There's something that has been bothering me lately. Not just here, but nearly everywhere. Everyone wants to write the longest post they can, but everyone has lost what it was like to just have fun when you're roleplaying. Honestly, guys -- There's nothing wrong with 1-2 paragraph posts. We're here to have fun, right? So let's do exactly that. (:
{I'm not being against longer posts, but I'm just trying to revive the magic that is Harry Potter and hopefully other sites will do the same. =D Let's get wrapped up in that Harry Potter magic again. (:}

Well I really mean that people seem to be losing the MAGIC of Harry Potter, you know? And the fun of just roleplaying back and forth and not waiting for days.. you know? <3

true, I replyed to a thread, and I'm STILL waiting for the author, its like the only thread in Ireland, which sucks, since that's Seamus's birth country

I've noticed that too. I don't think the length really matters as long as you a) Give the person (or people) you are roleplaying with something to respond to, and b) Are having fun while doing it!
Honestly, I can go back and forth from one paragraph to several paragraphs depending on how inspired I feel. The most important thing, however, is that I enjoy doing it and get into it.
Amen, I just tried to join a site, but they were grammar nazi's and spelling nazi's, I just want to rp and have fun =D not worry about every little grammar error and spelling error. I do my best =D
I aim to try and match the person I'm rping with's length but I can't stand to read more the five paragraphs =\ It just is too much. I have nothing against people who like to do that though to each their own.
Yes, I miss the joy of just having fun at rping. Luckily, I have Mandee's site. It still has the magic of roleplaying mostly. Sometimes with long lengthy posts, I can't get creative, it takes longer to post back. *Sighs*
I love writing, and have been writing for years now. Writing lengthy things is just my style -- I like developing my writing. I don't aim to make really big posts, I just type and when I get my point across and maybe add extra things in there, I press send. I have fun RPing. I don't try to seem super sophisticated if, by chance, I type several paragraphs... that's just who I am. I also don't ask for people to match me if I do write several paragraphs, because - as you've said above - that can be rather frustrating. Sometimes I have muse, and sometimes I don't. That's just me.
i agree , i hate when a site try and makes you jack out alot. i can write that much. i only can write about 2 -3 paragraphs , four if it just comes out. the spelling grammer nazi are a pain too , im not good at that , i just wanna have and rp , not be paraniod if my spellings , grammer are write.
i dont care how much people right personally . as long as they give me something to work with so i can think of a reply to. but i dont think its nesscary to write more than four paragraphs. it takes to long to read.
May I step in and say that role playing isn't just about loving to write, but loving to read?
The fun is in the details. Sure, it's not fun when you are dictated to write a certain amount of words, but you shouldn't be against long posts. You should appreciate the written word, especially if you are on one of these sites; that's what this is all about.
...with the grammar part, I can understand some mistakes...but there is a spellchecker program...it's not hard to use. No one is going to mock you because of a little error here(this is about fun), but if you don't use proper grammar and spelling, it becomes a habit that hiders you down the road. It's best to get in the habit now.Trust me, no one respects the forty year old who can't spell and doesn't know where to put a comma.
Thank you Lills. Grammar isn't a difficult concept, and proper spelling and punctuation really make your posts easier to read for the obsessive compulsive among us. That might not be a high priority for all of you, but good grammar makes you seem more intelligent and people take you much more seriously. And detail isn't the enemy, you don't need to feel obligated but you shouldn't hate people who include more detail.
I love reading elegantly long posts. Except for the ones that are like five huge chunks of words forty lines long .-. I don't think that much detail needs to be put into one situation, heh..
But yeah, I read this, took it into consideration, and posted something a little smaller today. =P
