It was Blaise's 11th birthday and Eliza invited all of his friends and parents. She even invited some others who would be attending Hogwarts soon with Blaise, though not all of them RSVP'd. Especially not Pansy.
A lot of his friends were because of Eliza being friends with their parents, but that was often the way in the wizarding world unless they lived in a muggle neighbourhood. Unfortunately for Blaise, he grew up between Hogwarts and Hogsmeade and only ever saw muggles if he went to see his grandparents. He knew a bit about them, but not as much as Eliza would have liked. He really had a far more magical upbringing than most half-bloods, even ones that didn't have any close muggle relations.
Eliza decorated their apartment in all sorts of birthday festivities: balloons, streamers, and a banner saying 'Happy 11th Birthday, Blaise!' She was a little too busy to be cooking and preparing food for so many people, though, as she had a lot to do preparing Hogwarts for the next term and everything else for the party, as well as other life obligations. So she ordered some catering from the Three Broomsticks. She just had to go and pick it up with Ava's help.
Ava sometimes helped with babysitting Blaise in the last couple of years, which was nice for Blaise as Ava had a daughter only a couple of years older. At least, it was nice when she wasn't at Hogwarts. Otherwise it was just Ava.
When they got back with the various sandwich platters, a couple of jugs of pumpkin juice, and a bottle of Firewhiskey for the adults from the Three Broomsticks, and a box of assorted sweets from Honeydukes, things were a little chaotic. Blaise was chasing the bird around. Wait. They didn't have a bird.
"Blaise, how did that thing get in here?"
"Not now, mum. Trying to catch it!" Blaise yelled as he ran past with a net.
Eliza shook her head and went into the kitchen with all the food. She couldn't do anything until she put everything down anyway. She vaguely heart Lottie yelling for Blaise from the other end of the apartment. Then she heard them running out the front door. They must have gotten the bird out at least.
"And the guests haven't even arrived yet," Eliza said, a little exasperated already. Ava chuckled.
"It'll be fine. At least it won't just be you and a bunch of kids."
That was true. All of the parents were invited too. That was something that was more so done for toddlers but Eliza wanted a bit of a celebration with the parents too, as almost all their kids would be going to Hogwarts for the first time soon.
((There's food in the kitchen, a large living room, 3 bedrooms (well 2 + a study), bathroom of course. No backyard since it's an apartment, but people can chill outside too - they're in Hogsmeade so they might see passers by as well.
It's a kid's birthday so yes presents.))
FAMILIES INVITED (you can npc anyone unplayed in your family):

It was finally Blaise's birthday. He would be eleven! That meant that he could finally go to Hogwarts without just being a guest at a Quidditch game or something. He would get to learn magic for real! He probably could have learned things in advance if his mum wasn't headmistress, but she wasn't a fan of breaking the rules. It seemed like a silly rule, though. What harm would he do from learning how to float something or light up a wand in the middle of the night? Oh, well. The time would soon be here!
Of course his mum invited all her friends. Blaise knew a lot of their kids too and he would probably be going to school with a bunch of them soon. A lot of them were just acquaintances but he was excited to see Lottie, Ella, Jack, Ezra, Rose, and Dustin the most. But maybe he would get closer to the others when he saw them more. He just didn't really see the Finnigan guy that much and some of the other 'kids' were kind of old to be kids, like Andy and Dean. They were pretty much adults in Blaise's eyes.
First arrived Lottie because her mum was helping Blaise's mum with the party. They had to hang out a bunch because Ava was always over doing stuff for his mum or babysitting Blaise. He was glad that Lottie was still fun, though, even if she was two years older.
They were playing in his room when suddenly a bird flew in the window! Lottie and him started freaking out, jumping up and down, running around, and ended up opening the door to the rest of the apartment by accident. Now it was going to fly around and ruin everything!
"Use this!" Lottie said as she pulled out a net she found tucked beside his bed.
Blaise grabbed it and ran out of the room, holding it high above his head as he tried to jump and catch the bird so they could get it outside.
Then mum was home. Uh, oh!
"Trying to catch it!" he yelled back at her when she asked what happened.
The front door was still open from his mum and Ava and the bird got out that way and into the hallway. It probably flew out the building too.
Phew!
Lottie ran into the room.
"It flew out!" Blaise said as he collapsed into one of the sofas in the living room.
"Good," Lottie said, as she collapsed on an armchair near him.
He was a little out of breath so he decided to try and rest there for a bit until the guests arrived. Hopefully some more would arrive soon! He couldn't wait to see his friends and was so excited that he would get to see them every day starting in September!

