A new term was beginning and it would be Delphine's first as a Professor. Her favorite subject was literature. The Wizarding world held so many magnificent and great authors. She did include some muggle aspects, only because she knew if she didn't it would seem a bit out of place. She was in agreement with herself to include some Shakespeare, he would suffice enough. The rest, she was prepared with so many wonderful authors and some not so pleasant. Such as Lockhart but his books had great lessons within them that she still planned to touch for certain years. She was a bit overly excited to teach but she did love children. Despite that fickle urge and itch within her that made her skin crawl when she discovered their blood status. It sickened her that they were even allowed in a place that was strictly magical. Wouldn't a muggle wizarding school be more fitting?
The brunette was seated sweetly at a beautiful little teashop, donning a gorgeous deep teal sundress as it was Summertime in Diagon Alley. Delphine gently set the cup to saucer as she enjoyed the flavor of chamomile and cinnamon with brown sugar. It was her favorite combination. Sometimes she would change it based on her health and other situations. Customers were coming in and out but one man entered that was familiar. Until he she furrowed her brow and spoke, "Rafe?" It was said softly and sweetly as she tried to meet his eyes from her seat on the small table for two. "I thought you looked familiar, would you like to join me?" She offered, her smile warm and comforting. Like an old friend welcoming you home from a long trip.
It wasn't often that Rafe frequented the streets of Diagon Alley considering he found the ambience of it rather off putting yet here he was finding himself placed inside a small little cafe amongst the many stalls and eateries available. His original purpose was to pass through Diagon Alley and make his way to Knockturn when he decided to spoil himself with a little lemon slice and cup of peppermint tea. The minty lemon and zesty flavours along side the mint was something Rafe constantly enjoyed.
He was standing in line minding his own business when a voice called out to him. It wasn't uncommon for others to reach out to him considering a variety of the Ministry staff also seemed to spend their lunch break here which was easily accessible through the floo powder network. Though what did catch him out by surprise was who called out to him. Specifically through his first name which was a nice addition rather than Mr.Lauren. Turning his attention over to the voice, he excused himself from the line by stepping out and looked at the woman.
" Forgive my rudeness, have we met before? " His eyes scanned the woman's head and worked his way down the body to her shoes and back up. She had a unique distinctive face yet there was something he couldn't quite understand. How had the two known each other before? Rafe was quite secretive about his past so perhaps there was a connection there that he couldn't quite connect just yet. Not many people knew of his past and those that did were given false information to hide his loyalty to Montenero during the prime days.

The bit of information that Delphine recalled was minor. They had known one another and the war mostly subsided. She was curious about this connection. Raising her brows, she gave a gentle smile. "No, no. Pardon me, I'm sorry, it must be odd having someone call you by your name when you don't recognize them. I remember your face. I think we used to dabble in some things together, you wouldn't happen to be a Slytherin Alumnus?" If it wasn't the past of wars, she knew she recognized him from school. Delphine was one who always poured into her studies and spent most time in the library. Other students would joke about her being the future librarian at Hogwarts because of it, not to mention back in the day she tended to style her hair much differently.
"Delphine Montefiore. I graduated in 2005, Merlin that feels like a century now..." A soft sigh escaped but Delphine's demeanor didn't change. She wasn't upset it had been that long, only that she worried about the things she needed to do while she was still in this world. Her eyes had fallen from him but she returned them. "You were fairly good at Charms if I recall? I spent a lot of time in the library but I used to love watching the older students practice spells." There were several occasions she recalled seeing him in the courtyards as well. "How has life faired since school?" There was a gleam in her eye then because there was a darkness seeping through. One that hinted at the possibility of memories outside of school. However, they weren't quite in the area to discuss certain things, not without being the next gossip around Diagon Alley.
It was almost as if a light bulb lit up in Rafe's mind when hearing what Delphine had to say. The memories began to flash back into his mind when he remembered his own time schooling at Hogwarts. It was a curious time for the young Slytherin. He not only dabbled in dueling but was also loved to experiment learning Charms and modifying them. At an early age, he wasn't exactly as capable of creating spells as he could now so it was only natural for him to explore a lot of theory work back in school.
A smile erupted on his face as the scenes of his schooling years flashed in his memory bank like some sort of cinematic movie trailer of his life. Rather boring some would say. " Ahh yes!" He finally responded after pausing for a longer than normal time as he tried to figure out who he was talking to. " Delphine! Yes I do remember actually!" He replied with a keen tone to his voice as he nodded.
" You have a vivid memory. " he exclaimed rather curious at how well she could remember certain things. " Mind if I join you? " He asked as he helped himself to a seat even before getting a response from her. " Life has been .... Interesting. " He couldn't exactly say or reveal his past considering he was a private person and he didn't know if Delphine was part of Montenero or not. "I'm working as an Unspeakable. Department of Mysteries. I'm still working on the creation of charms on the side however. Yourself? " He asked hoping to change the topic away from his past and onto her.

