Leo had finally gotten used to walking to the classrooms he'd taken for first and second year. Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, all of the classes were easy for him to find now. Of course, that didn't include the new elective classes he was taking. It helped to have good friends like Roxanne to get lost with.
"Isn't it weird to be back? I mean, I guess it always feels kind of weird, but it's extra weird now because it's changed a little." Leo tried to summarize how he was feeling about the start of the new school year, but it was difficult. Their class of third years, who had always been together, was now spread across different electives. How was he even supposed to deal with that information? The familiar voices he had grown used to would no longer be in all his classes.
He walked up the staircase with Roxanne, a bit lost in thought. He hoped that the Wizarding Literature Professor wasn't too mean, or else they might lose house points for being late, and at the beginning of the year Leo didn't want to embarrass himself too much. He still had to look cool for all the new first years, not to mention that losing house points would make him look bad to all the older students.

"Yeah, it is kinda weird," Roxanne said as she walked up the stairs with Leo. "I mean, Hogwarts is the same, but it's strange to not have all of our classes together anymore. I guess we should have picked our electives together!" Of course, they probably had different ideas in what they wanted to do with their lives, so that wouldn't really work very well. Roxanne loved hanging out with her friends, but she wasn't about to jeopardize her future for it.
"Oh, wait!" Roxanne pulled Leo back by his arm, hoping she didn't hurt him too much. They were going a different route so things were not quite the same. "There's a trick step there. Sometimes it turns to quicksand." At least there wasn't a real danger because it didn't pull in anyone's whole body. But your foot usually got stuck in there for a bit and you either needed a friend to pull you out or to reach to the railing to pull yourself out.
