Hogsmeade was if any, one of the happiest and most magical places Levi could ever think about. Every corner of his eye was filled with magical items, food and accessories. Being a fourth year meant he was able to venture out to Hogsmeade and he was rather excited this year to see what had changed. He made his way from store front to store front as he peered into the windows to see what was on display and if there was anything he would spend a pretty coin on.

Julian braced against the chilly November air, eying the dangerously overcast sky as he arrived - along with many other (albeit actually excited) Hogwarts students - into the Hogsmeade village. It had not been a particularly long walk down from Hogwarts castle, but already the bite on the wind had frosted his nose and he felt almost glacial beneath his dark robes. At least he had the foresight to wear leather gloves so that his fingers weren't in danger of falling off. Despite the discomfort, he felt invigorated.
Although he would have much rather remained at Hogwarts during the November school trip to Hogsmeade - the need for new quills and parchment had brought a reluctant Julian away from his studies at the castle and onto the foreign cobblestone pathways of the village. He had never been in Hogsmeade before - and therefore was quite unfamiliar with the layout. Several teachers had accompanied the travelling students down for the day, and had offered a tour of the many haunts of Hogsmeade - but of course Julian did not feel like shadowing authority, nor did he want to be roped into being herded around like stupid cattle, shuffling from one store to the next.
Moving away from the newly formed tour group, Julian wandered down the first row of shopfronts, passing by brightly lit windows and playful displays meant to catch the attention of the students and draw them in. Julian eyed several young boys peering into what appeared to be a sporting goods shop - their noses pressed firmly against the windows as they exclaimed excitedly over something on display. He continued past them, eyes scanning the faded writing of shop names nearby, hoping to luck across what he was looking for.

A small breeze of chilly wind wafted past Levi's nose carrying with it a scent that was so particular and so unique that it caused him to divert his attention to where he believed the source was. It carried a sweet yet savoury scent sending his nose into search mode. " Is it a fresh batch of Butterbeer?" One could only assume it would be some form of food as the scent travelled in the air, through his nose causing his stomach to grumble slightly.
"Where is it... " He whispered to himself as he moved away from one of the windows leaving a hand print on the glass which didn't exactly leave the shopkeeper happy with the smudged fingers on the glass amongst the slobber of the other people there peering in breathing onto the glass. Another breeze of wind carried an even stronger scent as he continued his search for the mysterious smell.
He paced back and forth doing his best to find what was creating that smell as his stomach continued to grumble. His nose, so overworked and entranced by the smell, caused Levi to start sneezing multiple times. The early signs of a cold which, as a precaution, caused Levi to raise his scarf over his nose and mouth.
"Julian?" Levi called out after noticing a common face in the distance. He called out again but this time lowering his scarf ever so slightly so his voice would carry in the wind. "I'm sorry." He said as he apologised for bumping into a Goblin who he believed wasn't too impressed with his actions. " Great to see you finally outside of the classroom. " He replied once he was close enough as he began to breathe into his hands.

Julian grimaced as he continued on, the bitter cold seeping into his skin and chilling him right to the bone. Although he appreciated colder weather, and far preferred it to any heat - wandering aimlessly in this weather wasn't doing his mood any favours. He had come to the central square of Hogsmeade, which seemed to be the meeting point for many of the visiting students who had gathered in a crowd around the various tea shops and cafes that lined the open area. Julian hesitated momentarily, scanning the shops that surrounded the square - looking for a Scrivenshafts Quill Shop, but to no avail. He sighed quietly, the exhale causing a small plume of steam before him.
"Julian!"
A voice carried on the wind, breaking him from his contemplation.
He turned slowly, eyes narrowed before him as he scrutinized the faces, searching for the one that seemed to be focused on him. It didn't take long for him to spot the oncoming boy, thick scarf pulled up around his face, shock of white hair: Levi Hilfiger. Julian watched as he approached from afar, the Ravenclaw's concentration solely on bee-lining it to Julian so much so that he missed the Goblin moving through the crowd and subsequently bumped into him. Julian's hand twitched toward his wand at the interaction, glaring at the Goblin who seemed intent on cussing the student out. Nothing came of it, however, and the creature moved on. He relaxed as Levi reached him, "Hilfiger," he acknowledged, still watching the Goblin move through the mass of gathered students, "he touched you," he remarked tempestuously, nose wrinkling slightly in disgust. Goblins had no right to bump into a Pureblood wizard and get away with it, let alone cuss one out.
"Great to see you finally outside the classroom."
Julian brought his attention to Levi, tearing his eyes away from the now distant Goblin and back to the Ravenclaw, meeting his brown eyes briefly before sighing, "if you wanted to see me outside of class you only need ask..." he sneered, watching Levi's futile attempt to warm his hands, "...although I'd probably say no. I'm shocked my general lack of interest in playing at friendship with you hasn't seemed to sink in." Julian ran his icy eyes over Levi's face, spotting the raw redness on his cheeks where the scarf failed to protect his bare skin against the cold. His sneer fell into a frown, "if you're purposefully trying to get sick, you're doing a spectacular job." Julian tore off his dragon-leather gloves, handing them to Levi nonchalantly, "put them on."

