Exhaustion was one way to describe just how Calvin felt coming off the plane after some what 32 hours flying between multiple countries in the world just to get back to Australia. It was a long journey but it was definitely necessary and what was required for him to not only pack up his life and do the same journey back but also because he brought home a girl who he pictured to be the perfect partner. With the aircraft finally landing into Sydney and the Flight Attendants disembarking the passengers, Calvin felt a sense of relief as he took the first step out of the tin can and back on Australian soil.
Being July, it was in the winter season and for some odd reason, despite being a chilly morning, the sun was up and burning brightly in the sky. A welcoming sight yet he knew that it had been sunny the last few days so this meant that the rain was coming very shortly. Processing through Australian immigration was interesting as he had to hide the fact he was a wizard and the complications of this and using the confundus charm often meant for a speedy processing. After some 20 minutes in processing, both he and Desiree finally managed to make it out of the airport.
"Welcome to Sydney, Australia Desiree." He said as he felt the first breeze of Australian air hit him in the face. The cold wind with the aroma of the Eucalyptus leaves in the air was welcoming. " It's not a long journey from here. I do have my driver's licence but I took the train to the airport last time so we'll take the train home." He stated to Desiree who he smiled at once again. Reaching out his hand, he waited for Desiree to hold onto it before taking her, his bags and her bags toward the train station.

Desiree did not enjoy flying. She had never traveled outside of Europe before, and so had never taken one of the muggle tin cans in the sky, being able to use other modes of transportation up until then. Unfortunately Australia was much too far to fly by broomstick, or to apparate, and could not be reached by train or floo. Her only other option would have been a portkey, but there was no way the government would arrange such a thing just for her and her… um… well, at this point, Desiree was not sure what to call Calvin. Her friend? Her friend with whom she was going on a date? They had not really discussed it yet, and with all honesty, Desiree was not sure if she was even ready for such a discussion yet.
Despite this, she was quite happy to have Calvin with her on the flights. She had been quite miserable during the whole ordeal. Her ears kept popping, her hair went frizzy, her skin felt dry as the sahara, and on top of all that she was exhausted. 32 hours either in the air or in an airport was not a fun trip, but luckily Calvin was there to keep her entertained, and he seemed much more comfortable with the muggle transportation system. She figured he must have used it quite frequently, considering how far Australia was from any other country.
He’d helped her set up the screen at her seat so she could watch some muggle movies, at least giving her a distraction from her discomfort for most of the trip. The rest of the time she had either slept, or sketched in her sketchpad. She wanted to be prepared for the Rutherford fashion program starting in what felt like only a matter of weeks, and so was trying to nail down a few solid designs. Although she had only done so while Calvin was asleep. She hated for anyone to see her work before it was perfected.
When they finally landed at their destination, Desiree could have kissed the ground. She was already dreading the return trip after her visit, but she did not want to think about that at the moment. She followed Calvin through customs in a slight daze, unsure if it was due to being cooped up in the plane for so long, or simply the jetlag hitting her. Luckily, a quick confundus charm helped speed up the process, and finally they were stepping out into the fresh air.
Desiree was not really an outdoorsy person, but after that trip, being outside felt so nice. She took a deep breath and smiled as Calvin welcomed her to his home. It was colder than she had anticipated, but luckily she had come prepared for all kinds of climate. While her luggage appeared relatively small, just the size of a normal carry-on suitcase, the inside had been magically enlarged to fit most of her wardrobe. After all, she needed to be prepared for anything Calvin had in store for her.
Unfortunately it seemed their travels were not yet over, but at least the train was a method of transportation Desiree was much more accustomed to. She nodded and took his hand, letting him guide her to their next method of transportation. “You drive? A muggle vehicle?” She asked, keeping up pace with him. She did not know many wizards with a drivers’ license, and so was surprised. It seemed wizards in Australia were much more proficient with muggle technology than their European counterparts.

