It was the day everyone went to Hogsmeade in November. The date got moved. Dorian noticed something posted in the Entrance Hall about it. But it dind't really matter to him. It wouldn't affect him at all. He wasn't old enough to go. He thought it sounded like fun, though. A whole village of just magic? He imagined there was probably magic happening all over the place, just like at Hogwarts!
Dorian went down to the Great Hall for a snack. It mostly was just first and second years there, as well as a few older students who were too busy to go and had gone enough to not be very excited by it anymore.
He noticed Lia at the table and took a seat beside her. "Hey, how's it going?" he said. He grabbed an apple from the table and took a bite. "so what do you think they're doing over there anyway? Any idea what it's like?" It was probably all just rumours, but they could have some fun imagining!

Lia had spent the first part of her Saturday on the Quidditch pitch, taking advantage of one of the few days it was empty since most of the student body was at Hogsmeade. After a few hours of flying, she felt quite peckish, and so decided to stop by the Great Hall for a snack. She didn’t even bother going back to the dorm to change. Sitting at the Hufflepuff table in her, now sweaty, Quidditch gear, hair pulled up in a ponytail, cheeks still flushed, she grabbed herself a blueberry muffin and a large glass of pumpkin juice, gulping down most of it in one go.
She’d barely been there a few minutes when a familiar face joined her. She smiled in greeting, swallowing the bite of her muffin still in her mouth before speaking. “Hi Dorian. Was just getting in some Quidditch practice. You alright?” Lia shrugged in response to Dorian’s questions about Hogsmeade, having never actually been to the magical village. Of course she had heard a bit from other students, but wasn’t sure how much was true and how much was overhyped rumours.
“I’ve never actually been, all my family are muggles.” At least all the family she knew, not that she would mention that at that moment. “I’ve heard there’s a candy shop with similar stock to the train. And Butterbeer?” She said the last word slowly, hoping she was saying that correctly. “Everyone seems to rave about the butterbeer. Have you ever had any? Do you think it’s actual alcoholic beer? It seems odd that they would allow students to drink that.”

"Oh, same," Dorian said casually as he took another bite. So maybe Lia wouldn't be the best source for information on Hogsmeade.
"A candy shop? Looking forward to that." He grinned. He thought if all the magical sweets. He loved the ones on the train, they were so different than muggle ones. The beans were a bit of a gamble, though, which made them a bit more like a game than a candy. It was fun.
"Hmm... Do you think it's beer but made out of butter? Maybe it's milky." Dorian had to admit that he didn't know what beer was actually made out of though. "I don't think it woukd be real beer... that wouldn't be allowed, would it? But then again, this is the wizarding world." So many things that would never be allowed in a million years in the muggle world were at Hogwarts.
"Did you hear anything else? Someone told me that its haunted but... Hogwarts is haunted too so I dont know why that's a big deal." They had so many ghosts there and even a poltergeist. Could Hogsmeade really be worse? Dorian finished his apple now so he took a few grapes from a bowl to his left. He had to reach a bit and took a more casual position as he faced Lia again.

“You’re a muggleborn too?” Lia asked, not wanting to make any assumptions in case there was another reason why he had also grown up around muggles. The wizarding world seemed particularly preoccupied with magical lineage, not that Lia really understood why or all of its implications.
Lia scrunched her face at the idea of butter in beer. “Ugh I hope not, that sounds disgusting.” All she could picture was a stick of butter in a pint of beer. It definitely did not look like an appetizing drink in her imagination. “Yeah, you’re probably right. Thirteen is probably a little young to be drinking beer. Even for wizards.” Dorian was right, she had to admit. The wizarding world was definitely different from the muggle world, but alcohol was probably still an adult thing.
Finishing off the last of her pumpkin juice, Lia grabbed the pitcher and was about to pour more in her glass when Dorian asked her about the neighboring village being haunted. “What?!” In her surprise, she knocked over her glass, causing the juice from the pitcher to fall onto the table instead. “Oh no!” She quickly put down the pitcher and righted her glass, but the damage was done. “I’m so sorry!” She squealed, cheeks turning bright pink in embarrassment. She quickly grabbed some nearby napkins and began drying off the table next to him. “I’m such a klutz, sorry, I’ll get it,” she mumbled as she tried to clean up the mess.
“Um, you mentioned Hogsmeade being haunted? Where did you hear that?” She asked, trying desperately to keep the conversation going as she mopped up the pumpkin juice with at least a dozen napkins. Anything to avoid talking about her major spaz moment.
