“Kakashi! Obito! Rin!” A girl with short black hair, pale skin, and dark blue (almost black) eyes. She was waving at the two genin, the chunin (almost jounin) and the jounin that was team Yodamae. “Kara!” The boy with black hair and orange gooles shouted, waving back at the girl. When the girl caught up with the team she leavened over, placing her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath. “I can’t believe you guys! Going on a mission with out telling me! When I heard that you guys were leaving from Father I cam running.” Kara explained, straightening up and hugging the other girl, Rin. Kara looked over at the silver haired shinobi, Kakashi. “Congratulations on the promotion.” Kara said, hugging Kakashi. After Kara was done talking to Kakashi and Rin she went to talk to her cousin. “Obito, you return from this mission and I’ll make you some of my famous spinach balls with rice stuffing and mizu soup, just for you!” She said happily. “You would have made all of that for me any ways! If I asked nicely enough, right?” Obito joked. “Of course!” Kara replied laughing. All of a sudden she got serious again. “No, but really, you’ll come back right?” “Why wouldn’t I?” Obito asked. “You could get killed!” Kara yelled at her older cousin. “Don’t worry; I’ll come home to you…Kara.” Obito replied, pulling Kara into a hug. “You promise?” Kara asked, starting to cry. “I promise.” Obito replied, kissing Kara. Kara pulled away and wiped her eyes. She watched as the team walked away from her, their backs disappearing into the distance, but they were blurry because no matter how many times Kara wiped her eyes, they wouldn’t stop crying… Two days later Kara walked into the Konoha Hospital. “I’m here to see Kakashi Hatake.” Kara stated, walking up to the front desk. “Yes, go down the hall, first left, second right, first right, and then he should be in room three o’ four.” The receptionist replied. Kara nodded and took the basket she had brought with her down to room three o’ four. “Hey there!” Kara said happily, walking into the room and sitting down on Kakashi’s bed. In the chair next to the bed was Rin, who looked as if she had been crying. “Oh! Hey Kara!” Rin said, overly happy and as if she was expecting some one else…either that or Kara was the last person Rin wanted to see. “I brought some spinach balls with rice stuffing for every one!” Kara said, ignoring the fact that Rin was a little depressed. Kara turned to hand Kakashi his, and when she did she dropped the plate. “Kakashi, what happened to your eye?” Kara asked. “I lost it in the battle.” Kakashi replied calmly. “Hey, where’s my cousin?” Kara asked suddenly. Rin and Kakashi shared a glance, but they didn’t answer. “Kakashi, where is my cousin?!” Kara demanded from Kakashi. When Kakashi didn’t answer, Kara looked over at Rin. “Rin?” Kara asked pathetically. “Kara, Obito didn’t make it.” Rin replied quietly. “What do you mean, didn’t make it?” Kara asked. “Obito is…dead.” Kakashi said suddenly. Kara stared at Kakashi what was like the end of a tunnel and Kara was moving back wards. All of a sudden Kara passed out on Kakashi’s bed.
