If you've read the Daily Prophet article or the Jobs Claim, then you'll see that we now have 7 Associate Professor positions at Hogwarts.
What does this mean?
They are like Junior Professors and are kind of mentored by the current and more experienced Professors. There are requirements, of course. Because they can't really be experienced professors who are better than the main professor, or old ones. It's about being a junior professor, essentially.
But how will lessons work?
That's up to you and the main professor to discuss. You could divide the lessons up, both post a lesson for each (hopefully not all at once - like maybe lesson 2 in January or something), or even just have one of you post the lessons. As long as there are lessons, we don't really care how you do it. But you must communicate with each other. Just PM or Discord or post in your plotters, whatever. You guys are partners in this so make sure to work together. <3
However, do note that they are actual professors. They aren't just an assistant. So you wouldn't be teaching in the same lesson as like a teacher's assistant or something and they wouldn't just be grading papers while the other professor does all of the teaching. They are both teaching. As for OOC-ly who posts the lessons, that's up to you guys. Just know IC wise that they both are teaching lessons.
What if the main professor is NPC (original or canon)?
For classes, it means you can do them all without discussing with them, of course.
For roleplaying, if they're canon, feel free to NPC roleplay them a bit as needed. As long as you're not making any major life changes to them, that's always fine. If they're original, then try to refrain from that, other than the typical things that would for sure happen, like that they are working together, they're being mentored by them, etc.
So pretty much, if they are a canon, you can include them in your posts. If they're an original, you can reference them, talk about them, etc., but not actually roleplay as them.
So what are the qualifications?
-- Under the age of 30
-- Less than 3 years of teaching experience
-- It is a 3 year contract just like all professors now
-- After the 3 years, if they haven't gotten a full position at Hogwarts and are 30+ years old, they'll be let go. It wouldn't make sense to have junior professors be like 40 with 15 years of experience or something. That probably won't happen unless you make like a 28 year old become a junior professor. It's recommended you make them between 20-25 because that would be more realistic. Anyone older would likely rather be a full professor at Rutherford or one of the other magical schools.
How do we sign up a current character to take this job?
Because this is clearly a highly sought after position (I know a lot of members who have said they wanted to teach at Hogwarts), we will not be accepting anyone who currently has a professor at Hogwarts to take this position until it is September IC time. Then it's open for everyone as long as the character qualifies.
To sign up, reply below with the form. Make sure to check what's available from the Job List.
This is just to make it fair for first come, first serve. Because if you PM a staff member, then it might not be fair if one you PMed is away for a day and someone else PMed a different person for the same position who was online at the time. So no one who PMs a staff member to get the position will be accepted. They will tell you to reply here instead.
Example: (This would have been Eliza's when she first applied to be a professor.)
((So with that, she would be qualified to teach Charms (Unspeakable), DADA (NEWT) or Flying (Quidditch career). Most characters will only have 1-2 qualifications, but extreme cases may have 3.))
You may only claim up to 4 O's in your NEWTs (and that is if they only took the bare minimum of classes, which is 5), though 2 or 3 would be more realistic at most. If you want 4 NEWTs, there must be proof on site that they are a genius, like mentioned in the application (you can't just edit it now to say that) or mentioned in roleplay.
Also, any qualification from a career must have proof as well - in the app or roleplayed. If it's their current career, we can clearly see that from their profile, so you don't have to link to anything. If it's a past one, it must be mentioned in the app or in a roleplay (from before the date this was posted).
