Love is Like Cake

Love is like cake,
No, not its taste, its components!
Flour for the countless days spent together,
Water for the life flowing between,
Eggs for our two intelligent brains,
Sugar for the sweetness that brightens our lives,
Cinnamon to spice everything up,
A cake is just like love!

Take a bite here, take a bite there,
Frosting or cake, both taste unique.
We lead separate lives yet are entwined to be one.
Same with a cake.
Depending on where you bite, it has different tastes
People all see it as one thing though,
Since no cake is complete without frosting
And my life is empty without you in it.

Love is like cake,

A splash of salt for our occasional arguments
Butter to meld us together after that,
Mix it all together, pour it into
A round metal pan that is the two of us relying on each other,
Then the heat of the oven for our passion.
Isn't that interesting?

Then when you decorate the cake,
You decorate it with frosting,
Your memories of today and hopes of tomorrow
A fanning of strawberries prevents anger's temper from getting too hot
Then the final icing is what keeps everything bright day by day
Keeping everything unique and always special.

So many different kinds of cake, which one fits us?
Wedding cakes, angel cakes, white cakes, chocolate, layer, or marble?
So many tastes, which one is us?
Let's choose, shall we?
Today we can be an angel cake, tomorrow we can be a layer cake.
That's what I love about cakes, there's such a huge variety
And there are so many ingredients in each one.
It's interesting, isn't it?
Each ingredient by itself has no meaning,
Add it all together, something wonderful is created.