Seeeing Desiree’s reaction to Australia was both magical and hilarious all at the same time. The former Beauxbatons graduate who was once a beacon of beauty looked like she had gone through a very strong Ventus charm. It was somewhat hilarious to see the pinnacle of beauty look more like a scarecrow on the fashion show. Of course, he knew never to voice his thoughts or make it apparent he found the situation rather hilarious.
” Well doesn’t someone look fresh. “ He said with a genuine smile on his face as he did his best to try and hide and hold back what he actually wanted to say. “ I know it was a long journey but I promise it’ll be worth it. “ He said as he helped Desiree and her luggage onto the train. After spending sometime in a magical place, it almost felt weird to have to manually do everything once again without the use of magic. Didn’t help either that most of the public in Australia caught the train and it was speak hour.
“ Ooh take that seat. “ He said as he pushed and shoved through the crowds of people on the public train as they finally managed to seat themselves on the soft cushion of the train in Sydney. “ So our trains use a tap on and tap off system. I tapped you on its this card. “ He handed over a card that was plastic with a couple of numbers on it and a visible chip through the invisible plastic.
“ The non-magics use this whenever they use public transport. One stop shop for all your transport needs.” He added before looking outside and watched as they went stop to stop before arriving into their destination. Calvin lived in the perfect area. It was a mixture of farm land and urban living but the beauty of it all, was that it was a registered area where they could use magic.
“ Through here.” He said as he made their way to an abandoned looking house with broken windows, a broken door and graffiti plastered all over the walls along with a police line saying “ DO not enter “. He looked over at Desiree before smiling. “ Yeah sorry I must of dazed out. “ He said finally acknowledging what she had said earlier before falling asleep on the train. “ So we can drive here at 16. It helps when we have to go to other Non-Magicical places. “ Considering they had spent close to an hour on the train which could have been cut down to 20 minutes if they had decided to drive.
The two made their way through the abandoned house when they stopped to find a doorway into darkness. “ Trust me, you’re safe. “ He said as he gestured Desiree to follow him. The darkened archway suddenly gleamed with light as he walked through revealing the magical community he lived in which was hustling and bustling with life and a few stores.
“ Welcome to Glenn Valley.” He said as he smiled and waved his wand so that he could finally levitate the bags to follow just behind them.

Desiree scowled a bit at Calvin’s comment about her fresh appearance, almost certain that it was sarcasm. She knew she was probably looking worse for wear at that moment, but as they were in the presence of muggles, she was not at liberty to use magic to clean herself up. That would have to wait until they arrived at their destination, unfortunately. She sure hoped he would keep his promise about it all being worth the trip, particularly as they were then crammed onto a busy train filled with more muggles. Luckily it was not as warm as she had expected it to be, so the trip was bearable.
Taking the card Calvin handed to her, she examined it, eyebrows scrunched together. “The muggles use this? Is it used to open the doors, so as to prevent others from entering?” The concept of this flat piece of plastic being used to enter a form of transportation was odd to her, and she simply could not fathom how it even worked. A thought suddenly occurred to her as she remembered her muggle studies class. “Or is it like those cards that hold their money? What were those called… um… dibit cards?” Her eyes moved back up to meet Calvin’s, searching for confirmation as to her suspicions, or further explanations about the muggle technology. Desiree had grown up a bit sheltered from the muggle world, but she could admit she did find it curious how the non magical population functioned without the use of magic. She simply could not imagine it.
Finally arriving at their stop, Desiree was grateful to almost be done with all the travel, looking forward to flopping in a bed and getting some much needed sleep. That is until she saw the building towards which they were walking. Had she been wrong to trust Calvin? Surely he was not luring her into some trap? She knew wizards occasionally used such facades to deter muggles from approaching magical areas, but that did not mean she wasn’t slightly worried, particularly considering she was in a foreign country. Despite this, she followed along, smiling as Calvin reassured her. They may not have known each other that long, but she did trust him.
She was just about to ask him another question about his driving abilities when they walked through the archway and a whole magical community was revealed. Desiree took a deep breath of relief. Finally, she was somewhere comfortable. She could feel the buzz of magic in the air, and after the hellish last 33 hours or so of travel, it felt like home. Knowing she was finally safe to do so, she took out her wand and waved it above her head, fixing her hair into a nice high ponytail with few loose strands framing her face. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt much nicer than the frizzy mess it was before. “This is where you grew up?” She asked, following his lead through the village.

