Tamara woke up and looked at the alarm. It was still early in the morning but the bells were blaring in her head and with a grumpy grumble the woman turned of the alarm. She didn't like waking up early but she knew that Joel had to get to work, not to mention she also had a busy day ahead of her. She wanted to just drop her head on the pillow and ignore the alarm but she knew that wasn't an option. With a sigh she nudged Joel, who was lying beside her. "Get up sleepy, you have to get to work." She muttered, not sounding too exicted about the prospectof getting out of bed. She saw his head looming out of the darkness in a moment, his hair still messy from the night of rest. Somehow that made everything better and her slightly grumpy mood melted like snow in the sun. He was smiling and clearly not fully awake yet. "Mornin'." He muttered and quickly pecked Tamara on the cheek. She smiled, that familiar sense of happiness settling over her as she nudged him again. "Get up. You have to take Paige to daycare today." She said, her thoughts drifting back as she watched Joel move to get out of bed. The last years had been crazy. After having a child at a young age, things had been hectic at best. Tamara and Joel had gotten married not too long ago, after Paige had started to move out of the baby phase and had turned into a toddler. At times Tam still wondered how it had all happened so fast but with the little bright and bubbly little girl running around the house, it was hard not to feel blessed. Even though it had been hard, she wouldn't have wanted it any other way. With that thought Tam got out of bed and put on a robe before she headed to the room of their little girl. She opened the door softly and peered in, instantly caughting sight of a tiny little redheaded girl of about three and a half years old sleeping soundly. At least Paige hadn't woken up yet.
Joel soon emerged from their room and wrapped her in a hug. His arms were warm around her and she closed her eyes for a moment, savouring the moment. This was happiness, pure joy. His hair was still a mess like usually when he woke up but he looked just wonderful to Tam. He kissed her gently as a greeting before peeking in through the door. "She's still sleeping." He muttered. "We don't have to wake her up just yet." He said, sounding very convincing to Tamara. A small little promise in the early morning. Despite the temptation of such an offer, she knew there was no time for such things. She was already running late and she wasn't about to miss out on valuable time to practise for her upcomming concert. It was her dream and she'd worked very hard to get there. "I have to go soon. Daimon is probably waiting for me already and I really don't want to mess up my first big show." She said and slipped out of his arms, heading to the closet to get her clothes. She heard Joel sigh as she walked away before the door creaked and his voice came from the room of their child.
After taking a quick shower Tamara headed toward the living room, where she found Joel attempting to get Paige breakfast. Their little girl didn't feel like eating though and kept trying to avoid food. Tam chuckled and looked at the now blonde girl that was playing with her food rather than eating it. Paige took after Tam in appearance for a large part, although she wasn't by far as colourful. Her favourite colour of hair seemed to be red though, the kind of red Joel had back when he and Tam had first started school. It brought a smile to Tamara's face as she walked over to her daughter. "Eat up Paige. Daddy is taking you to daycare today." Tammie said and ruffled Paige's hair. Paige looked up at her mother. "Claire says I'm weird." She replied as she picked up a piece of bread. "She doesn't like my hair." Paige said and stuffed the bread in her mouth, looking up expectantly. "She's just jealous I bet." Tam replied with a shrug, pouring herself a large mug of coffee. "Eat Paige or you'll make your daddy late for work. And there aren't a lot of people who can change their appearance at will." Tam commented, turning her own hair blonde to match that of her daughter as she softly tapped the nose of her little girl. Paige giggled. "She has blonde hair. It's very pretty." Paige muttered but she ate the rest of her breakfast without saying too much. She obviously understood that she wasn't getting away with any more delaying on eating her food or going to daycare.
