Welcome to TB, an all levels Harry Potter roleplay with no word count. Our purpose is to go through the books with one exception: the addition of original characters and what changes that makes.
We accept all beings and creatures in the Harry Potter verse including ghosts, veela, muggles and even centaur.
We have many active events ongoing for both students and adults and many characters and locations around the world.
Come join us and discover how your character can grow and evolve in the world of Harry Potter.

I'll calculate some things for the first question, so give me a few minutes. Though most are 18-30.
And every 2 weeks, it's a new month. So it's pretty much double time. This is so we can see our characters grow up and develop through their experiences a little quicker than real time. (: But if you have a thread, say, set in April right now and it moves to May, you don't have to stop the thread. You can keep going, just knowing that it was in April and that new threads would come after it. Though that generally is how it is when roleplaying, I think, anyway.
EDIT: Wow, it did not tell me Sarah responded, oops, lol. I'll go do those calculations, though, 'cause I am curious myself. We do have the adults' birth years in the List of Adults in Character Info.
Cool, thanks, guys! Yeah, the slightly fudged time is something I'm used to The last site I was at didn't really have a timeline, they played in IC weeks which changed whenever everyone was ready for that week to finish which was too slow for me so I'm happy that this is faster-paced!

Woo, glad you like the time. (: Not everyone does. Sometimes we slow down certain months when it's the Triwizard Tournament just because Goblet of Fire, First Task and Yule Ball are all so close together. But not by much. And on that note, we changed the Triwizard to being Dodecawizard with 6 schools, 2 Champions from each. But you don't have to participate in that - there's still other things that go on when we have that every 5 years (next: 2009).
Speaking of schools, are all these schools JKR canon? I recognised some of the names but not all of them! And what's the difference in sending a character to one school over another? I'm assuming the majority of students are at Hogwarts?

Most of them aren't canon. They are in our site credits, but I made up Firenze yearssss ago, and then also made up Dahshur and half of Augustine and other members made up the details of Salem and Augustine, Xanadu and Selveira. Our only canon ones are Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. We aren't going to be having the new American one, though, since we already have Salem and we also have a lot of schools, lol.
Right now, we're 100% Hogwarts, which is the first time, probably since 2006 or something, lol. But next term when we do have the Dodeca, there will be a lot from other schools. I believe it'll be held at Durmstrang too.
Right now, I'd probably suggest making an alumni from those schools if you want to do something with them, as otherwise there wouldn't be many to interact with. But next next term there will be (so like approximately July real time).
Thanks! Are there other info-threads like that which I could find helpful? (Sorry if all of this stuff is complied somewhere in which case just send me there, like a FAQ?)

We don't have a FAQ, but most of the information can be found in the Registration board when it comes to claims, sign-ups, anything to do with making a character, so abilities/species, etc.

With Gringotts you basically get paid for doing stuff around the site. Mostly, it's posting. You get I think two sickles for each post you make, and you can get extra for things like threads reaching a certain amount of posts, filling graphic requests, entering contests, plotting with new people...There's tons of ways basically. You can then use that money to buy things like books or clothes to put in your character's Gringotts page, a house in a certain board, or a special title for your profile. I personally like to hoard mine like a dragon, because on very rare occasions we have something special come up that you can use your money on. Like, recently, we had an auction to celebrate the anniversary where the highest bidder won different prizes.
Thank you- I had gleaned as much from the Gringotts page, I guess what I was more wondering is how necessary is it to spend sickles on things? I saw there were clothes and wands and cauldrons for sale? What about pets? And does this mean that if I want my character to have these things in a post I have to spend sickles to get them?

you do not have to spend the Sickles to say your character has those things. Although for brooms most people do. But when it comes to the clothes, most people say there character is wearing a dress or so on, and link to a picture of that dress. Now if you want to spend your Sickles on those things in the board it is perfectly fine. But not necessary.
Okay, so like school supplies should be purchased with sickles but things like the stuff that goes around apartments or on people doesn't have to be? Which reminds me I also saw a housing link at Gringotts? It seems like to determine where a character lives/what kind of house they have is done through sickles. So with an adult character I would pick a job and then determine from there what sort of housing listed at Gringotts they could afford based on the Sickle/year salary they have? And it's all IC years? Sorry! I've never been at a site with a money system before so I'm a little confused right now haha
If you still have questions though feel free to ask! From what i know you get your school supplies when you create an account, it will show exactly who has what. You can look at mine here!
if you do want to get a house and have enough sickles (which you gain by posting and such.. here is the link to the sign up for an inventory!
hope this helps a little!