The crowds gave the illusion that Levi was swimming through a sea of bodies before reaching his goal of interacting with his friend. Alas, through dodging a fanged frisbee, almost squishing someone's pet worm and dodging a couple of students having a fun duelling session in the middle of a crowd did Levi finally manage to be in close reach. To add to this, the blistering winds that welcomed nothing but sickness in the near future for the young Ravenclaw let alone surviving an encounter with either a very old but young looking goblin or just a grumpy old goblin.
" Yes. Yes he did touch me?" He replied with an eyebrow raised as he turned his attention over his shoulder to watch as the Goblin cussed under his breath as he made his merry way to where he had business to attend to. " Leave it Juls. It's not worth it. " He responded knowing just how fiery spirited Julian could get over things and especially when it came to someone who was a different being to what he was. A pureblood.
" Grumpy Juls. " Levi joked as he softly nudged his stubborn friend. Levi knew what stance Julian had on certain type of magical beings and how he percevied some as less than equal for not sharing a pureblood family line. Despite Levi not really being interested in all that type of things, he enjoyed being around Julian and the fact the two had practically grown up with each other due to the interactions of their families in the past. " Oh yeah, Dad told me to tell you he said hi. " He added before lowering his scarf ever so slightly to reveal his lips which offered a clearer tone to his voice.
Hearing the double sneer coming from Julian only proved one thing to Levi. At this realisation came too, Levi softly smiled. " Do I detect a presence of care coming from you Juls?" He mocked as he shook his head and continued to do his best to warm up his hands before smiling at Julian while shaking his head. " You're very nice and I appreciate you doing that, but I must decline your offer. " It was Julian's first time in Hogsmeade from memory and the last thing he wanted was to see his friend give up what little protection they had to help him.
" Have you had some lunch yet? " He asked as he placed his right hand into his pocket whilst his left floated over his stomach still feeling the slight grumble echoing within his body. " How about a cup of tea and some cake? My shout? " Levi, who for some reason, was blessed with a mass amount of wealth always seemed to offer to pay for his friends but he had not yet offered to pay for Julian purely because he had a feeling their family line was much more wealthy than the Hilfigers who's old money was based in establishing a well known international fashion label in the muggle world.

"Leave it Juls. It's not worth it."
Julian sniffed begrudgingly at Levi's words, daring not to take his eyes off the Goblin until he melted into the crowd and out of view. Only then did he give up feeling incensed at the audacity of the lower creature, turning instead to address the Ravenclaw as he was called grumpy. The absolute nerve. "I am grumpy", he emphasised the word, "because I seem to be the only one here that bothers with the traditional roles of Pureblood wizardry."
He felt the playful nudge against his ribcage, but remained stoic as he watched Levi lower the scarf to speak more clearly, blinking as he mentioned his fathers greeting, "I'm sure he did - would you like to continue playing messenger for our conversation or shall I send an owl instead?" Although Julian was quietly comforted that a familiar adult had sent word to him, it was a painful reminder that his own father had decided to not even see him off to Hogwarts that year - despite his transfer meaning the entire experience was entirely new. No, Marcus Mulciber preferred isolation nowadays - and rarely interacted with his son (unless for punishment, of course).
"Do I detect a presence of care coming from you Juls?"
Julian's eyes narrowed at the mockery, "That's laughable. I'm looking out for myself and right now you're idiotically underdressed for the weather. If you get sick, you may pass it onto me. That's all." Julian crossed his arms incredulously as Levi rejected his gloves, already feeling his fingers start to numb. "Fine. Freeze. Lose your fingers for all I care." He did care of course, but he wouldn't admit it. The fact he had offered at all should be testament that he held Hilfiger in higher regard than most.
Julian shook his head, unfurling his arms to replace his leather gloves, feeling the instant warmth spread to his hands. "No-" he paused suddenly, hearing Levi's stomach begin to grumble. Julian's eyes darted to Hilfigers abdomen before they lifted back up, "-underdressed and underfed," he remarked, humoured, "I did not just hear you suggest tea and cakes to me," he then replied, "we can go get you some food, though. Proper food... Then you can show me where Scrivenshafts Quills is."

It was somewhat admirable to see someone stand up for Levi in both a general stance but of course in Juls's case, it was more because of the different beings kind of concept. Whilst Levi respect Juls's view, he also appreciated some may not share the same respect that he had toward Juls. Their families had known each other for years if not decades. It was perhaps a blood purism concept that Levi had been doing his best to avoid.