It wasn't yet Harry's birthday thankfully. That would be in a couple of weeks. Right now was Eliza's son's birthday. Harry knew him since he was born and it was nice to watch him grow up alongside Lillian and Jack. Eliza sure helped out with Jack when he was little too, whenever Katie wasn't around. There was a time there where she had to travel a lot to work. Even though they had a bit of a falling out after the Battle of Hogsmeade and it took a year or two to get their friendship back on track, Eliza and Harry had relied on each other and helped each other out for years, ever since the Order (before Harry disappeared, of course).
Harry arrived with the entire family in tow. Jack wanted to carry the present, so he had the box with the bow in his hands. They knocked briefly and then entered, hearing voices inside already. "Happy birthday!" Harry said to Blaise.
The boy was laying on the couch, already looking tired. That was no good. But then Blaise jumped up excitedly. "Hi, uncle Harry! Thank you."
Harry wasn't his actual uncle, of course, but Blaise ended up calling him that because he was there so often. He didn't have any actual uncles anyway since Eliza was an only child and his dad's family... Well, they were completely out of the picture. A bunch of blood purists. Eliza didn't want to talk to Blaise about them and Harry agreed. It wasn't a good idea to let him know too young that half of his family hated his mere existence. Apparently his dad nearly got disowned from them as well, but ended up making distance at least. Harry wasn't sure what Oberyn had going on now but he didn't care too much. He kept his circle close and cared about them: his family, his close friends, his career. The lives of people outside of that didn't matter too much to Harry. He was too preoccupied to think about people distant and not related to his life in any way.
The kids ran off to talk to Blaise and Lottie and Harry and Katie walked back towards the kitchen where they thought that the adults would be.

Trent was excited about going to a birthday party. He didn't know Blaise that well but he wanted to be his friend. They would be going to Hogwarts together soon too. Nova was also going to be there so at least his close friend was going to be around too. Before having gone to work his mother had urged him not to break anything and Trent had promised. He didn't know if she meant, like, his bones or a vase but either one was a safe bet.
He took his present over to where the birthday boy was. "Happy birthday, Blaise! I hope you like what I got you." He then greeted everyone else that was gathered there as well. It looked like Nova wasn't there yet but there were plenty of other kids to play and talk with.

Between helping run a country and having children to look after (two under the age of six!), Hermione was often left feeling stretched too thin. Not day though. She was looking forward to seeing all her friends and getting her kids some socialization. Cole was in a pram but five year old Iris was happily greeting anyone who looked at her for too long. Ron followed after Iris and Hermione took Cole out of his pram and went into the kitchen with him to socialize with the other parents.
"It's so good to see you all, how have you all been?" She asked as she found herself a chair to sit in with her eight month old son on her lap.
Post by ROSE WEASLEY on Sept 16, 2023 18:46:15 GMT -5
Rose was excited when she’d heard her whole family was invited to Blaise’s eleventh birthday. As with Uncle Harry and his family, she considered Eliza and Blaise as extended family. It was a bit odd now that she was a Hogwarts student and Eliza was her headmistress. Rose was never sure how to address her, not that she saw the headmistress much around Hogwarts. Today, however, things would be normal. No school formalities or any of that. Just the normal gang all together to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
She bounded into the familiar apartment ahead of the rest of her family with her normal excitement, thrilled to see so many people already there. She quickly located the birthday boy in between a group of other kids, and made a beeline for him. “Happy Birthday Blaise!” She exclaimed and ruffled his hair playfully. “Hi Lottie, hi Trent,” she greeted shortly after, looking at each of them in turn. She recognized Lottie from class, and Trent from previous visits, since his dad and her step-dad were friends.
Rose wasted no time making herself comfortable, plopping down on the couch next to Blaise. “So you’re gonna be a Gryffindor come September, right?” She arched her eyebrows in an exaggerated fashion, stretching out the last word dramatically. In all honesty, she wouldn’t mind either way, although it would be nice for him to join her house. She did, however, enjoy teasing him.

A birthday party was a good way to be among his friends and family for stress free fun. Plus he could talk magic with everyone here as they were all either in Hogwarts or going this year. Dustin had insisted on carrying the present he had picked out for Blaise, hugging it to his chest as they arrived and came through the apartments front door. He hid a little behind his Mum when he realized there was a lot of people here already and he didn't recognize some of the adults.
When his mother went off to talk to another adult, though, he had to put a brave face on and maybe just go to the kids he knew. So he brought his wrapped gist to where the others were and put it carefully in a place it wouldn't fall. Spotting Blaise on the couch he smiled a little and waved. "Hey Blaise! Oh, and hi everyone." Hopefully his sister would come and save him from his awkwardness. Or maybe someone else would talk and he could find his way into the conversation in a less weird way.