There was always something so innocent sounding about Desiree’s voice and actions that just made Calvin fall even deeper interested in her. It was probably her innocence around the Muggle world which others could say was quite snobbish. He , unfortunately, had to travel through certain parts of the Muggle world to get where the magic people lived.
“Dibit.” He repeated back as a small laugh escaped his mouth unintentionally of course. Calvin loved her accent and loved the idea of being around someone that spoke like that. In comparison, it was exactly how he felt whenever he would speak at Firenze. “ So we can use these cards that can be loaded with non-magics money for transportation use.” He later explained. “ Oh, might be a nice to know. “ He said as he paused for a second/ “ We use the term Non-Magics to describe Muggles or Nomaj’s as the Yanks call them. “ He wondered if the French had a word to describe them.
As Calvin led the way, he pointed out multiple things that I got be of interest to her. “ All your skin stuff through that store and all cafe’s down this lane, and all the banks down there. “ He paused yet again before looking over to Desiree watching her tie her hair up. “ Yes, I grew up here. It’s somewhat a divided culture in some sense. “ He said as he pointed his finger to three different lanes of housing.
The left hand lane was filled of large houses with large yards, house elves working on the gardens, the middle were apartment complexes and nothing too fancy about them. The one on the far right was single story houses with broken and worn out painting that was peeling on some of the run down houses. “ You see, Blood purity plays an important role here. I’m a pureblood, so the Kleins live in the left hand lane and that’s also where we will be staying. The middle are the purely half bloods and breeds and the last lane is the muggle borns or creatures living here. We call them the impures. “
“ We do use Non-Magics currency as it’s easier for everyone but don’t worry too much about that just yet. I’ve got you covered. “ He shrugged his shoulders as he looked down the three paths. “ The far right is only allowed to be around the muggle borns and creatures also known as the impures. The half bloods and breeds can be in the half breeds and impures and we as pure bloods, can go anywhere at any time. We also share the same shopping district and town centre. It’s the only place we can mix around but living conditions are strictly seperate so they say but everyone just turns a blind eye. “
“Any other questions or you good for now?” He asked before leading the way to the large house at the end of the pureblood street. He wondered if Desiree found the living conditions in AUstralia different compared to other parts of the world. It was almost as if blood purity was something you had to be born into rather than married into.

Compared to her hometown of Paris, the village seemed so cute and quaint as they walked through the town square, Calvin pointing out some of the various stores. Desiree couldn’t imagine growing up without the excitement of the city, but it was definitely a nice location for a vacation. Its innocence quickly evaporated, however, when Calvin pointed out the different living situations. Three roads, three very different neighborhoods. Her nose scrunched a bit at the sight of the muggleborn housing, dilapidated homes in need of some serious TLC. She was definitely no stranger to class differences, herself being a part of the upper, and obviously superior, class. However, she was not used to such discrepancies due to blood status.
While her family was high in power, reputation, and wealth, blood purity had never been much of a concern. She would never consider dating or Merlin forbid marrying a muggleborn, but that was more so due to their limited status within the wizarding community. She had never realized that certain countries still operated in such segregated societies, as it was not so much the case in Europe. There were of course always some prejudices, but for the most part it was considered taboo to voice such ideologies out loud.
Desiree wasn’t quite sure what to say, simply following behind Calvin and listening to him describe the divisions between the three groups. The last part caused her to pause just short of the pureblood street, anxiety taking hold of her body. He said “we” when referring to purebloods. He did not know. While she was of a reputable family, she was not in fact pureblood. She debated whether she should tell him. She was terrified of any repercussions if it came out that she was half-blood after the fact, but she was also worried how Calvin would react if he found out she was not pureblood. Blood status was obviously very important to him. Would he reject her if she were to tell him? She didn’t know if she could take that kind of rejection.