Tamara often wondered what it would be like, her future. In all honesty, she'd never expected to have a child at the age of twenty one, even less one of this age. She figured that she could have been expecting or something but even that had been something for the far future. She realised things had gone well, although not at all according to any kind of plan. It had all been quite a shock to both her and Joel when she'd discovered about the pregnancy. It had taken a few preaches from both their parents and a lot of help to keep things moving at that point. Sometimes Tamara had feared that her relationship with Joel would end because of it but they had pulled through all of that together. Since it had been after graduation, they had no trouble in keeping the child or getting kicked out of school. A moment of celebration had just turned out to have far greater consequences than at first anticipated. Even now, going through all of that still felt strange to Tamara. She was a mother now and found that role to be a very fulfilling one. Work awaited though and, and judging by the time she really had to get to work. She rushed over to Joel and Paige, giving her daughter a peck on the cheek and kissing her husband before she ran out into the garden to disapparate. She appeared in the studio a moment later, where Daimon was already waiting. She turned her hair to the preformance black that she used to keep some sense of privacy at home and walked over to Daimon.
The day wasn't very eventful until the tailor came in, just the usual practise along with the preparations. When Pierre came in, Tamara was instantly ushered over to the tailor for the outfit she was supposed to wear for her performance. It was custom made for her and was supposed to be a perfect fit. Tam was a little nervous about that. She suspected she'd been gaining weight lately. She didn't know how as she still kept the fairly strict diet she was on to make sure she remained in shape. She'd regained her appetite after a pretty nasty case of flu a while ago though so she feared she might have been over eating after growing slightly thinner. She'd tried watching her weight during the recovery process but it was a little more problematic than she'd thought it would be. She was worried that the tailor would chew her out if the dress didn't fit, as he was quite the temperamental type. When she got there she looked at the beautiful glimmering dress. The shimering black frabric had been decored with red and black gems and sparkles, leading to a very strange effect. It was a very nice dress, form fitting, supposedly. "It's beautiful." She said with a radiant smile as she looked at the dress a little closer, running a hand over it as she looked at the fine craftsmanship. "Yes it is. Now go put it on! We don't have all day." Pierre the tailor muttered, pushing her into a stall to change. Tam would have protested but she knew Pierre rather well. He was an extravagant man with impecable style and taste as well as a tiny heart of gold. He was just very good at hiding that little fact. Tam instantly put on the dress but when she tried to close the zipper she found she had a tiny little problem. "Pierre? It doesn't fit." She called out, the guilt leaking into her voice. She had gotten fatter, as it didn't close around her stomach any more. Strangely, it did fit in all the other places. She felt kind of guilty, knowing all the hard work that Pierre had put into it.
Pierre walked in with a very grumpy expression, giving her a look that wasn't too kind and checking the measurements, comparing the ones on paper with the current measurements the roll was making. "You got fat." He said shortly but she noticed a little twinkle in his eyes. She narrowed her eyes at him as he turned sharply and walked off to Daimon. She heard them speak in hushed tones for a while before Pierre came back. When he came back Tam looked at him expectantly and a little suspiciously. "I'll adjust your dress. It looks like you're not done getting fatter yet." He said and Tam's mouth dropped open to start snapping. She did the best she could to keep herself in shape and didn't really like the way he spoke to her. Then he suddenly smiled and cut her rebuttal off before she could get started. "Calm down Tamara, it looks like Paige is getting a sibling." He said and Tam instantly closed her mouth and blinked. Did he really just say that? She looked down at the partially open dress for a moment and looked up at him again. "What? Really?" Pierre just shrugged and walked off, getting his assistans and speaking rapidly to give new instructions while Tam was left on her own in a dress that was slightly too small. She was a little stunned as she looked own at her stomach again, not really understanding how it had crept up on her like that. She placed a hand on her stomach, almost as if expecting the little baby to try and kick it away. How exactly had she missed that?
She just had to tell Daimon to assure a short day. Since Joel wouldn't be home yet, she did finish off the rest of the day, although she was more than a little distracted by the news. Daimon teased her a little but he was very supportive in general. He even suggested writing a song together to celebrate, an offer Tamara glady took on. Sure, she had to get a test to confirm it but thinking back, it only seemed logical. The sickness, the gaining of weight despite holding to a strict diet. She'd even been more emotional. She had presumed it was stress getting to her because of the rapid changes and improvement in her career but she wouldn't have thought of a child. She hadn't expected it and the first time had been a lot different in the run up so it made sense for her to have missed it. Still, Tamara was quite surprised about not being able to see the signs, even though joy had the upper hand that day. She went through the rest of the day in a haze of sorts. She constantly got distracted and at a certain point in the process of writing the song Daimon just told her to go home early and get her mind straight again. She was no use to anybody when her thoughts were scattered all over the place. She thanked Daimon and went home, her thoughts focussed on telling her husband now. She just hoped Joel would be as happy as she herself was, although she was pretty sure he would be. Another child! Tamara smiled again as she apparated home after a short trip to the stores. She wanted to be sure before she told Joel and she wanted to celebrate in case the test was positive as she expected it to be. She started dinner as Joel wasn't in yet but he and Paige would be home soon enough. She wanted the surprise to be complete and she would take the test while the meals were in the oven.
