We’ve all heard the stories of ghouls and ghosts. Of monsters, demons and other mysterious entities that go bump in the night. Whether those whispers were to keep misbehaving children from acting up or to convince ourselves there was something more than ourselves, they’ve always been there. Drawn together by their magical nature, supernatural beings have found pockets throughout the world, places of power, where they can exist in secret.
Nestled somewhere between the Atlantic coast and Carrowmore Lake, it is rumored there is a city built by magic that can’t be found by just anyone. Supposedly undetectable by the human eye and much larger than what its physical boundaries might suggest on a map, this enchanted city is known as Rathúil, but it’s not as impossible to get to as its legends claim. One would only need to follow the breadcrumbs or perhaps find someone both willing and capable of leading the way.
Welcome to Roots of Lore, a modern-day supernatural roleplay set in fictional magical city Rathuil, nestled in plain view in the western hills of County Mayo, Ireland. This site is a sandbox-style lore site allowing creatures of all varieties and mythological backgrounds to join.
We are a POC and LGBTQ+ friendly space focused on cultivating inclusivity and collaboration. Having opened in December of 2019, we’re dedicated to making this a long-lasting community and a safe space for all of our members.
