The Dueling Tournament is done via roleplay. There is a points system so you can only do spells if you have enough points. Spells cost less, the sooner you reply after the previous post in the thread. There are Simple, Intermediate and Advanced spells. Not every year can do every spell (ex. first years can't do Advanced spells), so keep that in mind as well. (:
RULES:
• You may only cast one spell per post (exception: shield charm).
• No double posting to get more points.
• You must have the points to do the spells. The Moderator will try to keep the first post updated with your points total, but you also can do the math if they aren't online and your dueling opponent and yourself are in a heated, quick match.
• You may dodge a spell once in your duel. This will not cost points, but choose when you do so wisely! You may only dodge a spell if you post within 72 hours (3 days) of your opponent shooting their spell at you.
• You may only cast spells from the list of available spells for this tournament.
• You may only cast spells from the list that your character would know (aka first years can't do advanced spells).
• No non-verbal spells.
• If you perform a spell not on the spells list or a non-verbal spell, you will be disqualified.
• In order to block a spell, it costs the same to do a shield charm as what the spell that was cast at you cost (+/- the deductions if you reply quickly). If they cast an Advanced Spell at you, your Shield Charm will cost the same amount as an Advanced Shield Charm, whether or not you can do Advanced spells.
• You win the duel by hitting your opponent with a spell.
• If they do not shield themselves from your spell within five days of you casting your spell, you will automatically win the round.
• If you do not post within seven days of your opponent's last post, you automatically forfeit the duel.
• If neither post in the thread for ten days, a random number generator will determine the winner.
• You will get 20 House Points for each round you win (100 House Points for winning the last round).