She was just pulling the food out of the oven when she heard Joel coming in with Paige, the later telling some story that Tamara didn't quite catch. Their daughter sounded very happy though so Tamara figured everything was okay. She heard stumbling in the hallway for a second before Joel entered the room with Paige following closely. Joel seemed surprised to find his wife waiting for him along with dinner and he instantly gave her a questioning look. Tamara smiled at him to assure him everything was okay, as she didn't want him to worry. He didn't seem to convinced though and leaned against the wall while Tamara picked up Paige for a moment. "How is my little girl?" She asked. "Good!" The little girl replied, although it was obviously she realised something was going on. She looked back and forth between her parents for a moment before turning to Tam with big eyes. "What's going on mommy?" Tamara couldn't help but smile. She had a perceptive little girl on her hands. "Just go to your room and play for a little bit, okay? Daddy and I have something to discuss." "You aren't fired are you? Because that happened to Debby's father." "No, it's not something bad, I promise." Tam said and tapped Paige's nose softly. "Okay, but why can't you tell me?" Paige asked with a pout. "Because your daddy needs to know first. I'll tell you all about it later, Paige." Paige contemplated that for a moment before she nodded and smiled brightly. "Okay!" She said and after Tamara put her down, she ran to her room, free of any concern about the matter. Joel wasn't that easily distracted though. "What's wrong Tam? Are you okay?" He asked instantly walking over to her side with a worried expression and wrapping his arms around her. "I'm fine. Pierre just got me thinking about something." "Don't tell me you're doing some crazy diet plan. That last one had you throwing up for quite a while." "No, I'm actually on a different kind of diet now. No more red meat for a while." He just gave her a confused expression that didn't bode well. It was like he was already thinking up a kind of verbal attack to unleash on her tailor. Tamara chuckled and kissed him fondly. Although she thought he sometimes overdid the protective side, she was glad he cared that much about her. "I did get fatter since we took the measurements for the dress." She said with a twinkle in her eyes. "But Pierre somehow noticed it was the kind of fat that tends to make people happy." Tamara wasn't quite sure if he'd understand that one but she figured she was laying it on rather thick. He looked confused for a little bit though and then looked her over. She could almost see the gears turning in his head, trying to understand how getting fat could possibly make people happy. He looked at her and she noticed his eyes travelling down toward her stomach. Tam couldn't help but place a hand on her stomach as she smiled at him. She could see in his face that he'd understood as his eyes widened before he suddenly picked her up in his arms and twirled her around. He laughed loudly as he spun and Tamara herself squealed a little. "We're having another baby?" He asked cheerfully with a brilliant smile and Tamara just nodded. Joel kissed her fondly, making the kiss last for quite a while before putting her back down on her feet. He instantly looked down at her stomach as if he tried to see the little baby swimming around in it. Tamara was pretty sure he also wondered if it would be a little boy or girl. If the child would be healthy, perhaps combined with questions about moving into a bigger house. It was a perfect moment really. They'd been together for about eight years now and had their second child on the way. It was unreal in the very best of ways. Eight wonderful years and a perfect little girl. It was more than Tamara could ever have hoped for and now they had been blessed with yet another child. Her hands wondered to her stomach once again as she looked at Joel plating up their dinner. He was obviously already starting to act like the caring husband again, taking work away from her. Usually Tamara would have objected but right at that moment, she couldn't imagine anything to be better than the life she had in that moment. "Welcome to the world little baby." She whispered as the door opened and Paige rushed in to the room. 'And welcome to the world.' She added mentally, smiling as she sat down for dinner.