Birthday parties were fun, Jack liked them a lot, he enjoyed the decorations and balloons. There was also the presents. In fact, Jack held the present intended for Blaise closely, wishing it had been for him instead; and on the walk to the apartment, Jack had picked at the corner of the present wrapping, to try and see what it was inside. But, before he could find out, they were there and it was time to hand the present over.
Reluctantly.
Jack stood near his dad for the hellos and stuff, as the boy offered a smile from beside the older wizard's leg. There seemed to be a lot of people and Jack wasn't too fond of big crowds... not unless it was in a Quidditch stadium, of course. At least he knew most of the other kids, so that helped. And when Blaise welcomed Jack's dad, the younger boy offered an awkward present-balancing-with-one-hand wave and said:
"Hi, happy birthday."
Another kid put a present with some other presents, so Jack walked over and reached the spot. He looked down at the present, wondering if anyone would notice one missing, but hunched his shoulders and put it with the others, as well. Maybe Blaise would let the others try out some of the cool things, when he opened them? That would be cool!
Jack turned and looked about. He saw some familiar faces, most of them were really, and decided the adults talking were boring. He wandered over to the other kids and stood near the couch, off to one side, as he listened and looked between the ones talking. They were bigger than Jack, and some were going to Hogwarts, which was super lucky for them - and made Jack wish he was going, too.
Rose was talking about Gryffindor.
"I like Gryffindor."
Jack perked up and listened, an awkward smile on his small face, as he tried to fit in with the older kids...

An eleven-year-old's birthday party might not be the most exciting place to be in for a teenager, but Dean felt obliged to give it a shot. The kid was the Headmistress' son, after all; at the very least, it would be interesting to see how this family lived.
The fact that he should get the kid a present crossed his mind a few times, but did not stick. He was empty-handed as he approached the birthday boy, not too far behind Trent. "I hope you like what we got you," Dean corrected his brother with a grin. "It's from both of us." That gift better be good - he honestly had no clue what it was. "You look like you just ran a marathon, did you exercise right before the party?" Perhaps Blaise was a sporty type, and would join the Quidditch team soon.
As a legal adult, he could have headed to the kitchen to chat with the parents. But it somehow seemed that whatever the kids got up to, it would be far more entertaining than watching a bunch of forty-somethings catch up.
"Gryffindor is the best house, no argument there." He ruffled the littlest kid's hair. "This is almost an all-Gryffindor party, you know. Future Gryffindors, current Gryffindors, former Gryffindors. Best possible company."

The sounds of talking from the apartment were heard, as Ezra followed his family inside, helping with whatever needed carrying. He talked quietly with Fred, as the two made some comments about unrelated things, both giving laughs. It was nice to have step-siblings, Ezra thought, especially since he got along well with them. And then there was the extended family, which was numerous and filled with good people, as well.
"Hey, Uncle Harry," Ezra called as he walked into the home, as he scanned for familiar faces, though noticed many. "Did you catch the Quidditch match just gone? It was pretty exciting."
Nearby, the birthday boy seemed busy with a small crowd of fellow kids. Ezra smiled to his favorite uncle, before he walked over to join the others at the couches, and waited for a break in conversation.
"Hey, Blaise," the redhead said with a chin raise and nod. "Happy birthday. What sort of presents are you hoping for?"
Maybe Blaise would get one from Ezra's family. Maybe it was joke stuff, from the shop. Hopefully not, though. Across the short distance, Ezra listened to Dean mention Gryffindors, as well as scruff up Jack's hair. The redhead smirked and looked to the younger boy. "Don't tussle Dean's hair," then glanced to Dean. "It'll take him the rest of the party to fix in the mirror."
With a sly grin, Ezra turned to the others.
"How's everyone going, getting ready for Hogwarts? You got everything, Dustin?"
Attendance of the magical school was rapidly approaching.