" Traditional roles of Pureblood wizardry is just that. " He responded with a lower vocal dynamic to his voice as he assessed the situation and noticed too many eyes on the two of them. " It's just tradition. " Levi knew better than to argue with Juls who spoke so highly of his tradition. No matter how often the two would chat about this, Levi would always find himself on the loosing end of the conversation stick.
" Funny!" Levi responded as just how quickly and witty Juls was able to come up with a response. " Speaking on tradition, we live in a somewhat modern world now. " Despite his mobile phone not working in the magical world, he mimicked picking up a phone and placed it next to his ear. " It's called a mobile. Fancy things. They don't rely on owl power anymore. " Surely this was a witty enough answer.
" Oh Juls, you do care for me!" He said while smiling. Julian and Levi had been almost like brothers despite not having the same view points on a lot of things. The two practically grew up with each other. " Thanks though. Love you too. " He played around by blowing a kiss about the air hoping to get some form of reaction from him.
" Underdressed and underfed. I'm a Hilfiger after all. " He joked as another rumble echoed loud enough for the two to hear. Being a Hilfiger didn't really mean much as some parents of his family line still cared about blood purism - like his father, others didn't care too much about it. Levi, despite having his own reserved views, had never really opened up his view point on things but more so, was the bringer of peace. " What's wrong with tea and cake? " He replied as he began walking toward one of the cafe's in the area. " So how has the world domination plans been going? " This was Julian's chance to have a main character moment.

"Others may castigate you for how you treat lower beings. Do not pay them any mind, Jules, they can not understand."
Her voice echoed in his mind as Julian half-listened to Hilfiger brushing off his concern over the Goblin. His mother had warned him early on that outsiders to the Mulciber household may not share their zealotic ideologies - and unfortunately it seemed to him that many Pureblood families had lost their sense of pride. With an inward sigh at the realization, Julian let it go for today. There would be more opportunities to sway others' thinking.
"Yes," Julian responded, noting the lower tone in which Levi had chosen to speak, watching the other wizards eyes dart to the crowd around them. "Traditions are generally held for a reason, Hilfiger, or did you conveniently forget that our traditions have served us well for many generations?" They had shared this conversation many times - and Julian could not believe they were here again. He could not fathom the lack of values that the Hilfiger family seemed to have passed down to Levi - especially as he belonged to one of a few remaining Pureblood families - and as such should have been both proud and upstanding in what that meant: superiority.
As Levi mentioned the modern world, lifting his hand to make a gesture by his ear, Julian stared blankly at him, wondering what on Merlin's earth he was doing. "Tell me you did not just suggest I lower myself to utilizing Muggle technology." Julian felt disgusted at the prospect and he was sure his expression reflected it. "Owl power is only temporary-" he further argued, though less intensely, ""-just wait until we receive our Apparition licenses, then I could simply apparate right to you if I needed to discuss anything." Julian cocked an eyebrow with a smirk, "can Mudbloods do that with their mobiles?"
"Oh Juls, you do care for me!" Seeing Hilfiger beam at him almost caused Julian to feel slightly warmed despite the cold. Although he had a frozen exterior, Julian always had a soft spot for family - and Levi had proven stubborn enough to stick around, despite his best attempts to shake him off. Naturally, Julian hadn't always been ill-tempered and almost cruel at times - growing up he had been much like many other young boys: playful and inquisitive (and perhaps that is how Hilfiger remembered him most). However, his homelife had carefully and methodically moulded him into something else entirely... His mother had encouraged Dark Arts tutelage vehemently and the whispers in his ear had deepened his distrust of outsiders. When she passed - Julian only fell further into confusion, with only his fathers sudden intense cruelty to comfort him. This only turned Julian hard as steel in his heart.
Julian stepped aside the blown kiss, calculating its invisible trajectory as his eyebrows furrowed in absolute incomprehensibility, "do not presume--" he began, quite at a loss for words. He had never told so much as family that he loved them - love was not a word that the Mulcibers used very often, if at all. You demonstrated your love with action, and acts of service. You did right by the family, for the family. Here, Levi was joking with him about it. It confused him greatly.
He heard Hilfigers stomach rumble for a second time, and judged that they were likely a few minutes shy of Levi eating his own scarf. He scoffed as the Ravenclaw asked what was wrong with tea and cake, turning slightly to scan the shop fronts around them. Luckily, being at the centre of Hogsmeade meant that they were surrounded with ideal meeting locations for students to sit and eat before continuing on with their shopping. Hilfiger seemed to have spotted something, so Julian fell into step, his height allowing him to look over many of the students' heads.
"So how has the world domination plans been going?"
Julian allowed the crowd to part before them, carefully tilting his body away from those around him. He hated being touched. "Is that what you think I want to achieve?" He asked interestedly, wondering what had prompted such a question. "I'm not so naive to think that I have the capacity or capability." He was only a third-year at Hogwarts after all. Julian felt he had only scratched the surface of Dark Arts, let alone mastered any forms of magic. Of course that was all in due time. He would become stronger. Right now, however, was time to be quiet and learn.
