Augustine was founded in 1671. It is located on an island off the coast of Australia. Specifically, it is located in the middle of the Coral Sea. The island is unchartable. It only looks like more water to any muggles. If muggles approach, the tides will steer their course elsewhere. To muggle sailors, it's just one of the mysteries of the seas (just like the Bermuda Triangle, except far less deadly).
To get to the school, one must board the ship from Brisbane. To anyone looking at it from the outside, it looks like a large, dirty fishing boat. On the inside, it appears to be closer to a cruise ship. There are cabins and a dining area. And just like many magical devices, it is larger on the inside - enough to fit 500 people comfortably. Unfortunately due to the spell on the exterior of the ship, the passengers are required to stay inside at all times, but it is comfortable enough for them during the 17 hr trip. The boat leaves at 5pm and arrives in Augustine at 10am. Classes start the following day (January 4th), giving the students a bit of time to get settled in.
The entire island belongs to and is a part of Augustine. At its largest part, it is 3km wide from end to end. The docks are at the south-west part of the island. Beaches surround the entirety of the island and are explorable by the students at all times during the day. Most of the rest of the island is covered by forest, except for the sections that have been cut away for buildings scattered throughout the island. Wide paths exist between each of the buildings for safe travel.
The main building in the direct middle of the island is called Augustine Castle, though it doesn't look like the castles of Europe. It is made of mud bricks and a grass roof and just like the other buildings, does not have multiple floors. However, even with the primative materials the castle is built out of, it is still quite elegant and grandeous inside. There are also many magical protections on it for stability. Augustine Castle has the staffs' offices and quartres as well as the Dining Hall.
The three next largest castles are Aphra (Wizarding Literature, History of Magic, Muggle Studies), Florian (Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Ancient Runes) and Silvanus (Care of Magical Creatures, Potions, Basic Healing, Arithmancy, Divination, Astronomy).
Herbology is held in the greenhouses, which are closest to Silvanus Castle.
Flying is held from the main clearing in the forest, which is also a popular spot for students when they don't have classes. Many watch the flying lessons for entertainment.
There are extravagent gardens near Augustine Castle, also a popular place for staff and students alike, with many benches and beautiful plants and flowers. Sometimes the advanced Herbology classes are charged with taking care of them.
The dormitories are located in six buildings scattered throughout the forest. Each building houses one year of students. The girls are on the left side of the building, while the boys are on the right. There are four bathrooms - two for the girls and two for the boys - and a common area for everyone to mingle. Students from other years are allowed to be in the common area, but an enchantment prevents them from entering the dormitories of another year. However, other than a lock on the door, that is the only enchantment against entering the dormitories.