Kara woke with a start. Her face had been completely drenched in sweat and her breathing was heavy. Kara threw back the covers and put her feet into a pair of crimson slippers. She shuffled across the room to the door. As Kara opened the door her best friend, Kakashi Hatake, walked out of his bedroom. “Kara are you okay?” Kakashi asked through his navy blue mask. Kara looked at Kakashi and nodded before opening the door all the way and stepping towards Kakashi. Kakashi took notice that Kara was crying silently. “Obito.” Kara whispered softly, taking notice that Kakashi tensed up. Kara stumbled forwards a little ways and fell into Kakashi’s open arms. Kakashi caught Kara as she fell and sighed. “Nightmares of Obito again?” Kakashi asked, walking with Kara back into the room she would use when staying the night at Kakashi’s. Kara nodded her head against his shoulder. Kakashi sighed and said, “All right. Go back to bed Kara. Obito is gone. He won’t be coming back.” “I know Kakashi, that’s the problem.” Kara mumbled as Kakashi pushed her down on the bed. “After I asked, begged, pleaded…Obito still went on that dumb mission. Then I made him promise that he would return, but…he never did. He went and got himself killed!” Kara started crying, harder this time. “Damn him! Damn him to hell!” “Kara, I don’t exactly believe that Obito wanted to get killed.” Kakashi replied. “But he still promised.” Kara replied feebly. “He scarified himself to protect me.” Kakashi said. “I don’t care! He shouldn’t have saved you!” Kara yelled at Kakashi. “I could have been killed! Don’t you care if I had died?” Kakashi asked. “Not as much as Obito…” Kara replied. “Why?” Kakashi asked. “Because, Obito was my Uchiha.” Kara mumbled. “Your Uchiha? Care to elaborate on that?” Kakashi asked. “When Uchiha girls reach the age of thirteen they are given a pure Uchiha male that they are to marry by the time they are twenty-four. The girls secretly call them ‘Our Uchiha’ or ‘Your Uchiha’ as if the boys that we got were dolls or something.” Kara explained. “You were to get married to him…I see.” Kakashi replied. “Kakashi, Obito was everything to me.” Kara mumbled, lying down. Kakashi lied down next to Kara and looked her in the eyes. “Come here.” Kakashi said, brining Kara to his chest. Kara closed her eyes and soon started snoring. She had fallen asleep as soon as her head had hit Kakashi’s chest. After about twenty minutes Kakashi was still awake, stroking Kara’s long black hair and staring at the ceiling thinking about what Kara had said about her going to marry Obito.
The next morning Kara and Kakashi woke up at the same time. Kara stared in Kakashi’s grey and red eyes. “Thank you.” Kara whispered, leaning in and kissing Kakashi on the end of the nose. “Anything for my best friend.” Kakashi replied hugging Kara. Kara sat up and swung her legs out of bed. “Come on, I have to go back home. My parents must be worried about me.” “You’re twenty-one and still live with your parents?” Kakashi asked. “Well, I can’t exactly leave yet.” Kara replied. “Why not?” Kakashi asked. “My mother recently came down with a terrible case of the flu and can’t work anymore so I’m helping her.” Kara replied. Kara walked over to the small closet in her guest room and took out a couple of clothes. “Could you excuse me for a minute or two?” Kara asked. Kakashi nodded and got up. After closing the door he walked down the hall towards his kitchen. Kakashi started cooking some breakfast. About ten minutes later Kara walked out with her over-night items packed up and ready to go. “I made you some breakfast.” Kakashi mumbled. “Thanks Kakashi.” Kara mumbled.
Kara was walking towards the Uchiha District when she noticed that there were a bunch of police standing in front of the Uchiha District. “Excuse me, but what is going on here?” Kara asked one of the police members. “There was a massive massacre of the Uchiha clan last night. Only two members survived.” The police member said. “Only two members?” Kara asked. “Yes, Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha.” The police man replied. “Make that three members who survived.” Kara mumbled. “Who is the third?” The police man asked, taking out a note book and pencil. “Kara Uchiha.” Kara replied. The police man looked at Kara and looked down at his notebook. “And how would you know if this Care-a-” “My name is Kara! Car-a.” Kara said, interrupting the police man. “Right, sorry. And how would you know if this Kara Uchiha survived the massacre?” The police man asked. “Because I am Kara Uchiha and as far as I’m concerned I’m still among the living.” Kara replied, folding her arms. All of a sudden a figure landed behind Kara and crouched down. The person’s face was hidden in a shadow and the person said, “Well, if you want we can always change that.” “Sango, it has been quiet some time since I last saw you.” Kara said, not moving, but looking over the police man’s shoulder at the Uchiha District’s gates. “Kara.” The figure said quietly. “I see that you returned from your mission successfully. But, as you can see, you won’t be able to return home.” Kara said, still not turning to look at the girl. “So I see. Who did this?” Sango asked.
