Winnie was rather pleased with the turnout for this charity ball. After all, regardless who gave funds, they were still funds given to help out an orphanage, which I think everyone could consider a good cause. Not only did she get to don a fancy frock, she also got to catch up with some comrades she hadn't seen in a while, either from Hogwarts or Order days. Everyone and everything was so different these days. Or maybe it was her? Had she been the one who changed drastically enough to make it seem like everyone's life stories were alien? Or perhaps... she had done something drastic for a long enough period of time that everyone else just moved on without her. She couldn't figure out the answer to that, and she felt a twinge of bittersweet nostalgia for all these feelings, not able to place her finger on one exact instance that provoked these thoughts and feelings.

In any case, while things were getting on at the ball, the swirl of people around her, the champagne kicking in, she was starting to heat up in her full length velvet dress and cape, and she needed a respite from the social event. Luckily, a crisp breeze wasn't too hard to find.

Winnie left the party momentarily to clear her head and ground herself. Winter might be the odd man out season in other places in the world, but here in the UK, it was beautiful. She quite liked it a lot. And while she wasn't necessarily dressed for an extended period of time outside, she would certainly allow herself a little bit of cool winter air and peace and quiet before returning once more to the festivities.

She strode outside, and closed her eyes as she was braced by the chilly winter air. That hit the spot. She walked far away from the ten that the noise and murmurs dimmed. It was dark out, but the sky was that bright bluish grey hue from the cloud coverage of winter skies. Now if only the stars could come out. She thought fondly in reference to Van Gogh's Starry Night tableau she had the privilege to see in person years back.

Getting lost in thought, she almost didn't notice that there was someone else who was nearby. She glanced in their direction, initially not planning on socializing while out here, but those piercing yet kind bluish-grey eyes that matched the bluish-grey sky belonged to no one but one. She smirked and said, "I didn't take you for a 'charity ball' sort of guy, Furguson." Of course, if it wasn't Kenton, that would probably be embarrassing, but she could swallow that and move on with her life. But even though she was on a people break out here, she was really quite hoping that it was him.