Levi had successfully led them to a popular location - Brews and Stews Cafe - where many visitors were already seated in the fenced courtyard - charmed candles floating above their heads. As Julian passed the fences the temperature immediately increased and it was as though he had walked through a veil of warmth. Julian glanced upward at the candles, feeling the heat radiate from them. Magic truly was incredible. He seated himself in the far corner of the courtyard, stretching his long legs out under the table and leaning back in his chair comfortably, "tell me, would you tutor me in spells you're learning currently in fourth year?" His thoughts about being incapable right now bothered Julian immensely. He wanted to advance further in magic so that he may dominate his years at Hogwarts without breaking a sweat. That way he could focus on others things that held his interest. He knew Levi was fairly good in Offensive magic - which would be instrumental later on.

] A family event was always quite the interesting scene to witness. How he only wondered what non purist families partook in family events. The Hilfiger on his father’s side always spent thirty to forty minutes talking about the scum they encountered through their everyday interaction with both half bloods and dar they say, mud bloods. His uncles would constantly tell Levi to follow the father’s side focusing on blood purity.
“ Well. “ Levi finally responded hearing what Jules had to say about traditions. Credit where credit was due. He did have a point. His mother who seemed to also have conflicting thoughts about blood purity was no innocent angel either however, she was quite confusing. One day she would be all for the blood purity cause and other days she would have second doubts about everything. Odd what menopause did for some people or something like that.
“ Well, you are right in that aspect…. “ His blood line being a pure blood and having the right connections at the right some almost worked out to be giving some sort of clout vibes. If ever his father or their family needed something, they would always be sure to get it. One owl away as they always say. The reason Levi had not yet fully turned his back on the cause is because of exactly what Jules had said. He too had benefited from the cause one way or another. Wealth was one thing but a career post Hogwarts ready in the snap of the fingers was the bigger picture.
“ The non-magical folk …. “ Levi responded to hearing how Jules spoke about mudbloods. “ They have something called face time. “ It was an interesting concept and somewhat made our owl system look quite outdated. “ Well, they can’t physically be in the moment but it’s just a form of connection between two people. “ He felt like Jules would continue to talk about the blood purist supremacy and he knew he had to change the topic and change it fast before things got out of hand.
“ Hmm so not much movement in taking over the world power stuff is there? “ He suddenly remembered something his dad had said to hi a couple of weeks ago. “ You know, my dad mentioned that we should grow in numbers. Does he want us to multiply or gather people to that cause? “ He asked with a confused face as he finally stopped at the cafe. What his father meant was quite confusing. In all honesty, Levi knew exactly what his father wanted which only added to some of the other things he had been training him in.
“ You know what’s weird right? “ Levi said as they made their way to an empty table as they waited for the staff to arrive. “ My father has been teaching or training me on how to lead the family. Maybe he knows something we don’t? “ His father was an Auror and he did always seem to place his life at risk for the job.
“ We’ll start with two house soups and please leave the menu.” Levi frequented this cafe and knew the person taking their order was a Squib but he wondered if Juls had known about this. The thought pondered on his mind as he watched the person walking away.
“ Teach you spells? Like dark magic or normal offensive magic or charms or what? Gotta be specific y’know? “ Although he wasn’t too invested in dark arts, his father had spoken to him about some dark magic where he also emphasised that not all blood purists are dark wizards and not all dark magic is bad magic.

"Well, you are right in that aspect..." Levi had responded with what Julian perceived as slight hesitation. He narrowed his eyes somewhat at the lack of pure agreement, but figured even a hesitant agreement was likely the best he was going to receive. It was frustrating to no end - watching pureblood wizards uncertain about their stance in society. Generations of mudding the waters and a rise in the prospect of equality had driven most pureblood families away from their traditional roots, forcing them to be apologetic for past behaviours. Disgusting.
As Hilfiger went on to explain something to Julian about Muggle technology, Julian's forehead creased in disbelief, "don't tell me you have partaken in this... this... face -- thing?" He waved his hand dismissively, "you sound impressed by their ability to communicate over distance - like we haven't been doing it for hundreds of years already." Sending an owl had been the reliable choice of wizarding families for generations as a form of communication - with the Floo Network becoming more and more popular for distant communication in modern times. Julian found it much more civilized to personally hand-write a letter to someone, and much more mannered to personally deliver news via the Floo Network or Apparition. To him, these aforementioned muggle means of communication sounded rather barbaric and impersonal.