Blaise ran to the door when someone his age arrived. "Trent! Glad you made it!" he beamed. He took the present and put it in the pile with the others in the corner of the living room. He ran back over to Trent. "How's it going?"
Just then, aunt Hermione arrived and she walked through the apartment towards the other adults. Boring. But then there was Rose! Blaise ran over to her and hugged her, jumping up and down as he did. "Hey Rose!"
Then they let go and he sat down on the couch with her. There were a few armchairs too, so all the kids could settle down there for a bit before they decided what to play. "I don't know, but I hope so!"
There was someone else to greet so Blaise jumped up again. "Hey, Dustin. Welcome!" he said as he let him inside.
Now Jack was here, probably the person who Blaise had hung out the most, even though he was a few years younger. "Hey, Jack. Thank you!" Blaise took the present and put it in the pile with the others. There were quite a few presents and that was exciting but more exciting was seeing his friends.
"I'm sure we'll all be friends regardless of what House we get in, though. Right?" Blaise said as he joined the others again. He hoped so. He didn't want those stupid Hogwarts Houses to drive them apart! He knew from his mum, people from other Houses didn't usually get along. But he hoped that if they weren't all in the same House, that wouldn't happen to them.
Blaise got up to see Dean. He composed himself a little more for the old teenager because he wanted to seem cool in front of him. "Thanks! Umm... Yeah, kinda!" he said nervously. He didn't want to talk about the fact that a bird got inside and he was chasing it around. It probably seemed really silly to someone like Dean!
"Yes, I hope I get in Gryffindor too like my mum," Blaise said.
Blaise got up again when Ezra greeted him. "Hey, Ezra!" he was very excited to see his friend there too. But of course he was, since Blaise saw Hermione a bit earlier. It was getting a little crowded in this apartment! "Well what I really want is a broomstick! But I think I'd only get that from mum. Or maybe an owl. Or an toy or a game we could all play!" There were a lot of things he'd like to have, that was for sure! But he would be happy with whatever his friends brought him.

Ella was thrilled to be attending a birthday party with so many people her age, not to mention other future students of Hogwarts. She knew most of them well enough from get-togethers now and again through their parents, but she hadn’t quite made the same friendships as she had with her family members, notably her brother and her cousin. One day might not change that, but she hoped she’d get to know some of them a bit better, and maybe even meet some new people. It definitely would be nice to start Hogwarts with some friendly faces.
She arrived a bit later than her family members, having gotten distracted by a cat exploring outside of the building and stopping to give it some attention. It must have been someone’s familiar, as it quickly warmed up to her, bumping its head against her leg in anticipation of more pets. It was only a few minutes later when she looked up that she realized her family had already gone in, and she quickly stood up, ignoring the cat’s sad meow, and entered the apartment. She made a beeline for Dustin, who she could tell was feeling a bit uncomfortable. Maybe it was that twin connection thing, or maybe she just knew his body language, but she made sure to flash him a supportive smile before focusing on the gathered group.
“Hi Blaise, happy birthday!” She addressed him first, since he was the focus of the party and the reason for the gathering. She recognized a few other people, smiling kindly at those she knew in way of greeting, not wanting to interrupt the ongoing conversation. Conversation had turned to Hogwarts houses, most of them seeming to prefer Gryffindor. Ella didn’t really know what she preferred. Her mother had been a Ravenclaw and her father a Slytherin, so maybe one of those houses? Probably best to keep that opinion to herself, considering the current consensus among the rest of the group.
It was only when the conversation shifted that Ella felt confident contributing, as Blaise mentioned hoping to receive a new broom as a gift. “Does that mean you plan on joining your house Quidditch team?”

Before Harry got to the kitchen, Ron's son stopped him. "Yeah I was there. It was pretty exciting, wasn't it?" he said before continuing his path towards the kitchen with the adults.
Harry grabbed a Butterbeer. He was just opening it and taking his first sip when Hermione walked in. His first instinct was to hug her, but she was holding her new son so that would make it a little awkward. "Hey, Hermione," he said as he raised his Butterbeer to her.
"Good, good. Busy as always. But it's nice to be busy about normal things for a change." No more spying, no more war. And that's exactly how Harry liked it. "How are things going for you?" Hermione was busy too. Another young child and was the Prime Witch of all of Scotland. At least Scotland was smaller than Britain population wise, but the way they had the government set up, that meant there was a lot to do and answer for.
Post by HERMIONE GRANGER-WEASLEY on Oct 7, 2023 23:36:16 GMT -5
Hermione was handed a Butterbeer by one of her friends and she gave a grateful smile. She listened as Harry spoke, Cole patting the table with his little, chubby hands. "I couldn't agree more," Hermione said with a small laugh. She had tried not to get involved in the war at first but it had been pretty much inevitable. Neither her nor Ron could stand for Injustice which the Ministry had been doing a lot of.
"Very busy, I am glad for a gathering where I can just relax," she said with a chuckle. Well, as relaxed as a parent could get when they had numerous kids to keep an eye on. At least the older kids could mostly be counted on to stay out of too much trouble.
