one sparkling in the sunlight. Alys’s curiosity piqued as she wondered why Twinkle had such an affection for the creatures. Their eyes met, and Twinkle’s face slowly broke into a smile, a mixture of triumph and relief.
Alys accepted the scroll of notes, her fingers brushing against the glittery surface of the folder. She unrolled the parchment, eyes scanning the intricate writing. Some of it seemed like nonsense, arrows and underlines crisscrossing the page in a dizzying pattern. But Alys knew better than to dismiss it outright; she was only grateful to have them.
“Thank you so much. Twinkle, right?” Her name was difficult to forget. But still, Alys always saw the beauty in uniqueness. And now gratitude for her classmate was growing, and she expressed such relief in the tone of her voice as she continued to speak. “Do you mind if I sit here and copy them? I swear on Merlin I got them in the lesson. Maybe Steve thought it was food or something, dunno!”

Twinkle stares at the scroll in Alys’ hand. Twinkle decides, well, she will sit and wait for these notes to be copied. She takes a seat and looks longingly at what Alys is about to right. It’s not to say Twinkle isn’t aware that some of the notes may reflect her irregular thought process, but in between the lines there is in fact some sense. Little sense, but it exists.
Twinkle does not respond right away. Instead she decides to rummage through her bag to see if she has other notes that are more concise. She finds nothing. Eventually, Twinkle says, "I don’t remember Professor Laurents’ class too well. In fact, take the scroll. It’s too much there."
Twinkle abruptly closes her bag but still does not move from her post. She awaits for Alys to lead. ALYS FLAMEL
Alys glanced up from the scroll, sensing Twinkle’s eyes on her. She could see the mixture of hope and hesitation in Twinkle's expression. Alys smiled reassuringly, knowing that buried in the chaotic scribbles was the information she needed. As she traced a finger along the haphazard lines and arrows, she continued to make notes of her own - attempting to connect the dots.
"I don’t remember Professor Laurents’ class too well. In fact, take the scroll. It’s too much there." After a while, Alys looked up and caught Twinkle’s eye. “Do you want to see my version of the notes? Would that help you?” Alys' commitment to learning does after all, allow her to remember perhaps a little bit more than Twinkle could, giving more detail to her notes.
