WANDS
This may be a lot to take in, but it's a lot of information that was collected last year when we had the Wand Shop open and made wands for members. Most of the information was taken from Pottermore, so you can probably find it there too, but it did take a while to collect it all together. <3
Anyway, there are a few things to take into consideration when creating your wand.
LENGTH IS NOT HEIGHT!
It pertains to how strong their personality/character is. So pretty much, if they are a very well written character, it would be a longer one. If their character lacks something, it would be a shorter wand. Ex. Voldemort (14", I think) & Hagrid (16") had very long wands, but Umbridge (8.5") had a very, very short one. Lengths would be between 8" - 16". But most ones would be around 10" - 12".
WAND CORES
Ollivander revolutionized the art of wand making. Before, people would bring a core of an animal they liked and the wandmaker would make it into a wand for them. But then Ollivander said no to that and only got those three cores (Dragon Heartstring, Phoenix Feather & Unicorn Hair) and matched them with different types of wood and different firmness. So if your character is English and goes to Ollivander, they will need to have one of those core types. However, if they travel across the world to get their wand somewhere else, you may choose a different core for your wand.
WAND WOOD
There are a lot of options for this, so make sure to read about each of them and see where your character fits. Some are different also depending on the Core that goes with it.
