Maeve isn't really the type to take someone under her wing, unless she sees a way of making that person a useful ally in the future. At the very least, mentoring someone has to somehow improve her image. With ANNABELLE BECKETT, this wouldn't work because of the radically overt hatred of muggleborns and half-bloods she's showing. Maeve would not associate herself with someone like that. The days of blood purism are over, and people who still share those views are generally hiding them pretty well. She wouldn't want to be friends with a girl who won't even speak to a half-blood, especially when half-bloods are mostly acceptable even to extreme blood purists. So the way I see it, Maeve would just be avoiding Annabelle's company, not befriending her. She's been working on her 'good Slytherin' image for a long time, and a friendship like that could ruin it.