Julian's ears perked up as Levi mentioned his father discussing growing Pureblood numbers, and he digested the information readily. "You can't gather what doesn't exist outside of our already dwindling numbers," he responded, though then paused thoughtfully for a moment, eyes darting across Hilfigers face, "what cause is your father interested in?" He needed specifics if he was to understand completely. Levi had spoken about growing in number - but was he referring to Pureblood numbers (in which case it meant arranging the marriages of the sons and daughters of the existing families) or simply those that sided with the former Dark Lords teachings?
As Levi continued, Julian remained leaned back in his chair, silent and thoughtful. "My father has been teaching or training me on how to lead the family. Maybe he knows something we don't?" Perhaps. Julian mulled on the statement briefly before looking away, his eyes glazing over as he stared into the distance, "you are the heir of your family, Hilfiger. Your father preparing you seems like the right of passage." Was that a hint of jealousy he felt bubbling somewhere in his abdomen? Although Julian was also the heir to his Household, he hadn't received any tutelage from his father since his mothers passing... And even prior to that event, his mother had been the avid coach. It was as though Marcus Mulciber had checked-out of fatherhood altogether.
Hilfiger ordering the food brought Julian's attention back to the present, and he turned his head back toward Hilfiger just as the waiter left their table. He caught Levi's eyes following the man, and so curiously raised an eyebrow, "what? Something wrong with him?"
Julian nodded, "I know you excel in offensive magic, which is an area I currently lack in expertise." Although Levi had mentioned Dark Magic, Julian felt less than confident in agreeing to such so readily and publicly. Despite the two of their families being close - Julian had been taught not to trust anyone outside of the Mulciber household - so admitting he had an interest in dark arts was not something he wanted to pursue just yet. Better to focus on things that allowed him to increase his skills in magic whilst also being within acceptable standards. "Your mother was a Healer also, was she not? If you have any insight into healing magic, I would also be very interested." Although healing magic might have seemed incompatible with dark magic, Julian was desperate to learn to marry the two together, despite the complexity of both routes. He sought Dark Magic as a tribute to his mother and her teachings - while his interest in Healing stemmed from previous Healers inability to cure her from her illness. He would be better, no matter the cost.

There were certain people in the magical world which truly questioned your sanity.Levi, being a pureblood had heard a variety of things in his short life span and he had met his fare share of blood purists in his short little life span to know that the person he was having dinner with would eventually grow out to be just like his father and his so called friends were. The very same friends that would devise little schemes of carrying on the blood purist theme amongst the remaining pureblood families. Sometimes, it was a little worrisome what they had planned.
Just hearing how Julian spoke of muggle technology and how in his world, behind it was really made him understand Julian just that little bit more. He was not one to judge. If anything, he embraced that Julian was able to share his concerns and was comfortable enough to speak to him about him considering at School he hardly spoke a word to the others. Or did he know that some of the peers he was around were not of the same blood line.
“ Face time? “ Levi said trying to finish Julian’s sentence and hoping he was correct on that answer too. Julian seemed stumped when he was explaining FaceTime to him. It’s almost like he avoided muggle stuff completely. “ Honestly, it’s not as bad as you think it is. Technology is advancing at a dramatic pace. “ He turned around before finally facing Julian. “Do you think we’ll ever have something like it but in the magical world? I hear some really powerful witches and wizards can send messages with their patronus.
Levi wasn’t even capable of producing a patronus nor has he ever tried but the thought of being able to produce one yet alone send a message with one was quite amazing.
“Yes.” He simply responded to what Julian was saying. Perhaps he had said too much. His sharing of his father’s ideas were meant to be a secret to some extent. Julian was fairly despite having no blood ties with each other. “ He’s interested in having us raise our numbers through marriage. “ He shook his head slightly. “The concept of finding someone that’s pure pureblood so rare. You know what I mean.”
A simple smile came upon his face after hearing what Julian had asked for. Levi was proudly boasting of his offensive magic which didn’t seem too much of a problem for Julian. His healing skills however, were questionable. “Last time I tried to heal someone, I gave them an extra ear… Are you sure about this? “ He asked as he noticed his food arrive and the same waiter as before drop the food off.

"Face time?" Hilfiger had offered when Julian failed to remember exactly what the Muggle technology was called. He was completely dismissive of it - there was no way Julian Mulciber was about to dabble with Mudblood inventions - no matter how convenient. "Sounds completely asinine," he waved it away, shaking his head. He half-listened as Levi attempted to explain the perks of the technology, stating that they were advancing at a dramatic pace. Julian's eyebrows knitted thoughtfully, glancing up at the mention of a patronus. Julian had heard of the charm briefly - for it was famously difficult to achieve in its entirety, and few students were capable of producing the silvery guardian. "I think we'll have something like it, but better," he answered without much thought, for naturally Julian was going to believe that anything Muggles could do - wizards could do better.