“Itachi,” was Kara’s only reply. “Hmm…Now where am I supposed to stay?” Sango asked, getting up and walking over to stand next to Kara. “You could stay with Kakashi. I’ll go see Iruka, maybe he’ll let me stay with him.” Kara said thoughtfully. “Like Kakashi Hatake would really allow me stay in his house.” Sango said, rolling her eyes. “Kakashi! Kakashi!” Kara yelled, waving to the silver haired shinobi who was walking up behind Kara and Sango. “Oh, I didn’t know that you would be stopping by to check this out, Kakashi.” Sango said, turning to look at Kakashi. “Yes, well, since most of my friends are from the Uchiha clan I wanted to see if anyone other then Kara made it out alive.” Kakashi mumbled to Sango. Kara walked past Sango and Kakashi. Kara stopped at Kakashi and placed her hand on Kakashi’s shoulder. “Please help Sango; even if she doesn’t wish to admit it, she’s really hurting.” Kara whispered. “Where are you going?” Kakashi asked. “I’ve got to talk to Iruka. I’ll be back at you’re house later and check on you and Sango.” Kara mumbled. Kara walked away from Kakashi towards the academy, where the bells were just ringing for class to start. As Kara walked onto the grounds of the academy she noticed a little boy with black hair and black eyes and pale skin walking sulkily towards the academy. Kara half-smiled and quickened her pace, coming up behind the boy. “Sasuke! Sasuke Uchiha!” The boy turned around and looked at Kara. He smiled and ran towards Kara, shouting, “Cousin Kara!” Kara picked up Sasuke and smiled, looking into his eyes. “Hi there Sasuke. How are you going?” “Not so good Kara…Did you hear that every one was killed last night?” Sasuke asked, his eyes starting to water up. “Don’t start crying baby Sasuke…You have class right now, don’t you? I’ll go with you today, okay?” Kara asked, putting a fake smile on. “Okay!” Sasuke said happily. Kara put Sasuke done and took his hand. “So, where are you going to stay now that you don’t have any where?” “I don’t know, can I stay with you Kara!?” Sasuke asked. “I don’t know, I’ll think about it Sasuke.” Kara replied. Sasuke ran forwards a little bit to his classroom and opened the door. “Sasuke Uchiha, why are you late?” A man’s voice asked. Kara walked up to the door and notice that Sasuke was already sitting down at his desk. Kara leaned in the door and smiled, “Sorry, but Sasuke being late was my doing.” Iruka looked at the door and smiled at Kara. “Miss Uchiha, this is an unexpected surprise. I thought that you would be spending most of your day today working on the Uchiha Massacre case.” Iruka said. “Yes, well, I can’t exactly say that I’m needed there, considering the fact that I was at Kakashi’s last night.” Kara said, walking into the classroom. “Now, I don’t mean to be a walk-in teacher, but should you be getting back to your class?” Iruka blushed a little and rubbed the back of his head, “Yeah right…Um, class, this is my friend Kara Uchiha, her and I will be stepping outside to talk for a minute. Please read your assignment on the board and when I come back in I would like you to have it completed.” Iruka stepped out into the hall with Kara and closed the door behind her. Kara leaned in and kissed Iruka. “I need a place to stay with Sasuke, and until I can get all my personal affects from my house, I’m out of money.” Kara said. “Kara, I don’t know if I can take both you and Sasuke.” Iruka said, putting his hands on Kara’s upper arms. “Then what are we going to do with the boy?” Kara asked. “Who were the other survivors?” Iruka asked. “Why can’t they take him?” “Because one of them was Sango and she’s staying with Kakashi and you and I both know how much they dislike having kids. And the other survivor is Itachi. Itachi was the one that killed every one.” Kara whispered. Kara did a fake pout and she leaned in a kissed Iruka on the nose and batted her eyelashes. “You are the worse flirt that I’ve ever met.” Iruka said, laughing. “Yeah, well when you come from the Uchiha clan you really don’t need to be a flirt.” Kara mumbled. “Alright, I’ll allow both you and Sasuke to live with me, but only until either one of you wants to move out.” Iruka said, sighing. “Ah! Thank you so much Iruka!” Kara said, jumping up and hugging Iruka around the neck.