Staring at the halfbloods road in a daze, she was snapped back to the present by Calvin’s question, quickly turning back to look at him with a forced smile. “Non, no more questions,” she replied, deciding to keep her blood status to herself. Regardless of how it would affect their relationship, she was stuck in this country for the next few weeks, and she did not know anybody else. The idea of losing her current accommodations was enough for her to keep her mouth closed for the time being. That, and her current exhaustion. After she’d gotten some proper sleep, she would formulate a better plan, but now was not the time.

Desiree's sudden silence was a little concerning. He clenched his jaw slightly making his prominent jawline protrude just that little bit stronger. " You okay?" He asked as he tried to look Desiree in the eye. Perhaps all the talk about the blood purity status made her uncomfortable. Australia had really strict guidelines about magical law and blood status. Which was also one of the reasons why he found Firenze so liberating.
He started to wonder if he had overwhelmed her. He could only assume that she too was jetlagged considering Calvin felt the onsets of the jet lag come rolling into his body like a ton of weights and bricks had been placed on his shoulder. " Why don't we get some rest?" He said as he waved his hand in the air causing their bags to once again levitate and follow them as he began walking down the lane filled with the luxury houses.
"I know you have fine taste." He said proudly as he began trekking it up the hill at the crest of the pureblood lane more commonly known as Goldenrod Lane. "Mine's the property at the top of the crest of Goldenrod Lane. " He said as he pointed at the large mansion up the road in front of them. " You don't mind the walk do you?" He asked as he looked back and wondered why Desiree was so quiet.
It was only during his open conversation about blood purity when Desiree to what appeared to be withdraw herself. " Desiree?" He said suddenly coming to a stop as a thought popped into his head. "You are pureblood right?" He finally asked almost in a joking matter considering he knew that Desiree was a pureblood at least so he thought.

Obviously Desiree had not done a good enough job hiding her momentary discomfort, as Calvin’s body language tensed and he asked if she was okay. “I am fine,” she reassured him with a tight smile, reaching out to grab his hand, in the hopes the physical touch would further convince him. “Just a bit tired from the airplane.” It wasn’t a lie, at least, and might have contributed a bit to her heightened state of anxiety. She nodded in agreement as he suggested they go get some rest, walking hand in hand with him up the mansion filled lane.
She smiled a bit more genuinely at his comment on her taste level, glad he had picked up on her refined tastes. While their blood status was different, they definitely seemed to have grown up in similar social classes, which reassured Desiree. Surely her family’s reputation would be much more important than some ancestral blood mixing. Both her parents were wizards after all, so it’s not like she had direct muggleborn lineage.
Following Calvin’s pointed finger, she laid eyes on his family home for the first time. It was beautiful. She wondered if the fact that his family was at the top of the road had any significance in terms of their standing within the community. “It is okay, I do not mind,” she responded to his question about the walk, although she was getting quite tired. While she was only wearing 2 inch heels, they were not the most conducive to climbing a slope. Not that she had much choice it seemed, as she did not see any other way to reach the house.
About half way up their trek, Calvin suddenly paused, causing Desiree to stop as well as he called her name. That’s when he asked the question she’d been dreading. Her eyes widened for a moment in fear. Should she tell him, or should she lie? She slipped her hand out of his and tucked one of the loose strands of hair behind her ear as she tried to figure out her plan. She could easily tell him what he wanted to hear, and obviously what he expected by his jovial tone, but would he be upset if he found out the truth later on? She opened her mouth, ready to simply smile and say of course, as if it was a ridiculous question, but she couldn’t.
Fear gripped her whole body as she closed her mouth and shook her head no, avoiding meeting his eyes. “Non, I am not,” she admitted in a whisper, worried somebody else would overhear. If the town was as segregated as he led her to believe, she was concerned there would be repercussions if anybody else knew her blood status. “Blood purity is not a concern back home. Perhaps it was in the past, but nobody really cares about that anymore,” she tried to explain, hoping Calvin would be more sympathetic. At the very least she hoped he would let her stay one night so she could make other arrangements, if he were about to kick her out due to her less than adequate blood line.

