Huntington Beach, it was one of the most relaxing in California. It had girls, sand, water, and awesome waves, in other words it was pretty much heaven to most guys. Sitting at on a hill of sand near the water, sat a boy near the age 17. The boy looked out at the water and sun which was setting on the horizon. He had been doing the same thing the last few hours, thinking. He hadn’t built a sandcastle, flirted with any girls, or even taken a dip in the cool water.
Kenneth didn’t do this often; actually he had never done it before. He never had the time to go the beach and just think. Seeing a few light gray clouds which were the same colors as his eyes, he still didn’t move. If there was a tornado coming, he wouldn’t have moved. Not because he wanted to die or anything drastic like that, but because he was too consumed in his thoughts to notice.
Who knew that a son of Athena would have so many problems he couldn’t solve? He thought to himself and smirked. Yes, he was a son of the Greek goddess Athena. Although nobody besides his family knew, he felt as if everybody wouldn’t be surprised if he told them. He had always been the top of his classes and did excellent on assignments.
Kenneth sat there and sighed. So much was on his mind. His girlfriend who was thinking about moving back to Seattle to live with her father for a year or two, his little sister, Ashley who was having a difficult time at school, and most importantly his grandfather who was going to die in a couple of months. He covered his face with his hands and took several deep breathes. Life was never easy, but he could never say that it was hard either. He had some bad times like the one he was experiencing at the moment, but he had a lot of good times too.
Walking nearer to the water, he took off his American Eagle shirt and started to walk into the water. He started swimming faster and faster. Even though he had lots of AP classes, he always found the time to play sports and manage a social life unlike lot of his friends. The water soothed him and it felt as if the water washed away all his troubles but the bad thing, was that once he got out, all his troubles would come back. He had swum a bit too far. Turning around to swim back to the beach, he thought about why he should go back. Not many people besides his family and a couple of his friends would notice but that was enough to make him go back.
Completely exhausted when he reached the beach, he laid his wet body onto the beach’s cool sand. His heart raced, he had never swum that much in a day before. He knew that the next day, he would probably ache all over since he wasn’t used to swimming that far. Grabbing his dark blue towel, he dried his hair. He grabbed his red American eagle shirt and put if on his shoulder on top of his towel.
Passing a few hot girls in bikinis, he smiled. Waking to his Chevvy Avalanche that he had gotten from his dad for his sixteenth birthday, Kenneth’s thoughts flooded back into his mind. Ignoring them, he sat in the driver’s seat, started up the white truck, and started to drive. Since there was so much on his mind, he didn’t pay attention to the street lights and ran a red light. He had done it several times before and never gotten a ticket, so he didn’t really care. Then BAM! A light green Honda Accord slammed into the driver’s side of his car, in other words, it ran right into him!
We all know how people say that at certain moments, “Your life flashes before you,” Well, that was what happened with him, he saw something like a slideshow from his past to his present. There was his first birthday cake, when he learned to ride a bike, and crap like that. Then it turned black, the thoughts which were running through his head when he ran the red light turned to nothing.
Then he heard a voice, a familiar voice, it said “Wake up you dimwit.” He had forgotten whose voice it was, so made no urge to open his eyes. Then he heard another familiar voice that said “You know, you shouldn’t talk to your older brother like that.” He recognized the voice as his girlfriend, Hailey’s voice. Once he recognized it, he slowly opened up his eyes. “Hailey?” He said barely above a whisper. “Oh, you say her name but not mine? What a jerk,” said his sister Ashley. “Well if you didn’t call me a dimwit, I might have said your name first.” He replied smirking. “What? Would you rather have me call you ‘The guy that almost died’?” Ashley snapped back. “Please don’t let this turn into something it's not,” He said in a rather mean tone. Ashley raised an eyebrow and asked “And that is?” “Your funeral.” He said laughing.
Laughing caused him to start coughing, so he stopped. Kenneth wouldn’t have really killed his sister no matter how much she bugged him. Even when he didn’t show it, he loved her a lot. Hailey stood up and said “Guys, stop fighting.” They both stopped when she told them to as if she had this magical power over them. Hailey walked over and kissed him on the lips passionately. “Ew, get a room,” Said his little sister Ashley. “We have a room, now get out of it.” He said jokingly.
“So what happened?” He asked. “What do you mean?” asked Hailey who was sitting the edge of his hospital bed. “What happened that is making me stay in the hospital?” he asked her. Then a nurse wearing a pink uniform and answered before Hailey could speak, “You got off lucky, most people wouldn’t have had survived the crash but since you had one of the newer cars, the airbag saved you. You might be experiencing some pains in your back but those will probably go away in a month or two. You just have to stay in the hospital for a few more days so we can finish up some tests,” He nodded as the nurse started to leave the room.
[[It doesn’t really work with the quote and it’s kind of out of randomness, so sorry.]]

It looks like everyone else was too intimidated, Michael. (Yeah, I still call you Michael, even though you have a lot more characters now). First place goes to Professor Burton (50 HP). Congrats!