Five Years Later
“Hurry up Iruka! Or you’ll be late to the academy!” Kara shouted through the house towards the bedroom that held the sleeping dolphin. When Kara didn’t get a reply from Iruka, Kara set down the wooden spoon that she was holding and walked back towards the bedroom that she shared with Iruka. Kara stood in the door frame watching Iruka sleeping. “IRUKA!” Kara shouted, arousing the Chunin from his sleep. Iruka fell on the ground and looked up at Kara, who had pulled her now short, red hair up with bobby pins and holding onto a wooden spoon. “What is it?” Iruka asked sleepily. “Time for you to get up and get ready for school…” Kara mumbled, folding her arms. “School? But Kara, I’m already out of school.” Iruka mumbled, getting up and walking towards the closet. “Yes, but you’re not done teaching at the academy.” Kara said, walking over and sitting on the end of the bed. “Besides, you have to hurry up and get to the academy so you can start the graduation exams.” “Oh! That’s right the exams!” Iruka said, turning to look at Kara. “You forgot about the exams?! Wow you are worse then at Uzumaki kid.” Kara said, shaking her head. Kara stood up and walked into the kitchen. Sasuke had already put his bowl in the sink and was sitting in the living room reading something. Kara walked in and hugged Sasuke. “Baby Sasuke, are you nervous about today?” Kara asked. “Not really. I’m a great Shinobi…Unlike that boy, Naruto.” Sasuke said. “You’ll do great today. I’m really proud of you Sasuke.” Kara said, kissing the side of Sasuke’s head. “Thank you cousin Kara.” Sasuke said. “Not a problem.” Kara said, walking into the kitchen again. Iruka was sitting at the table, with papers all over the top. “Here.” Kara said, setting Iruka’s breakfast in front of him. “Eat first, work second.” Kara said, kissing the top of Iruka’s head. “Thank you Kara.” Iruka said, starting to eat. Kara smiled one last time before she walked into her bed room. Kara sat down on the corner of the bed again and sighed again. It had been five years since the Uchiha Massacre. Five years ago today. Thirteen years ago today. They just happen to fall on the exact same day…Yeah, I can deal with that. Kara thought, watching the mirror across the room from her. Kara’s long black hair had been cut about a half a year ago and died a dark red. Kara also started wearing contacts (because she hated her glasses) that changed her black eyes into dark navy blue eyes. ((Naruto fan-fiction, I am a total dork.))

She couldn't believe that after all the years the letter had found its way to her. She remembered writing to him so long ago. When she never received a reply she had given up hope. That's why she had settled with a loveless marriage. She had a marriage more based on friendship than anything else. Her husband seemed to know she would never love him. He had grown to despise her. Divorce wasn't an option for either of them though. So they were stuck with each other for better or worse. Now she wasn't so sure.
While rifling through a few boxes in the attic she had come across the letter. Numbly she realized the page was beginning to get wet. Only then did she understand she was crying. After all the years of loneliness and letting her husband walk all over her she had found what he had hid. She didn't know how he had gotten it but there it was right in front of her. It was well worn like her husband had read it over and over as the years went by. He had probably thought it was a form of punishment on her behalf and he made sure to deliver. Only now did she know why he had turned so hateful.
Could she leave her husband? Would he take her after all these years? So many questions ran through her mind. A noise from behind her warned her of another presence in the room. Without looking up she asked why. He couldn't reply. He knew she would know why. He couldn't handle rejection not after he had wanted her for so long. He had gotten her under false pretenses. Now she had to decide what to do. He left when she wouldn't respond to him. It was best...she had to do something.
After a couple of hours she got up as the moon winked at her. Things would never be the same after this. What was to come would cause everyone to turn on her especially her closest friends. From the distance she saw what she had been waiting to see. A large black owl flew towards the house. Opening the window she waited for it. Once she had removed the missive the owl perched itself on a box to await her reply. Before she opened the parchment she took a deep breath this letter could have the power to break her. Upon opening it and reading the short note happy tears welled up in her eyes. She was finally free.
The letter: Hermione, I've waited for you. Our love is genuine. I will do everything in my power to finally make you mine.
Draco
(Yeah I know stupid but I thought I would try. Can you guess who the husband is? How did he get the letter? lol)