“ I’m fine.” He repeated smiling in a cheeky manner before locking eyes with Desiree. “ The global line for something’s wrong but you gotta find out what it is. “ He had previous relationships in the past and during those times, if his partner at the time said that it meant that there was something wrong but it was not his job to try and figure out what it was. It was like playing charades but with no end.
“ Yeah it was a long flight wasn’t it?” He replied noticing just how long the two had been restless considering their flight time, the lack of sleep and the fact they were in a whole new time zone which also included weather changes too.. Luckily, Australia was boasting quite a spectacular day today.
Pausing at the top of the hill, Calvin looked over to Desiree as his heart sank at what was just said. “ You’re what?” He wasn’t sure if he heard what he actually heard. He had always assumed Desiree was a pureblood. His heart started to beat a little faster finally understanding what Desiree had just said.
She was always going to be safe none the less because well, Calvin hailed from the Klein family which had a rich history of being one of the first wizarding families to migrate to Australia from Germany. “ Hmm. I see. “ He finally responded before looking at the Desiree as a smile followed through.
Calvin had proudly spoke before of his interest to blood purism and the fact that he had hailed from Goldenrod lane. He, like many others before him in the Klein family had relationships with people who were not only pureblood but also half blood. Whilst the living regime of Australia wasn’t for the faintest of hearts especially if they were a muggle born, on the rare instance, the blood purity levels could be ignored.
Calvin, in this moment had to decide whether to send Desiree back or to continue o his journey for love. Was he to somewhat betray those that held a pureblood line before him or was he to continue on for the sake of his love? His family would disapprove initially but given he was considering moving to another country to continue his studies, perhaps they wouldn’t mind?
“ Hold my hand. “ He said with the same devilishly handsome smile that he had when he first met Desiree for today he decided to choose love but for all other aspects, he would hail proudly from his pureblood roots.

The silence between them seemed to stretch on forever as Desiree’s thoughts went wild, considering every possible outcome.
It seemed Desiree was not as good at hiding her emotions as she thought she was, since Calvin caught on right away that something was bothering her. It also didn’t take him very long to pinpoint the issue and bring it to the surface. His initial response to her blood status revelation was not exactly what she wanted to hear, although it wasn’t the worst case scenario either. She could barely make eye contact with Calvin, only glancing up every so often to gauge his reaction.
“Hmm, I see…”
What did that mean? Desiree’s mind was going crazy as she waited for him to react one way or another. Was he truly about to reject her due to a bit of blood mixing in her family’s past? The idea caused enough pain for her to prepare for the worst. She could feel her eyes sting, the telltale sign of oncoming tears. She hated being vulnerable, and so immediately prepared herself to attack, rechanneling her fear and grief into anger.
How dare he reject her, a Fontaine, due to blood status? She was born from a marriage between the Renard and the Fontaine families, two of the oldest and most prestigious wizarding families in France. Blood status was insignificant. What truly mattered was social status and power. If he were to throw her away over some distant ancestor of hers he was a fool, and he didn’t deserve her anyway. His family was probably-
Her thoughts were cut short as he spoke once more, causing her eyes to snap up to meet his. Mouth slightly agape in surprise, Desiree searched his eyes for the answer she was hoping for, glancing down at his outstretched hand. Was it… okay? His smile caused butterflies to flutter in her stomach, reminding her of their first meeting at Firenze. She tentatively reached out and took his hand, only then letting herself smile as well. She wasn’t sure what was going to happen between them, and if this would have any impact on their relationship moving forward, but for now it felt right, and she let him lead her the rest of the way into his family home.

” Stop staring and grab my hand. “ He uttered before finally feeling the arm to of her soft hands in his. “ I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. “ He said pausing for a split second as his eyes went from gazing into her eyes and pausing at her chest for a few more seconds than welcomed before finally moving down to her hand. “ You have really soft hands. “
The bags still levitating behind them, Calvin guided Desiree back to his not so modest mansion he lived in at the top of the hill. “ Whatever happens. Don’t let go. “ He said smiling softly at her as his eyes scanned behind him to locate the eyes that were smiling back at him. “I’ll look after you. “ He said again echoing his thoughts before that despite proudly hailing from a pure blood line, he was able to look past it for Desiree’s sake. That and because he is Calvin Klein. The most affable yet surprisingly wealthy heir to the Klein family.
