a few things
So there are a few things to talk about. Make sure to read this. It's super important and whether or not you read it, you're still accountable to follow it. <3
anti clique rule
So we've had an anti-clique rule for 2+ years now. Of course, that means not being cliquey and only roleplaying with a few people and ignoring everyone else. But of course, that's hard to really regulate if we don't have a number so it's been that you can't be roleplaying with more than 30% of your threads with any particular person if you have 10+ threads.
However, there were quite a few people who were breaking that rule as of a few days ago. And a lot of them only have about 10-12 threads, so I had to revisit it and see a better way to do it.
So now the rule has been changed that you can't have more than 50% of your threads with 3 people. So whoever are the 3 you roleplay with the most, your threads with them shouldn't be more than 50% of your total threads. This rule only applies if you have at least 3 threads with 3 people, but it applies anyway if you have 20+ threads in total.
So now the people who didn't have a lot of threads aren't breaking the rule by having 4 threads with 1 person and 2 with 4 people, like happened to a few with the old rule.
Please note that we do have 25+ members (usually hovers around 25-35) and there's no reason most of your threads should be with only 10% of the members.
Since the rule only just changed recently, we won't be issuing official warnings yet, but will be doing so in about 2 weeks. So now is the time to start roleplaying with some other people more if you feel this might be you. Also, if you think it might be and want to know for sure, feel free to PM me to see if it is.
It says it in the rules, but the whole reason for this is that we are an inclusive roleplay for all. We don't want anyone to feel left out and there's no reason that this should happen. And as it says in the rules, if you only want to roleplay with a few people and ignore everyone else, this isn't the site for you. I know once you've been on a site for a little while, you can get tight with certain people, OOC-ly and IC-ly too, but that's how cliques are formed. And it's the sort of thing you might not even realize you're a part of until it's too late. So just keep having lots of threads with lots of people and everyone will be fine. (:
plotter rp ad or wanted ad?
I think there's a bit of confusion of the difference between Plotters, Roleplay Advertisements and Wanted Characters. I see a lot of threads in the wrong place and that even caused a lot of confusion in a character application and we had to pend someone because we couldn't find the Wanted Ad since it wasn't even in that board at all.
PLOTTING
This isn't just for 'plotters' for all your characters. But also if you want to discuss a certain plot. It is for discussion. If you aren't requesting a thread or character, any other character discussion should go here.
ROLEPLAY ADVERTISEMENT
This is for requesting a thread. If you have a thread here, this means that you have the intention to thread. If you want plots, it doesn't go here. If you want a new character for a thread or plot, it doesn't go here. Only requesting to thread.
WANTED CHARACTERS
This is where you request a character. Not anywhere else.
GENERAL (OOC)
If there's something that can't fit anywhere else, you should post it here! Like if you want an opinion on a new character face or name, etc.
c-box
Kind of related too. Make sure that everyone feels included in the c-box conversation and are able to jump in and discuss with everyone else. It hasn't been so bad lately but in the past 6 months, it's had spurts of coming and going where it has seemed cliquey (even guests have complained that they didn't feel comfortable asking a question there, which is absolutely not what TB is about!).
When it comes down to it, it really is the difference between character discussion and character gushing. The former is normal discussing of characters, where anyone could really come in and say an opinion and join the conversation. But character gushing is when you freak out about a certain plot, relationship, character or thread to the point where anyone who isn't part of it feels left out and either feels uncomfortable to join the conversation or might even be ignored if they try. You can always say to someone "Hey, I'm really excited about our thread!" But if the discussion of the excitement or fangirling or whatever you want to call it goes on for quite a few messages, just think about how a guest or another member who's not in that plot/thread would be able to fit into the conversation. If it goes on for more than a few messages, you should bring it to PM or even your plotters.
I know that no one would do that with the intention of isolating everyone else out of the conversation, but it's important to know the other side of it because it has happened and since I'm sure no one would do it on purpose with ill intent, there's no way to fix it if we're not aware.
Again, it's not really happening so much lately, but since it happened, then didn't, then happened for a while again, and now isn't, I think it's important that we're all aware so it won't again. (:
