Minister Dyer, how do you feel your administration has performed in the last four years?
DYER: My administration has performed admirably considering all that we have faced in previous years. We reinstated the purebloods, got the cure out for all of wizard-kind, and have made great strides in the rights of witches and wizards alike. We are not at war, nor have any threat of one. The country is at peace. I would say that is quite the success considering how turbulent everything has been for the last couple of decades.
Mr. Weasley, you returned to the Ministry under the same job title without any ambition to do anything else to aid the Ministry after everyone was reinstated. How come?
WEASLEY: Right from a young age, I wanted to be a part of this glorious Ministry because I believed in the ideals of this institution. I was disappointed when I was fired from the Ministry for being born a pureblood. When I saw an opportunity to be back at the Ministry, I took it with both hands and I was happy to get the same job that I had held before being fired. Not once, and I repeat, not even once did my loyalty towards the Ministry wane. More than my ambition, its my loyalty towards the Ministry that made me take the same job that I had when I was allowed back to the Ministry. And right now, it's the same loyalty that is driving me to run in this election as I believe that I can improve the lives of the wizards and witches in Britain. I am a man who was ready to give my life for the Ministry during the Italian war when I took part in the battle inside Italian Ministry. Many a times did I notice events unfolding which I thought if I was in control could have been handled better. Countless times, I have had sacrificed my time and life for the Ministry and to make a better life for wizarding Britain.
Mr. Wright, do you care to explain the facts behind the rumours that various fireplaces have been disconnected from the Floo Network in south-east Scotland?
WRIGHT: There aren't any facts behind it. It's just a load of rubbish. The Floo Network is as connected as ever. If any individuals are disconnecting their fireplaces, it would be because they're moving and don't want any muggles to accidentally find it. That's just protocol when moving apartments or houses in general. Sorry to disappoint, but there's no grand conspiracy here.
Mrs. Granger-Weasley, you have recently become Head of the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. What strides have you taken in this time to improve your department, if any?
GRANGER-WEASLEY: We have taken great strides, thank you. Various creatures wrongfully charged due to previous corrupt and predetermined trials have been set free. House-elves are getting paid in various places in the country. And our relations with various creatures and beasts have improved dramatically. If elected, I wish to further our relations with all beings and create lasting amicable relations to benefit us both.
Mr. Malfoy, you have many positions within the Ministry, including head of the Department of International Co-operation. Please explain to us why someone who has worked their magic behind the scenes for most of his career suddenly wants to be in the limelight?
MALFOY: Ah, but you see, you've mentioned the head of the Department of International Co-operation. It is not a position that you can particularly call behind the scenes, not when one would have to go and meet with other wizards and witches with the same mindset. The fact of wanting to step out into the limelight would be simply one to pursue and assist in the ease of implementing rules which would assist the ease of bridging that gap between countries.
What are your thoughts on the sanctity of blood purity and its importance in the modern age?
MALFOY: There is a certain stigma which comes about with blood purists, and some (not all) have given the status a rather bad name for itself. I have made my amends from the past but it perhaps will not outdo all the things I have been accused of in the past. The Malfoys have had a rather tenuous run with blood purity, but with everyone intermingling with one another; I would not hold a huge importance to the matter in the modern age. I would continue to question those on both ends of the argument to think of where we wizards and witches would be without the pure-bloods.
WEASLEY: We have lived through times where being anyone other than a pureblood was considered impure. We have also lived through a time where being a pureblood was considered as your ticket to being fired from the Ministry. My wife is a halfblood while I am a pureblood. I do not believe that one blood type is superior to the other. Whenever we believed that one particular blood type was superior in sanctity, there were always violence. We live in a modern and it is about high time we embrace all types of people regardless of their blood types. If I am elected, anyone found discriminating one another on the basis of blood type would end up facing consequences.
What are your thoughts on the improvements on Hogwarts in the past years, including the new Dueling Tower, Associate Professors and the Sorting Scarf.
MALFOY: I do approve of the changes in Hogwarts. I no longer have a huge impact on how the school is run, though I would like to say I take an active stance in my family's involvement; especially with my grandson heading into Hogwarts. However, I do have to critique the Sorting Scarf - for traditions must still be upheld and it was a rapid change that I'm sure confused a lot of older students and professors at the school.
WEASLEY: It is no doubt that we all miss the Sorting Hat. I mean, when most of us started our school in Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat ensured that we be there where we would do well. And I feel the new Sorting Scarf to be interesting as well. I am pretty sure that the students would find it interesting as well. In terms of the new Associate Professors, I do believe this was unnecessary. It is always in the best interest of the students that a Professor who has a core expertise in a subject be teaching that subject. And Hogwarts has survived this long with this tradition and I feel it was unwise to introduce the new Associate Professors. Only time will tell whether the teaching quality in Hogwarts would change due to this. I just hope it changes for the better.
How involved in Hogwarts do you think the Ministry should be? And how much control should they influence over the wizarding school?
MALFOY: Now, now. I wouldn't think it was right to answer this as a Hogwarts Governor; people might get the wrong picture.
WEASLEY: Traditionally, the Ministry stays away from the daily functioning of the Hogwarts school. We have the best teachers at Hogwarts and each professor is an expert in his/her area. So it would be wise to leave the teaching and functioning of Hogwarts to the experts. However, I feel that if the teaching at Hogwarts falls below par, then that is a cause of concern and in that case the Ministry should intervene in the school affairs and investigate what is going wrong and take action to correct it. The Ministry does not want a compromise in terms of education offered to students and it was always ensure that the best education facilities are provided for the students
How do you respond to the rumours of a rising rebel thread in Scotland?
WEASLEY: There is a need to investigate more on this. If the rumor is true, then I am afraid the Ministry is not doing enough at the moment to deal with the issue. Rest assured, if I am elected, I would ensure that such rumors wouldn't even exist.
DYER: There isn't one. We always investigate any tips we receive and we've already looked into any rumours regarding this and have disproved them.
How do you respond to the rumours of a rising goblin rebellion?
WRIGHT: This is the first I'm hearing of it, actually. I haven't heard of any goblin rebellion for quite some time, so I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
GRANGER-WEASLEY: If there is, there always is an amicable way to solve things. If they are unhappy, we should definitely do what we can to reach an understanding.
How do you respond to the rumours of missing people rising?
MALFOY: Rumours beget rumours, my dear. I would not be so quick to think anything of it, but I do hope that they are found safely; if it so is the case. I'm certain that more people have gone missing before and unless there is a connection between them, I would think them wholly unrelated.
WEASLEY: It is a coherent issue that the Ministry is currently ignoring. Britain is no longer safe for the common man. People are afraid to stay and go out alone with all these disgusting news of missing people going on. I personally feel that the Ministry could do more to protect the people of London. If elected, I would ensure that such cases are prevented, and if in case such incidents do happen, I would ensure that they don't remain just rumors.
What are your thoughts on the status of beings such as werewolves and vampires pertaining to their liberties whether or not they commit acts of violence?
MALFOY: This is a matter that has been trodden ground; I do suggest that everyone is equal in the eyes of their punishments whether or not they are wizards, witches, vampires or werewolves. Of course, if they do not commit such acts and are contributing members of society - then we should find no reason to worry about them.
WEASLEY: Anyone who commits acts of violence should have their liberties cut off. It doesn't matter if they are vampires, werewolves, halfbloods or purebloods, as long as they follow the law, they will not be in trouble. Under my leadership, every citizen of Britain would be a free man or woman. No one would be discriminated.