On the topic of Patronus', Julian recalled a tale his mother had whispered to him when he was much younger, and he frowned, "have you heard what happened to the famous wizard Raczidian? I don't think i'll be attempting to produce a Patronus anytime soon." Julian internally doubted he would be able to produce a Patronus at all - for he had heard that to do so, one required a strong, happy memory - and happiness for Julian was a grey area. He wasn't entirely happy with anything in his life thus far: his family was broken and he had lost his one true pillar of support and he was facing an unknown future in a new place surrounded by mostly new people. And although it was an adventure in and of itself, Julian was indeed still suffering in silence.
Julian found it difficult to relate to many people - and to be quite honest it was not an area of expertise that he particularly cared to excel in given his history of losing people he loved. The boy before him was one of the very few Pureblood wizards of which Julian might consider a tentative friend, if not family. But this perception of the Ravenclaw created a conundrum for him: family meant unquestioning loyalty - and that was something Julian wasn't sure if he was ready to commit to Levi.
All this discussion about Pureblood superiority had never seemed to sit right with Hilfiger, which of course, was a problem that Julian tried to overlook the majority of the time (though not without internal strife). Right now, however, Levi had mentioned his father's interests and ideas - and this struck Julian as particularly interesting. He was aware that Levi and his father did not share all the same ideals - for that much was obvious. Julian and Marcus Mulciber had always gotten along with Levi's father likely for this reason. Julian was the embodiment of radical Pureblood ideology which seemed to be becoming a rare trait, even amongst the elite.
"He's interested in having us raise our numbers through marriage." It was not a new concept to the Pureblood families: boosting their numbers had always been a primary goal - though it was becoming more and more difficult to do so without crossing family lines. Most Pureblood families were inextricably tied by marriage now. Julian's aunt, for example, was a Thorne. To him at only fourteen, however, marriage was nothing but a fleeting thought. If his father had been in his right mind, Julian was certain one might have already been arranged - but given his families' current position, it was unlikely anything had been put forward as a proposition and Julian was not about to mention the idea to his father.
He listened as Hilfiger mentioned Pureblood rarity, nodding once, "the Sacred 28 aren't even sacred anymore," he sighed tiredly before a thought occurred to him and he snapped his eyes back to Hilfiger, "Percy is looking for someone for you, isn't he?"
Levi was smiling as Julian asked for help, and that made Julian squirm a little uncomfortably, though he swallowed the discomfort forcibly - knowing that he was asking for a favour. It would not do to react aggressively. Julian hesitated when Hilfiger mentioned giving someone an extra ear the last time he attempted healing. Clearly his mothers' talents were not passed on through his genes. "Err, never mind the healing then, I am quite fond of my ears." The offensive magic, however, was a different story. "Offensive magic only, if you will." He would need to plan out a schedule for their training - and a place to do so. That shouldn't be too difficult, even if the grounds of Hogwarts were still quite new to Julian. He had spent enough time out wandering during nightly curfews to understand the ins and outs of the castle a bit more.
Their waiter brought the house soups and placed them on the table, little plumes of hot steam rising from both bowls in the cooler air. Julian got a whiff of the contents and his mouth began to salivate slightly. He had not eaten all day, and the soup smelled delicious. He hesitated, however, as the waiter was lingering at the table, clearly waiting to see if they wanted to order anything else. Julian glanced down at the menu that Hilfiger had requested to be left behind earlier. "I'll also have a steak and kidney pie, and a black coffee."

It was evident that Julian was not a fan of anything muggle related including the advancements and success of the muggle world. It only seemed fair that Levi respected his friend’s opinion on the muggle world. Whilst Levi did not agree with him entirely, he did agree that to an extent, the magical community was much better than being surrounded by the very same people that have to take a bus, drive or ride a subway train to get to places whilst the magical folk could just appetite at ease once skilled enough to overcome any form of Splinching. Perhaps this was one of the disadvantages of the magical world. When not skilled in something in the muggle world, you could just try again however in the magical world failing to complete a skill or a spell could result in some rather disastrous actions.
“ Whilst I concur on some valid points that you and my father do share.” He said thinking about how he did agree we were much more superior to a muggle. “ Their. Technological advancements have been on the uproar.” He was going to end the conversation about muggles here knowing just how much it would trigger the other if he were to continue bragging about the muggle community. “My father has a connection in the department of Mysteries.” He paused to take a look around if there was any listening ears “ Well, father told me that his connection had been working on developing muggle technology to work in our magical world. I personally think weirdly enough, this is insane. “ He would have used the word asinine however, he didn’t exactly know what it meant. “ Father of course, shared his opinion saying by doing so, we’re looking up to them and taking their ideas and using it as our own. “
he shrugged his shoulders whilst shaking his head unaware of who the famous wizard he was talking about. “ No I haven’t actually. What happened?” He could only assume that the person was doing something which resulted in a painful outcome. “ I don’t even think I’ll ever be able to produce one. “ He joked with a smile on his face.To channel a happy and powerful memory was a difficult eat. He had grown up with family moments but at the same time it was almost instantly tarnished as those happy family moments would always result in his father saying something along the lines of “and this is why we need to keep our bloodline safe. To continue this happiness Levi. “ He could almost hear his father’s voice in his mind when reiterating what his father had said.