“ That there is Norman Griffin the third. His family created the flying hover carts. “ He said as he pointed to a person catering to their garden alongside the house elves that worked along side him. “ The ones that carry things for you. Sure, it would have been easy to just do a levitation charm but us Aussies get impressed really quickly. “ He gave Norman a little nod before pointing to the house just next to his.
“ That one there belongs to my cousin. He’s serves in the Australian Political Party. “ He then pointed to the big large mansion that stood atop of the hill. “ That one there, is ours. “ He said as he placed his wand against the fence which then shimmered in a silver light before slowly opening up before them. “ My father invented that charm. The gates only unlock when specific wands touch the gates. “
The gates opened up to a large lawn with a drive way that split in the middle and a fountain placed between them. “ FREDRICK!” He called out as a small pop in the air welcomed the head house elf who was dressed in a cute little suit rather than the raggedy look commonly found with house elves. “ Please take these bags to the third floor. Bring them to my quarters.” He asked giving the house elf a nod before smiling and looking over to Desiree.
“ All of our house elves are here by choice. We pay them with things from the non magic world considering they can’t technically walkthrough there inconspicuously. They have their own quarters on the first floor where they enjoy and relax too. “ Despite hailing from a pureblood line, his family also did somewhat have a heart considering the people and house elves they hired seemed to be well fed and nourished.
“ This is the lobby area. “ He pushed open the golden double doors that revealed the lobby area adorned with gold furniture and stained glass windows on either side with the echoing sound of classical music playing in the background. “Jacob? Jacob are you working today? “ He asked as another pop in the air welcomed another house elf. “ Please get us two cups of mango juice and one small plate of cheese and biscuits. “
“ Come take a seat. Let’s take a little break for now. “

Desiree nodded at his request not to let go, feeling a flush of warmth as Calvin reassured her that he would look after her. While she was usually fiercely independent, in such unfamiliar surroundings she appreciated the sentiment, finding herself holding onto his hand just a bit tighter, completely oblivious to his previously roving eyes.
She smiled politely to his neighbor as they walked by, listening to Calvin list out their accomplishments, her mind constantly searching for some form of threat. However, what she found was a community very similar to her own. While the Australians placed more emphasis on blood purity, their pureblood families were also simply more accomplished, hence their well deserved upper status. Desiree could respect that, and found herself relaxing more and more.
“I suppose only members with pure Klein blood would be allowed to open the gates?” Desiree asked, more out of curiosity than anything. It reminded her slightly of the cave at Beauxbatons, although to enter that one she literally had to use a drop of her own blood. More and more she realized that their communities were not all too different. Both exclusive, just in their own ways.
She was even more surprised by their treatment of house elves. “And they choose to remain employed? Even when they could be free?” Desiree had heard of some families hiring free elves, but was always surprised by the concept. She did not understand why they would remain as servants if they had the choice otherwise. Her family treated their house elves well enough, but they were not free by any means. They were essentially possessions, owned by the family in perpetuity.
Finally entering the grand house, Desiree was impressed. It was a bit over the top for her tastes, with the gold furniture overstating their wealth, but it did indicate a level of affluence and power that she respected. Considering Calvin’s personality, she was somewhat surprised, although also quite relieved, he hailed from such a high brow family. He didn’t quite exude the air of superiority she noticed from other upper class heirs, and so she had not realized quite how prosperous his family was. If anything it only made him more attractive in her eyes.
Desiree was more than happy to get off her feet for a moment, following Calvin’s lead and taking a seat in a large sitting room off the main lobby. This room was a bit more understated, which she appreciated. The furniture still had gold accents, but mixed with plush white leather. Desiree almost sighed in happiness as she sank into one of the couches. She had been on her feet, or stuck in an uncomfortable airplane seat, for much too long. In comparison, this felt like laying on a cloud, and she was almost tempted to lay down and take a nap right there.
