SELVEIRA INSTITUTE OF MAGIC
HISTORY
Selveira Institute was built around early 1645 within the vast jungles of the Amazon Rainforest. The Great Walkways connecting the three iconic trees of Selveira Institute weren't built and finished until later that year.
Ever since it's establishment, Selveira has always been lead by a Headmistress, giving ode to the Amazon warrior women of myth from Greece that share a name with the rainforest that Selveira resides in.
The three houses of Selveira were formed shortly after it's establishment when the first Headmistress witnessed the three animals (giant river otter, black caiman crocodile, and ocelot) all living together peacefully on the banks of the Amazon river.
HOUSES
Students are sorted into one of three Houses (Ariraí, Negarto, or Gacora), based on their personality.
House Name: Ariraí

YEARS
Students at Selveira attend school for eight years and are sent their letters of acceptance, via macaw delivery, at age 10.
PETS
Students may bring, if they so desire, either a Macaw, a Squirrel Monkey, a Capuchin Monkey, a Pygmy Marmoset, or a Coatimundi. No other animals will be allowed on school grounds as a pet unless verified acceptable by the Headmistress or the Brazilian Ministry of Magic.
GETTING TO SCHOOL
Selveira Institute of Magic is located in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil, far from the eyes of muggles. Treking through the jungle to reach the entrance is ill advised and as such, female students are given a copper Great Tree necklace, and males a silver Great Tree ring, wrapped in cloth along with their letter that acts as a time activated portkey to the clearing where students board the boats to get to the school.
The necklace and ring are only active the day school term starts and the day the term ends, any days in between the portkey effect will not be active and the necklaces/rings may be worn by the students.
(Upon sorting, the gems on the females necklace will change to the students house colours, and the males ring will stay silver if sorted into Ariraí or change to black titanium or copper if sorted into Negarto or Gacora respectively. The Great Tree design stays on the ring.)
Once teleported to the clearing students will file into 1 of the 18 boats floating in the spring (10 students can fit in each boat), and will be taken through a waterfall at the far end of the spring. Behind the waterfall is a rockface that acts much like the wall/barrier to get to platform 9 3/4 for Hogwarts.
Once through the barrier, the students will be floating on a giant lake with three Great Trees, all connected by vast walkways, directly in front of them that house the school. The boats will bring the students to one of two docks at the base of the tree on the shoreline and students will leave the boats onto the platform and be escorted across a rope bridge to one of the many roots of the Ariraí Tree where the door to the Átrio is.
LAYOUT OF SELVEIRA
Selveira Institute itself is built into the three Great Trees on it's grounds. Each of the Great Trees bears the name of one of the Houses of Selveira Institute and holds the Common Rooms of the house it's named after. The Great Tree on the water's edge is the Ariraí Tree and thus houses the Ariraí Common Rooms, which are located towards the top of the tree, as well as the Arithmancy classroom, Care of Magical Creatures classroom, Charms classroom, Divination classroom, and Muggle Studies classroom. The Átrio (Atrium) and Grande Sala (Grand Hall) are located on the same level as the classrooms but inside the tree.
The Great Tree to the Northwest of the Ariraí Tree is the Gacora Tree and thus houses the Gacora Common Rooms, as well as the Astronomy classroom, Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Herbology classroom, History of Magic classroom, and Transfiguration classroom.
The Great Tree to the Northeast of the Ariraí Tree is the Negarto Tree and thus houses the Negarto Common Rooms, as well as the Ancient Runes classroom, Dark Arts classroom, Dueling classroom, Mythology classroom, and Potions classroom.
The Great Walkways of Selveira Institute connect each of the Great Trees together in a triangle and each have a break-off walkway that leads down to the Pátio where students can relax and study in the fresh air. Even though the walkways are big enough for all students to walk across to get to the other trees (they're each 40 feet wide), students are permitted to fly on their brooms to the other trees if they so desire.
The Quidditch Pitch is located to the Southeast of the Negarto Tree and is surrounded by a 100 foot cleared area where students may gain access to the stadium by either flying or by portkeys set up in the Átrio on game days if you're unable to fly. The cleared area is protected by a magical barrier that keeps all magical and non magical creatures in the surrounding jungle from overruning the field.
CLASSES & EXTRACURRICULAR
Selveira has a quidditch program that any student years 3-8 may enter if there are open positions for their houses team. Normal Quidditch guidelines and rules apply.
FIRST & SECOND YEARS - Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Dark Arts, Dueling, Flying, Herbology, History of Magic, Magical & Non-Magical Literature, Muggle Studies, Mythology.
THIRD & FOURTH YEARS - Advanced Dueling, Advanced Flying, Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Astronomy, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Medical Magic, Potions, Transfiguration.
FIFTH & SIXTH YEARS - Students may choose 7-9 classes they wish to continue taking.
SEVENTH & EIGHTH YEARS - Students may choose 5-7 classes they wish to continue taking.
