OWL & NEWT SIGN-UPS
This is where you can sign up your students to take their OWLs or NEWTs. This thread is for all schools (including Rutherford). Your threads will be posted in your respective school, however.
Reminder that OWLs are optional, but fun to do and you can get buttons and House Points for doing so.
NEWTs are mandatory for certain jobs. Click here for more details.
NEW! This year will be a little bit different. Instead of having to do all of the classes you're signed up for (but you still can if you want), you can do less and then request a grade for the rest of your classes.
If you complete 3 OWLs/NEWTs, you can request the results of up to 2 classes.
If you complete 5 OWLs/NEWTs, you can request the results of the rest of your classes.
** Please note that this is per character. So you can't do 5 and then request results for all the rest of your characters. **
HOW DOES REQUESTING WORK?
Well, firstly, it's requesting, which means that you are not guaranteed the mark. If you request all O's, you definitely won't be getting that. I would highly suggest you complete the OWLs/NEWTs that you really want good grades on and then request the rest.
Reminder: You can only take OWLs & NEWTs for classes you're signed up for. If you don't go to Hogwarts, don't worry about this as you didn't have a class sign-up thread this year.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
-- Anyone who completes OWLs/NEWTs and writes their character doing everything perfectly will not get all O's. Most likely, you'll get a lot of E's.
-- If you have roleplayed in the past that a certain subject is your character's best subject (whether in a class thread or talking to another student), feel free to include that in your OWL/NEWT.
-- No one is great at everything and even those who are highly intelligent can suck at certain classes (ex. they're not good at hands on, so they're bad at Herbology, or are purely all logic and can't understand Divination, etc.). By having at least a couple of bad exams, for the ones you do write that your character is very good at, you will have a better chance of obtaining the O. Also, it's more fun and entertaining. (:
