Next term is the Dodecawizard Tournament at Augustine, which is located off the coast of Australia.
If you are new to the site, here's the run down on what a Dodecawizard Tournament is:
It's like the Triwizard Tournament but between six schools and they have 2 Champions from each, so that means 12 Champions in total. After the Triwizard Tournament of 1994, it was determined that it was Voldemort and the Death Eaters that led to Cedric Diggory's death, not the nature of the Tournament itself, so the Tournament was allowed to continue. But they thought that the competition between Harry and Cedric throughout the year was a healthy one that was good to have within one's school and not only with the other schools. So that's why they decided to do 2 Champions from each school. They also lowered the age to 16 as of October 31st (the night the Goblet of Fire chooses the Champions). So that means all sixth and seventh years are eligible for sure and some fifth years if their birthday is between September 1st - October 31st.
The six participating schools are:
Hogwarts, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, Firenze (Italy), Salem*(USA) and Augustine (Australia).
* We have had Salem on the site for many years - far more than Ilvermorny has existed. We can't very well just delete a school that's existed so many characters here for so long and we aren't added two in one country when the world is so much bigger than that and we already have enough wizarding schools on TB.
When will the students arrive?
They're just going to arrive on September first in Augustine instead of going to Hogwarts for a month first because it's so far away so it'll take a bit to get there.
How do the years go at Augustine?
At Augustine, the years go from January - December. So those who are attending from other schools will be tagging onto the end of the term. Classes will be difficult because Augustine has only six years and people will be of very different ages learning together because of the late starting age for Augustine. More will be detailed in the sign-ups thread, but in general, people are going to take the year below them for September-December and then do the next normal year of schooling for the remainder of the year.
What happens when the year changes at Augustine?
All Augustine students will go up a year. Sixth years will graduate, which is why they aren't allowed to enter the Tournament. The rest of the students will remain in their year until the end of their normal school term, which is June for the rest of the schools.
When do they leave Augustine?
At the beginning of June. They should arrive at their regular schools with a few weeks left of the term to review with their professors where they should be, academically, and to prepare for exams.
Have any questions? Feel free to ask them here.
