Other schools have an eighth year built into their curriculum, but not Hogwarts. However, there is a brand new program coming to Hogwarts for those just graduating or needing to upgrade.
In the wizarding world, there is no university. You graduate, most people travel for a year to discover and learn more things if they wish, or settle down into a job right away. Usually they learn on the job what they already didn't know from Hogwarts. However, they also require certain grades, well, NEWTs, from your seventh year in order to be employed. This was true in the books and so it is now true on TB. (: The list is here. <3
But what happens when you don't get those grades? Or if you change your mind of what you want to do when you're already in your seventh year? Are you doomed to be a bartender forever? Have no fear because there is a new program at Hogwarts where you can return a year in order to take the courses you need for your dream job. (:
At the end of the term, there will be the following threads:
-- Exams
-- Job Sign-Up (acceptance based on grades in classes during the term)
-- Seventh Year Plus Sign-Ups (if you want to do an extra year to get the marks to get a job that requires them)
This mostly will happen next term, but if your character just graduated and you don't have a job for them yet, then you may PM me and I'll put you as 'seventh year +'.
What does Seventh Year + really entail?
-- You will be in the classes with the seventh years.
-- In the lists, you will be under the seventh years (but with a + sign beside your name).
-- You should be diligent in posting in lessons more than once. You can also use it as an opportunity to plot and thread with multiple people at once - a great way to get your character interacting with others very quickly. (:
What other changes will there be?
As per the title suggests, there are a few other changes to Hogwarts this year. Prior to now, we have had Mandatory Classes (1-7) and Elective Classes (3-7). Now there is the addition of NEWT Classes (6-7). They are more advanced classes only available to sixth and seventh years.
We have also added new classes:
Advanced Flying (Elective)
Basic Healing (Elective)
Alchemy (NEWT)