“ The sacred 28 is long gone. “ He replied quickly knowing his father often said this too. “ Father always says it’s up to us to continue it. Yes Jules. He’s trying to find me a mate, a partner or whatever you want to call it. “ He had hoped his father wouldn’t consider sending him off to marry a long lost cousins hat was pureblood. The idea sounded far fetched but this is the same person that also bragged about how he would enjoy prancing the new. Muggle burns at work. “ I don’t think I’m ready for that y’know? “ he shared watching as the waiter made their way back with their order where he paused their conversation for a second.
“ I’ll add a steak on its own. Medium. “ He smiled back and hoped the waiter would quickly disappear after taking their order so he could continue their conversation. “ Offensive magic it is then. “ He added before giving an agreeable nod. “ Does your father talk to you about the same things as mine? Whilst I agree with some points, maybe I just don’t understand why there is such a radical push for blood purism. What’s your opinion on it? “
He shifted himself back to an up right position as he glanced at the waiter who was in the far distance and safe enough to be away from Julian. It was here when something dramatic occurred. A group of young adults made their way into the cafe handing out flyers promoting the use of magical kind working in the magical world. “ Julian. Don’t please. “ He quickly snapped knowing Julian wouldn’t welcome this intrusion lightly.

"Their technological advancements have been on the uproar," Hilfiger finished almost appreciatively, causing Julian to grimace. It was painfully obvious to anyone who spoke to Julian at any length that he hated Muggleborns and everything they stood for. To him and his family they were a blight on an otherwise wonderful magical world. The very presence of non-magical folk demonstrated an almost backwards evolution: they were like cavepeople, still fumbling around with the basics. Julian could not perceive whatever technological advancements could be enough to impress him.
"My father has a connection in the Department of Mysteries." Julian's ears perked up, and he honed in on Hilfiger as he spoke, his frown deepening, "your father is right," he responded darkly, "they want us to utilize Mudblood sloppy seconds?" He couldn't believe what he was hearing. The fact that he did not know about the Department of Mysteries was not something he was about to mention. Julian was not privy to the inner workings of the Ministry, and he was certainly not knowledgeable on their secrets. That was something he hoped to work on when he was older.
"You haven't?" Weird. His mother had told him the story at bedtime when he was very young, and it had somehow stuck with him. For some reason, Julian assumed most other wizards had similar upbringings - he didn't yet realize how wrong he was. "Raczidian was a Dark Wizard who lived in a castle amongst a large group of Dementors who he had under his control," he could almost hear his mothers voice as he read him the story of the heroic wizard and his battle against the unworthy town that lived alongside him. "He had garnered a peace with a nearby village of wizards and witches - the Dementors would not go there and in return, the townspeople would not venture near his castle... Except one day he spied a beautiful witch picking berries in his woods. He was so taken by her that he went into the village for the first time in years to ask her family for her hand in marriage-" Julian paused briefly, "for who wouldn't want the hand of a supremely powerful wizard who could control Dementors-? Anyway, her family refused. So in his rage Raczidian unleashed the Dementors onto the village, who attempted to repel them using Patronus', though they were weak and soon enough the Dementors sheer numbers began to overwhelm them." He then rolled his eyes, continuing, "one boy in the village, Illyius, an orphan of no real value, then produced the corporeal Patronus of a mouse that shone so brightly the Dementors were pushed back... Angered by the small Patronus being most powerful, Raczidian attempted to conjure a Patronus himself: thinking he could ward the small mouse off himself and continue the attack." Julian leaned back in his seat, sighing, "however, according to legend, when he tried to cast the Patronus charm, maggots shot out of his wand instead, and they devoured him." He finished, breathing out and shaking his head, "they say it was because he was unworthy of casting a charm of nobility - he broke the peace and was not pure of heart."
The tale reflected Julian's worry over attempting to produce a Patronus himself. Although just a story his mother told him before bedtime, the Dark Wizard Raczidian was very much a real wizard that was once feared for his power. Levi joked that he didn't think he would ever be able to conjure a corporeal Patronus and Julian tilted his head to the side slightly, observing him, but saying nothing. A comforting word was not something Julian could conjure, either.
"Yes Jules. He's trying to find me a mate..." Hilfiger stated rather dismissively. Julian grimaced at the idea, but was aware that it was something that Pureblood families did very early on. Hence why there was such a push to produce an heir - someone to carry on the family legacy and bloodline. "Well with that face he's going to be trying for a while," Julian remarked in a mirroring tone. Of course he was only prodding Hilfiger as brothers would do - Levi was actually rather handsome, and would likely have no trouble being matched with a pureblood wife.
