HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It's the new term. September will last 3 weeks and then the rest of the months will go back to the normal 2 weeks. This is to be in line with the time change on T&B (our Potter Era Jcink site).
DECEMBER AWARDS
Sorry these are so late and congrats to everyone! <3 These are for activity in November.
Awards by Beth
Gelly is so active and friendly all over the forums. Especially in November, of course, but even still. It's great to have you here, Gelly. <3
Beth won this by completing 4x her monthly staff requirementts in November (which was 35 then, but 50 now because she's a G-Mod). Congrats & thank you again for all your hard work. <3
Soren is a great character with a lot of good threads with many different writers. They're always a joy to read. Great job, Iggy! <3
Beatrice is always developing her plots and is quite a well written character. I personally enjoy seeing her around of course, but I'm glad that others do too! (: Congrats, Bailey. <3
T might only have one character, but they're very active all over the place with them. Their posts are such a joy to read as well. Congrats, T. <3
Ruth was new to us in November and she's still doing super well, with more characters since then too. It's great to read all her threads and it's great to have you here, Ruth. Congrats. (: <3

STAFF PROMOTION
This is a little late announcing it (I wanted to get all the announcements together), but congrats to Beth who is now a G-Mod! She already has been helping out with so much, now she just has the title to show all that she's doing. (: <3
NEW SHOPS RULES
There's a new section in the rules in owning a shop. Now each writer can only own up to 5 shops (anyone over this right now won't have to give up their shops, however) and any new shops need admin approval.
The reason being, there aren't a lot of shops realistically. The wizarding world in the UK is only about 4,500 inhabitants. So having 50 shops is a little ridiculous for only four thousand people, lol. If you want to make a new shop of something that we already have, it will likely be denied unless you make it in a different country (ex. France or Italy).
STUDENTS NEEDED
TB is based on systems of student activity: classes, events, clubs, Quidditch, etc. The amount of students to adults has SLIGHTLY increased (after initially getting worse after the last announcement about this). Please note that if it doesn't improve a lot more, we will have to be even more strict with the rules. Also, if it gets worse, we won't have things like clubs, Quidditch, active classes, other student events like Dueling Club, Clue, Gobstones, etc. anymore and TB will essentially cease to exist. That might sound a little dramatic but those are the things that make TB unique. There are other things as well, of course, but it is a major thing. So if we have to be more strict to be able to keep all of the systems it took years for us to develop and improve upon, we will.
OTY NOMINATIONS
The OTY nominations for 2020 will be out soon. Keep in mind that even though it's nearing the end of February now, only threads/characters/activity from 2020 can be nominated. If you nominate threads or characters made in 2021, those nominations will be ignored and not included in the polls.
A MORE SERIOUS NOTE
Look, I've tried to be nice about this. Encourage more inclusivity, friendliness, etc. But from now on, we're definitely gonna be a lot more strict with everyone's behaviour on TB. Harassing others, being rude, making others feel unwelcome, unwanted, or generally just not wanting to be on TB at all is not okay. Whether you are saying particular things or creating a vibe to make them feel this way doesn't matter. The result is the same. I'm not here to condone behaviour that makes people uncomfortable.
As it stands right now, TB is not TB anymore. Sites should evolve. And TB always has. But I will not have it DEvolve into a cesspool of cliques and a vibe that makes new people not want to join (or not want to stay if they do), and others want to leave because of a select few acting in a way to make them feel unwelcome. This is not okay. And it won't be allowed to continue.
So if this is you, know that the staff is done playing nice. We WILL be strict. And some may be asked to leave if it comes to it. We care far more about fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment than high activity. No one is above this, no matter how active or inactive you are.