Of course that was not proper, so instead she sat up straight like a respectable lady. The house elf was not long with their food, and she nodded in thanks as they placed down a tray laden with various cheeses and biscuits, as well as two large cups of juice. Her stomach decided in that moment to betray her and growl loudly at the sight of food. Her cheeks flushed bright pink as she grabbed herself a biscuit. She hadn’t even realized how hungry she was, but it was true she hadn’t eaten in quite a while. The airplane food had not been quite up to her standards, and so she had merely picked at the disgusting slop. Hoping to distract from her brief embarrassment, she turned in her seat to better face Calvin. “What plans do you have for us during this trip?” She asked, hoping to get a better idea of what to expect from her visit.

Calvin wasn’t exactly the brightest student in the class but he did know more than the average student. Calvin’s skill set were more tailored to the hustling and bustling streets of Sydney Australia. He was more street smart than intellectually smart tough his instructors at St.Augustine would say different. His results in schooling were exceptional beyond belief considering he struggled paying attention yet his brain was wired in a particular way he was able to remember everything that was said.
However, when Desiree asked the question about blood purity and wands he simply had no justified answer. “ Well you see,” He began replying holding back his cheeky smile. “ It’s really quite simple as my father once explained. “ He then looked over to Desiree before shrugging his shoulders “ I just don’t know. “ He let out a small laugh before looking back at Desiree. “ Something to do with Wand Lore or something like that. “
His whole family shared the same type of exotic wand core. A rare type at that too. “ The Kleins all have African Mermaid Hair cores. Another unique thing about them is that if you try to hold it, it shocks you. Only I can hold my wand. “ It often made for a very good prank as anyone that tried to use any African Mermaid Hair wand would get shocked.
Inside, the two were enjoying the cheese and biscuits and refreshments when Calvin paused to hear what Desiree had asked.” Well, I actually have a lot for us to do. “ A lot of things popped into his mind and he wanted to start straight out of Sydney. There was a lot to do alone in Sydney in terms of touristy things however he also wanted to ensure the two of them got ample amounts of rest.
“ Rest is my top priority. “ He responded taking a small sip of juice to wash down whatever was in his mouth. “ So let’s rest for now and aye tomorrow we can do some stuff, I’ll drive us around. “ He said smiling again boasting the fact he was able to drive albeit it be a provisional licence in Australia.” I just have a legal driving curfew of 9PM. “ He also wanted to take some time to go over a few customs here in Australia that may shockDesiree or any other tourist here.
“ We can use my bedroom. The bedroom is large enough for…. “ He winked an eye and smiled in a cheeky anger. “ Other physical activities. “ He raised an eyebrow and licked his lips. Slightly. Not in a seductive way but because he had cheese crumbs all over his face and lips.

Desiree found the information about the Klein wands quite fascinating, having never heard of such a wand core, or such a unique defense mechanism for one’s wand. She would have been interested in learning more about it, and how it was connected to the enchantments on their gate, however it seemed Calvin was not the person to ask about such a subject. She made a note to ask his father if she were to meet him during this trip.
The prospect of possibly meeting Calvin’s parents so soon into their relationship - if she could call it that since they had yet to make anything official - was a bit daunting. However, she was sure she could win them over. She was Desiree Fontaine after all, who could resist her charms?
His family was definitely in the same class as her own, judging by their lavish home, so she knew her class and elegance were sure to impress. It was such social etiquette that kept her from devouring the cheese and biscuits on the platter, despite her hunger, instead choosing to slowly eat, making sure to remain neat and proper as she did so.
That was why the sight of Calvin gobbling up his food, only stopping to answer her questions, caused her to almost laugh. At least he had the decency not to talk with his mouth full. She nodded as he described, rather vaguely, their plans. She was excited for some rest, particularly after all their travel, but would have enjoyed hearing more about what else he planned to do.
Unfortunately it seemed she got exactly the answer she was hoping for, although not in the way she had expected, when he mentioned the sleeping arrangements, causing her to choke a bit on her last bite of cheese and biscuits. Eyes wide, she grabbed her glass of mango juice, partly to wash down the food, and partly to give herself something to do as she pondered how to respond.
