from the canon images we have on vampires, they're similar to nonhuman looking, extremely pale to literal white colorless skin, aswell as hairless heads with exagerrated fangs, for instance. I know this fact has not been a thing in this sites lore due to the movie portrayal of Sanguini, most likely, which looked considerably more human than any other vampire info we got in canon, and the fact it would be much easier to portray them like this..
My question however, is if it may be possible to portray a vampire the exagerrated, nonhuman looking way of archetypical nosferatu in fiction, or perhaps just extremely nonhuman pale, in the case of this artpiece of lestat de lioncourt from the vampire chronicles?
perhaps this would work most fitting if those nonhuman looking vampires would be considered 'sasabonsam' instead, a minor canon vampiric being that's only briefly mentioned. This may explain how there have been ordinary human looking vampires being played all this time already, and how there would be suddenly be vampires that would look less human, to degrees as being simply unnaturally pale to the degree of looking like nosferatu?
the other question would follow up the latter, as it's the question if we may use art for nonhuman creatures? The PB rules say they must be a person, but how does this work for the nonhuman creatures such as house elves, merrows, arcomantulas centaurs and the like? I'd suppose those could use art, as it's been said they are playable, though it would contradict that rule, I'd suppose?
hi, i got an account now, though just to reply on this, next to the nosferatu, and lestat de lioncourt ideas, i'd also really like to play a sasabonsam/vampire with art inspired by nuada, from hellboy.

So a few things.
Our canon on vampires here is different because we've been around since before the last book came out and before all of the extra things Rowling has revealed since. So we had to do some guess work and set it over a decade ago. We can't suddenly change how a species is because that woukd bring way too many inconsistencies to established characters who have been here for years.
However, the Sasabonsam are a different creature that we definitely can accept here. I can't see any mention of them being undead, just similar to vampires in the blood thing. So theres no reason to assume they can't procreate. So you could even make a half if thats correct. Im just on my phone here so ill have to look into it properly later.
We still can't accept art, however. We have had ghosts, house elves, centaur, lethifold, vampires and probably more Im forgetting. No spiders but there are a lot of acromantula photos in the movies and regular spiders too. I mean I did NPC one once but I didnt use a photo or graphic at all. Weve had a Hugh Jackman centaur too, which wasnt too hard in Photoshop. We have lots of designers here to help too. (:
I hope i covered it all. Time to journey home now so itll be like 2 hrs.
thank you for the reply! I'd be apping him as soon as you'd caught up on their lore, as you said you were gonna look at it after getting home, so just to be certain if there may be any comments you would have on be creating this sasabonsam (though, the way i plan to play them is they would, in reality, be undead, if that's alright since that isn't mentioned, if not i'd be okay with them being longlived and just feeding on blood, instead!!

Still mobile and 40% into my 14 hr day.
Ok I've decided and will officially add later but here's a brief thing.
Yes undead No procreation or half Cannot do magic Can do daylight a bit but less than vampires (half the time it says for vamps) Yes pale (though more likely to be poc, but not exclusively, but poc can be pale ofc) From Ghana Tree dwelling normally (so naturally limber and dexterity just from natural evolution and traits built from environment over generations*) Can turn people the same way as vamps (significant blood exchange then death) but are way more likely to kill
