We didn't have a character limit before, but we feel that it would be rather helpful to have one now. Therefore, we are enacting a limit of 15 characters. We feel that this is a good amount as it's rather hard to consistently be active with more than 15 and devote the amount of time needed to really develop them through roleplaying. Of course, some have more than 15 characters currently and they obviously won't have to delete any. (: But that also means that they can't make any more. There is the possibility of getting permission to extend your personal limit to 20, but that may only be approved by me (PM me if you wish to obtain this) and you must be very active in order to get it. <3
More details about this is in the Rules.
And to summarize, all of the character restrictions we have are:
-- 15 character maximum -- Must be actively roleplaying with at least half your characters in the past two weeks to make a new one. -- Only up to 2 characters in the same year of schooling per player.
Off topic, but a random shout out that you get Sickles for participating in clubs, as well as nifty buttons. =D Plus, it's a lot of fun. (: If you guys have any suggestions on how to make club meetings more fun or interactive, feel free to PM your club leader or even sign up to be one if it's available. (:

Not here because that would be super discouraging if people got Dislikes for their posts? =x Anyway, it's 15 because it's halfway between 10 and 20. 10 would be far too small of a number and 20 is a bit too big - most people can't handle actively threading over 20 characters at once. But the odd time people can be crazy active and be able to do it, which is why 20 is able to be an exception on a case by case basis. (:
A lot of people have an OCD of having an even number, such as Meows and myself. You have to think about those people who irk about it being uneven...and it causes stress in real life even though this is just a site that people roleplay on. I can understand Meows' concern about it not being even. Even makes the world better for us. 15 makes us cringe and upset. It would be better even.
I am the most upset right now, that If I get rid of a character I don't want, I am punished with an uneven, number Which will kill my muse. and end up making me leave, for stupid reason. All because the thought of an uneven number drives me to the insanities of my mind. I will pay you Jess, all my sickles that Neville has, to let me replace Winifred. I don't want to TB but if it comes to that I will. This whole limit thing has done nothing but stress out my muse, since this was posted. I can't think straight. I really don't get why you think this is helpful. Its really not. Even more so if its gonna drive away long time members.
I get the uneven number thing. Maybe 14? I agree with a character limit though. People have been creating characters when they owe 10+ posts to threads.
Then those people should get punished for it. Not everyone else. It isn't fair. I mean, I only have 5 (6th is awaiting approval). I get that we have to post. But sometimes we don't have muse for a certain character and if we don't have muse for it at that moment, we shouldn't have to be forced to post with it. It doesn't mean we won't post with the said character or characters.
No, you should not be forced to post with a character that you have no muse for. However, rather than creating a new character every time this happens, I believe the whole purpose of this is to make you find ways to regain your muse. Making a new character every time you lose muse does not make any sense at all. Ask yourself why you lost muse for the character. And then ask yourself if you could handle them being gone. If that doesn't bring back your muse, then you shouldn't be making a new character to begin with.
When you don't really have half your characters active and you make a new character anyway, you're starting to resemble a hoarder. Hoarding is extremely unhealthy in ever form. Some people have a ton of characters that they only post when they either want a new one or have an AC to pass. If somebody with just two characters wants to make a third and keeps coming across faces being taken but only posted once every three months it's very frustrating to those too. I personally think it's good that there is a limit and if 15 makes you uncomfortable, just have your own personal limit being 14. Or ask E to make a rule that people with OCD have a maximum of 14. I don't see why those without OCD should be forced to have one character less simply because a few people hate uneven numbers. I personally love multiples of 5 so there, I like 15 and it's a nice number for me.
Plus, if it really bugs you that much there's the option of being hyperactive and being allowed five more which brings you back to an even number!
I'm not trying to disrespect or bring down OCD as something stupid but it doesn't actually give you any privileges in real life or on here. As for deleting chars rather than replacing them: Just wait until you have a second one you want to dump and delete them in pairs. Who knows, your muse might just come back to you unexpectedly while you're waiting to find a second one that doesn't make the cut. If you delete them it's sure not to happen.
These rules are made for a reason, not because all those with 15+ chars are super active and posting all the time. I know I'm not always properly active on my 19, which is why I'm slowly bringing it down. If I can't make 20, I don't have the problem of making characters on a whim, which really is better for everybody in the end if you ask me.
Just my ten cents in this dual attack against a new rule.
Make her a ghost? You'll have the char in a completely new way so it might even give you muse. Plus, it's not a new char so you keep the even nimbers. If you don't like it you delete her with somebody else.

Seph pretty much said everything. <3 And yes, Marsi, I totally get that you might not have muse for characters sometimes, which is why we have the rule of making new ones where you only have to be actively threading with half your current characters. It could easily be 3/4 or even all of them, but it's half because I totally understand that you don't have muse for all of them all of the time. <3
