Basics of Herbology such as safety, more mundane plants and things like what helped a plant to grow well had been covered in earlier classes. Today, they would be discussing a plant that was a little more advanced at least in the sense that it was semi-sentient. They had covered some sentient and semi-sentient plants before but this time they would handling the plant.
"This plant here is called a Screechsnap," Nathaniel instructed the class as he waved his and and caused a plant with a purple stem, green leaves and purple buds to appear before each of them. "These plants have the ability to move and make noise." To demonstrate, he clapped his hands near his own Screechsnap and it screeched in protest, making it obvious why it had its name.
"These plants must be handled carefully as they can feel both pain and pleasure. When delighted, they will make a delightful humming noise. When displeased, they will screech." One student seemed to have poked their plant a little too hard and caused it to screech angrily. If a plant could be said to sound angry, at any rate.
"Today, we will be repotting these plants as they are getting too big for the pots they are currently in. I have provided you all with a larger pot that you can get from the back of the room. We repotted plants in one of our first lessons of the year but the difference this time is that the Screechsnap might not like which soil you choose to use, or fertilizer or how much you water it. Remember to get on your safety gear and let us begin. As per usual, I will be doing the task alongside you so you can watch what I am doing if you forgot how to go about things and I am here for any help or questions you might have."
That all said, he got on his own dragonhide gloves and began getting his own larger pot ready for the plants repotting.

A plant that felt pain made him a little nervous. The screeching would at least let him know if he was hurting it but it still felt too late by that point. The next thing was that the plant might not like the soil he used and what was he supposed to do about that? It sounded like a really picky plant if it didn't like certain soils, fertilizers or even watering. It was very likely the plant could die from stress if it hated everything he did. So he nervously put on his dragonhide gloves to begin preparing the larger pot with the dreaded hope he didn't get it wrong.
