march news
There are some updates for the future events on here as well as
of the month awards
Congratulations to all of the winners this month! Last month's winners weren't eligible to win, if anyone was wondering why there were quite a few members missing. And remember to post in the Character Roster if you want to get nominated for Member OTM. (:
Alyssa has been with us for a few months now and even though she only has a couple of characters, she is quite active with them and a friendly face in the c-box and around the site. Congrats, Alyssa!
Eliza won by doing 8x her requirements for the month (which was 75), doing over 600 staff things in February.
Windy has been with us for a while and is always eager to roleplay with lots of members and in the mass threads as well. It's a joy to read all of her posts. Congrats, Windy!
Isabelle is one of Jami's characters she has had for a while and she surely has gone through a lot on here. It's great to see where her character is going. Congrats, Jami!
Joe is also a familiar face and his student, Marcus, has been great to see around the site, whether in the Dueling Tournament or in his individual threads. Congrats, Joe!
We have quite a few promising new members, but Lexa took the cake! And she also gets this award too. She has quite a few interesting characters and it'll be exciting to see what she does with them. Congrats, Lexa!
pokemon
Pokemon is our current OOC event - not having anything to do with your characters. It's a fun way to collect some Pokemon if you're interested and there are a LOT of awards up for grabs after the event is over. It will continue until the end of March.
future events
Just a head's up on this!
We are going to be having another event in a few weeks, which will be in character. I have mentioned it a couple of years ago, but I couldn't get it to really work well, but then the other day I figured it out, so... a long time coming, Hogwarts will be having a skills testing event! This won't be the same as a Dodeca or Triwizard Tournament. EVERYONE CAN PARTICIPATE (who is a student at Hogwarts, of course). It'll kind of be like a Track and Field day, if you ever had that at your school growing up. Different events your character can sign up for. The whole day will be devoted to it (it will be on a weekend to not disrupt classes). Your student can test their skills and compete to win trophies for both magical and athletic events.
But why am I announcing this early? Well, this will happen in a couple of weeks, but your student will have the chance to do better at certain events if they train for it first. So when there are sign-ups, you can post links to your character practicing one of the skills, which means that you have the time to start that right now. (: Just roleplay your character practicing one of the skills for the tournament and then they'll get bonus points for that event (the points will all be explained when it goes up in a couple of weeks - all you need to know right now is you'll do better if your character practices in roleplay first).
Some of the events will be: Archery, Running, Flying, Quidditch, Potions, Charms, Dueling, Transfiguration, Ancient Runes.
And don't forget, next term is the Dodecawizard Tournament! (Real time = approximately August.) Participating schools and location is still undecided. But for those who are new - it was decided that having two Champions from the same school was good for healthy competition and they decided for 6 schools to compete - which means there are 12 Champions overall. Also, the age has been lowered to 16 (as of October 31st), which means some fifth years can participate if they have an early birthday (September - October) and all sixth and seventh years can.