“We will be sharing your bedroom?” She asked, her voice cracking a bit as she spoke, although she would just blame it on her choking. She cleared her throat a bit before continuing. “I am sure you must have many guest rooms in this home, non? There is not enough space for us to each have our own rooms?” She tried to keep her tone light and jovial, as if she was teasing him, although deep down she was a bit nervous. She could not deny she was attracted to Calvin, or the warmth that spread through her body at the thought of what he was implying. Just his wink was enough to send a tingle down her spine. But it simply wasn’t proper, and this time her brain was winning the fight between heart and head.

Calvin had managed to finish his snack and was dusting off the crumbs off his face when another house elf appeared to take away his empties. “ Ahh, Smiley, so good to see you again. “ He greeted the house elf with a high five before watching the house elf pick up their empty plates and cups. “ We call this one Smiley cos he’s always smiling. “ He then watched as the elf disappeared into nothingness along with him the cups and plates they had used. “ No one really knows his real name, he doesn’t really like to share personal information but we respect that. “ He further explained before focusing back on Desiree.
“ We have 6 guest rooms here. “ He replied to Desiree in between her comments. “ Sometimes on really hot days, we allow the house elves to relax in one of the guest rooms so they’re not over worked. “ He said indicating that the Klein’s really did take care of he house elves that lived with them and worked for them. “ They may be less than us but we still have to look after them. “ He whispered hoping not to offend any of the house elves.
“ You don’t wand to share rooms with me? “ Calvin asked with a sad tone to his voice before looking down slightly. “ I wanted us to share a room for other physical activity. “ He repeated again as he stood up. “ Come I’ll show you what I mean. “ He said as he winked an eye and began walking up the golden stair case that led to the second floor. He walked for what seemed like ages before reaching another set of spiral stairs adorned with a variety of family portraits. “ This stair case is dedicated to every heir the Klein family had ever had. “ Magical portraits that were capable of sharing wisdom but of course, some of them had to cat call Desiree as he walked up. “ Shush you lot before I put a blanket over the lot of yah. “ He exclaimed as he reached the last two portraits at the top of the stairs.
“ Two blank spaces. “ He said without explaining much but pointing to the two labels just underneath them. The names of Calvin’s father and of course Calvin were there. “ Right now, Dad is the heir but after him, I’ll be next. “ He explained before finally reaching the third level and one of the largest. “ My rooms here…” He said as he reached the door with the golden arch. “ Second masters bedroom. Only slightly smaller to my dad’s.” He explained as he tapped his wand on the door as the door opened using the same magic that the entrance gates did.
“ So this is the lobby area, to the left is the first bathroom, next to that is my games room, on the right is the master bedroom and inside of it is a bathroom and walk in wardrobe as well as a pool, spa and jacuzzi. “ He explained as he began walking to the room next to his. “ This one here is my study room. Use it as you will. It also has a duelling dummy in there if you wanna use it. “ He said before walking back to his room.
“ This is where we do our… extra physical activities. Come I’ll show you. “ He said as he opened the door to reveal a large bedroom adorned with gold furniture, comfy mattresses and chairs as well as a story bed to which he sat on.He then stood up and walked over to a red door that had a padlock on it. “ This is where the fun is….” He whispered toward desire before winking an eye. “ I mean we can do the physical activity in the bedroom but I prefer a seperate room dedicated to it. “
He pulled out a key and unlocked the door rather than using magic. The padlock unlocked but only after he turned the handle to reveal a dark room. “ Don’t worry, “ He said trying to reassure Desiree. “ I won’t bite.” He walked into the darkroom and looked for the light switch which slowly illuminated the room in a blind light light.
Mirrors were the first thing anyone would see as soon as they opened the door followed by the windows where the curtains began to open electronically. “ This is my gym area. We can work out here. “ He said as he smiled and look proud of the training tools in front of him. “ There’s also a pool here if you wanna swim too.” He offered pointing to one of the doorways.
