HOW MANY GAMES?
We will only be having 3 games per year for the regular team and 1 game per year for the junior team. For the regular teams, there will be 2 regular games and then a Championship game between the winners.
PLAYER REQUIREMENTS
All players must pass their exams each year and of course still be an active character on site. Please note that we have full teams for most years, so if you join, it's their first time joining. You can't say they were there all along because other players were in the positions. But you are free to say they were a Reserve before because there are no limits on those.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Everything is roleplayed out but there is also a random number generator to determine some things as well. No Godmodding is allowed - you can attempt to take away a Quaffle from someone or knock them off their broom but it's up to the other writer to say if you were successful. Unless it's something determined by the random number generator, assume regular roleplay rules apply.
RESERVES
After 30 posts (2 pages of roleplaying), the reserves will be called to replace inactive players (ones who haven't shown up to post in the game yet). They will replace the most important positions first (ones that only have 1 person in that position).
Please note that reserves replacing someone for not posting in a game is just for that particular game. They are still a reserve, however, until a spot opens up.
SEEKERS
A random number generator between 35-75 (15-30 for junior) will determine how long the thread will go until you can catch the Snitch. You will both receive a PM when it's time. Before that, feel free to fly around or see the Snitch and try to get it but not actually catch it. Or even try to fake finding it so the other Seeker takes a dive. But do try to post before you can catch the Snitch because otherwise you might be replaced by a Reserve.
If neither Seeker catches the Snitch 48 hours (2 days) after the PM was sent, whichever team was more active (has more posts) in the game will win. Only player posts count. So if a reserve was in play, only their posts as playing will count (not if they posted sitting watching before they were called in).
BLUDGERS (EVERYONE READ)
A random number generator is used to determine how often Bludgers can hit a player between 5-15. So say if the first one drawn is 7, that means the 7th post will get a Bludger sent at them. If it's an audience member, it'll always be the next player to post after that.
However, Beaters are also able to shoot Bludgers at players. So don't just look for a staff member's red posts to see if there are Bludgers.
If you get hit, it's a 78% chance of a minor injury (sitting out for 20 minutes aka 24 real hours to get checked out or mended) or 22% chance for a major injury (sent to the hospital wing and out of the game).
If you want your character to get hit before a Beater can save them, feel free to post saying they did get hit. However, the random number generator will still be used to see how bad of a hit it was.
BEATERS
Beaters are meant to save their teammates from incoming Bludgers. However, they can also send Bludgers at people. Just remember that there are only TWO BLUDGERS. So if there are already 2 heading towards players, you can't send a third Bludger at anyone because it doesn't exist!
You can save anyone from a Bludger including yourself.
Once a Bludger is heading towards someone, you have 48 hours to save them. Otherwise, they will get hit.
You may only either save your teammate OR shoot at an opposing player in a single post. This is so there is more room for random Bludgers too. If you want to shoot one at an opposing player, just post again.
CHASERS
Chasers shoot the Quaffle through the hoops. You can only attempt to score. It's up to the Keeper to see if they can block it.
Chasers can't hold the Quaffle for too long, so the game progresses. You may only hold it for up to 72 hours (3 days) before attempting to score or pass to another player. Otherwise, they will drop it.
Chasers can't take a Quaffle and fly across the stadium in only one post. You need to break it up or pass to a teammate. So for example, if the opposing team just scored on your hoops, you can't grab it and fly to their hoops and attempt to score all in one post. Though if you just scored and you're already at the hoops, you can always attempt to score again because you don't have to fly very far.
Chasers can try to steal a Quaffle from another Chaser in one of two ways:
-- Intercept when they are passing to their teammates. If you post before the other person, you get it!
-- Try to bump into them and knock them to get the Quaffle. First, the bumped player has 24 hours to determine the outcome (whether or not the interception was successful). If they don't respond in that time, a random number generator will be used to see the outcome. 50% chance of failing, 30% chance of making them drop it (anyone can grab it) and 20% chance of making them drop it and you catch it.
If the Keeper is out (because of Bludger or otherwise), you can assume that the Quaffle went in without waiting for a Moderator to confirm. However, the scoring Chaser must wait for 6 hours to grab it again or until someone else grabs it first (then they can intercept, etc.).
KEEPERS
Only Keepers can block Quaffles from going through the hoops.
They have 48 hours to post attempting to block the Quaffle (50% chance of success). A Moderator will reply with the result.
Their chance of blocking goes down by 10% every time they successfully block until they are unsuccessful and it goes back to 50% chance.
If they wish to fail regardless of % result, just put that in your attempt to block the Quaffle that you were unsuccessful. This is not an option for those who play a Keeper and a Chaser of the opposite team. You must always let the moderator determine the result (with the random number generator).
If someone does score on them, they are able to pick up the Quaffle and pass it to their teammates but they may not fly with it across the stadium leaving their goal posts unguarded.