One thing that people never realized about Delphine was how much she paid attention. The world wasn't a safe place and she never really trusted those around her too much. Her parents had drilled into her head at a very young age that sometimes the ones we think we can trust are our enemies. The smile on her lips was small and comforting, she wasn't a loud person. Delphine was always rather quiet but that was because of calculation. There was never a moment she wasn't calculating something, even if it was just how many steps to an exit. Raising her brows, her smile curled at the edges a bit more and she shook her head. "Not at all." No sooner than the words had begun to leave her lips, the male had seated himself. A soft tint of pink hit her cheeks, she enjoyed his enthusiasm. "You can say that again." Giggling lightly, she listened as he spoke. Taking a sip of her delicious tea, the sweetness from the brown sugar seemed to have settled slightly. The end of the cup was always her favorite, as she wasn't much of a stirrer. Not after the years of watching her mother who was an overstirrer. Merlin.
"How wonderful. Seems as though you're making a name for yourself." Setting the empty cup on her saucer, she met his eyes. There seemed to be something in there, of course, he had thoughts but she wasn't sure how to read him. Right now, she would continue to calculate. "I actually just took a position with Hogwarts. I'll be teaching Wizarding Literature, one of my favorite subjects." Delphine was beyond ecstatic. Especially considering over the years she hadn't done much. During Mortenero time, she wasn't directly associated. So for the most part, she only knew what was going on with things she either witnessed or due to her being on their side. Her father had been heavily devoted to it but had asked her, personally, to stay out of it. Too dangerous, bullocks. The teapot that sat just off to the side was still steaming with her tea waiting to be poured. In a matter of seconds, the charmed kettle began to pour for her as she kept her attention on Rafe. "How is life treating you after the war? I haven't been a part of war in ages, honestly but I'm shocked the Ministry didn't prevail. I was rooting for them the entire time." What the Liberamach did was against the law.

Rafe liked to believe that despite the secrecy involved in his role, that he was actually quite social about the stuff he does without sharing too much information. He nodded his head slightly as he placed himself into the available seat. The invisible cushioning charm was a nice addition to the rather old worn out chair. It was quite the pleasant surprise if anything. Rafe tended to observe the things around him more than ever. " You prefer tea over coffee?" Whilst he too enjoyed a simple cup of tea, moments like these where he was taking a short break from Ministry work normally involved requiring the caffeine to get him through the last few hours.
" Well...." He replied shrugging his shoulders slightly. " I wouldn't say make a name for my self. " He responded thinking about how his work reputation which often gained quite the controversy considering his role in the department let alone a select few that knew of the actual work he was doing. " I tend to keep my head down and just stay under the radar." He had been approached multiple times asking to take on a management base role within the department but he much preferred just doing his work and leaving it behind. He wasn't one to take on the step of progressing up the management chain in order to prove something unless there was a purpose behind it.
" Well congratulations." Whilst teaching had been an area he was interested in, he never actively pursued the career path. " It takes a different type of resilience to be surrounded by prepubescent monsters." He added with out a sense of laughter to his voice. " I do hope it pays well." He further added shaking his head slightly. " Following your passion with Wizarding Literature I see?" He asked with a curious tone in his voice.
" Life post war... " Rafe had to really think about that for a second. He wasn't sure how much to share or what he should even share. He had a habit of telling one person one thing and a lie to another so that nothing would ever be suspected of him. " Life has been great. What can I say. I enjoy what I do and I get to travel for work. Sure, some of the injuries are quite harsh but that's all part of the fun. " He smiled softly as his order for a coffee arrived along with two slices of cheesecake. " Help yourself."