Hilfiger ordered some more food as well, and Julian began to spoon at his hot soup, listening as the waiter's footsteps retreated away from the table once more, body going rigid as Levi asked about his father. Julian pulled away from his soup, leaning back once again to create physical distance between himself and Hilfiger. He was not comfortable speaking about his father, not even to someone he considered almost family. He crossed his arms defensively, hardly realising he was doing so. "No," he said in a clipped tone, "he doesn't." His father had not spoken much to Julian since his mother, of which Julian was almost grateful. Anything that came out of that man's mouth recently had been poison, and getting in his way had meant much worse. The Mulciber Manor had become a lonely place. "I wouldn't call it a push," Julian responded slowly, thinking, "blood purity has always been the end-goal of the Pureblood families, has it not? I believe there is something extraordinary about coming from a line of purity. Something about being untainted by the unworthy. To be born with magic is to be chosen for something far greater." Zealotic ideals were something Julian could recite in his sleep - after all, they had been shoved down his throat since he opened his eyes for the first time.
Julian had only just shaken off his discomfort with speaking about his father when he watched Levi's attention be taken by something else. He turned his head in the direction Hilfiger was looking, half-hearing the pleaded warning that came from the Ravenclaw's mouth as he spotted the group threading through the cafe tables, handing out flyers for something. Julian's body tensed as they approached their table, smiling widely. His hand twitched to his wand, but he hesitated, Levi's plea echoing at the forefront of his mind. One of the group began to hold a flyer out towards him, causing Julian's face to contort into a snarl, "you try to hand me anything you won't have hands anymore," the fact that they were close to him was causing Julian's nerves to go haywire. The smile dropped off the approaching young person's face, and they froze in their attempt to give Julian their advertisement.
[OOC: I am so sorry i'm leaving tomorrow on holiday for a month so these adventures will have to wait until my return! This thread has been super fun so far! I'll defs be back to continue!]

It was rare for Levi to share some view points with Julian especially when it came to the topic of non magical folk. It seemed Levi was still swerving between the two. He did have his doubts about non-magical folk but refused to use the more derogatory term in a public space. Perhaps Levi and Julian did share some view points in life but not to the extend of hatred that his family line let alone Julian's family line and in extension, Julian also shared.
" I personally think if we were to do anything like that then it would only make us look second to the non-magical folk. " Although he wasn't the patriotic type, he did prefer to think that the wizarding kind was much more superior compared to the non-magical. Though at the same time, he was almost hypocritical as some of topics he's discussed with Julian today he was pro and against some of the topics. " Personally, if I was in the Ministry and working as an unspeakable, I'd focus my work on how pureblood magic is much more potent and stronger than half bloods." This he gathered from seeing first hand how some students weren't able to cast a spell quickly or learn a spell as quickly as a pureblood would.
His eyes widened hearing the story Julian was saying. it was somewhat comforting and for a split second, he was able to witness a memory of his childhood. Sure, the two had been like brothers at a younger age but he had never seen a somewhat soft side to Julian. A sentimental side. Hearing how he spoke about this story made him wonder why his parents never told him bed time stories before sleeping. Perhaps they thought the nature of the story would of been too scary for the young Silver Haired boy. " Do you think you'd ever be able to conjure a patronus?" He asked as he waited for Julian to finish his story.
" My face?" He asked placing his hands on his face. " Oh is Juls trying to make a joke?" Julian wasn't exactly the type to show emotion let alone smile at well..... anything. Instead, Levi let out a small laugh on such a foul topic. " I wouldn't want to get well, 'matched' with anyone just yet. " Levi was not only young but in his prime of his teenager years. " I've just just the ideal body weight and my body has never looked better. " He added fuelling his own ego.
" Well how do you plan to expand the blood purity line or our blood purity line. " He wondered if Julian had any plans of his own or if he just had something planned for the future that he wasn't sharing. " There is something with our blood type and you see it with the students. We're able to cast magic let alone learn magic quickly while the half bloods and less struggle with magical concepts. " He again, agreed making reference to something he said previously. For once the two had agreed on something about the topic of blood purism which was quite rare for Levi. Perhaps there was a blood purist inside of him after all.
" I think it's time you leave." He said with a stern voice as he faced the person trying to hand out the flyer. He wasn't doing this for his own protection let alone for Julian but because he knew that if the person continued to hand over the flyer than the person named 'Flava' would soon have no hands. " Flava is it?" He said reading the name badge of the person. " It's best you leave. Quickly. " He didn't want a battle or a fight but he would stand by Julian because that's how loyal he was.
"We're here to share the good news and promoting the magical kind working in the muggle world. " Flava said as he persisted on handing the flyer toward Julian which he knew, would only end in bad news. " Julian don't." Levi said as he held the tip of his own wand. " Flava. Leave before you get hurt."
