I have fallen in love many times, but this has been the strangest yet. Last summer, I went to a cottage up north with my friends. Great scenery, especially since that we had an early autumn. It was mid-August and the leaves were already turning red. In the morning, we would take a walk through a forest which was nearby. Each step was followed by the crunching of the leaves under our feet. We could barely see the ground by the time it got to the end of the trip.
We stayed up there for two weeks. There was a lake just outside our back door, which we swam in a few times. Like I said, it was an early Autumn. The lake was as cold as ice, but we enjoyed it as it was. We didn't go swimming every day, but sometimes we did at night before we went to bed.
By the end of the trip, we had a collection of leaves on our kitchen table. We all had collected a few during our walks, but most of them were brown. There were only a couple that still had colour in them. They had just been put there in the last couple of days before we left.
It doesn't matter who I went with on my trip. It was the experience of being there with the swirling of leaves falling around me. I know that I have neglected to tell you who came with me on my trip. It doesn't matter. I could tell you that one of them was my best friend Bethany and that we got in a huge fight before we left. I could tell you that I hadn't seen two of them for five years until we went on this trip. It wouldn't matter either way because the trip was more than that. It wasn't just the group of us having fun being away from our careers and drama that infects the city every day.
I fell in love with the world. There's something special about the world that I never saw before. I was stuck inside the city for fifteen years, ever since I was a small child. I never had a chance to see past the smog and the rush of getting to work. There's so much more than that, and that's why I'm here, telling you all this. You need to understand as much as I did that there's more to the world than the exchange of money and buying the biggest house and having the best cars. Come with me to my cottage in the north and I'll show you...

I have fallen in love I think like once in my life. I don't mean like I when I was five and I loved everyone...but I have truly fallen in love. It was two years ago, when the people across the street were moving out. The new family that had bought the house hadn't been seen around that neighborhood before, but their last name sounder fermilar...Havic. Where had I heard that name before? I asked myself one morning as I sat in my front lawn. My sister had been talking about how the new family was going to come today, and I wanted to be the first one to see them.
It was around one when the car pulled up. I was in the military and was reading over one of my reports when I heard someone asked "Trinity Gilsim, is that you?"
I sighed and said, "I'm defently not Amealia Earheart. What can I help you with?"
"Nothing, I was justing looking for my friend." I looked up and saw my friend from the old military office, Jean Havic.
"JEAN!" I shouted jumping up and running to him. "You are looking pretty strong!" I laughed as Jean lifted me up and hugged me. "You have to be strong to pick me up!" I said in between laughs.
The next thing I remebered was sitting in Jean's father's car under a blanket talking to Jean. "I'm glad to see that the Colornel hasn't kept you locked up in that office. I have missed you so much!" He said pulling me into a hug.
"When did you get transfered back here? I mean, it's been two years now!" I said letting him pull on me. "And if the Colornel tried to keep me longer then normal I would have done more then have kicked him."
That's when I remember falling in love...not as an attraction to Jean, but I fell in love with us, our friendship, our jokes, and our protection of each other. Jean and I had been the best of friends when he was station at the same outpost as me, and now we were the best of friends living across the street from each other. How much better could life had gotten?

Last year was the year that my sister and friend was killed in that fight between some of the people in her patoon. I had been home with Trinity and Tammy when I heard about Taylor being shot and killed. I guess that Taylor had tried to kill her nine best friends, including Anna Marie, our mother's friend. Anna Marie had been shot in a fight at Headquarters about ten minutes before Taylor was killed. That night I had been pissed off at every one, and didn't talk much.
One of the things that my friend Jorden told me was "Don't hate people, love them instead. You can't let the lost of one person make your life and other's lives a living hell." I knew that loving people would be hard...excpecially those who had helped kill Taylor: Ellen, Roy, and Mary Ann. Was I supposed to love them too? And if I was, how?
"I don't think that you understand Jorden, they killed Taylor," I told Jorden over a bottle of whiskey one night. "Tell me how am I to love them?"
"They killed Taylor because she tried to kill Anna Marie, Devon, Alphonse, and Jean. You can love them I know that you can. You loved them before didn't you?" Jorden asked looking down at me. I smiled back up at her and nodded.
"I guess your right Jorden. I can't be pissed off at them for them trying to save nine people. And if they had given Taylor a trial, she would have been convicted and killed anyways." I sighed and looked down at the bar. Taylor....you idiot.

I have fallen in love with people before, but I never thought that I would fall in love with things before. What I had really loved was my legs and my left eye, but those were taken away from me about two months ago.
As I was brought into the hospital ward I could hear Jean tell Roy that he could no longer help him with his plans because he couldn't move his legs. My left hand was over most of the left side of my face, and only a little bit of where was hit showed through. My fancy dress was ruined, blood didn't look all that great on it. The nurse put me down in the third and final bed in the ward and everyone looked at me. I could only see them out of my right eye, which was bad in the first place.
"Hey there guys. How are you?" I asked horsely. I was really weak at the moment and had been forced to lay down. "I'm glad to see everyone's still alive." I countinued.
"What happened to you!?" Roy asked coming over to my bed and sitting down.
"I don't know. One minute I was fighting Kimbly, and the next I awoke here." I told him truthfully.
The nurse hugged her clipboard and looked like she was going to cry. "I'm sorry Colonel Sparks, but you lost both of your legs, and most of the left part of your face was destoryed. You'll be looking like that scared man, only you'll never be able to see out of your left eye again."
"Damn it." I whispered and I started crying. Tears only came out of my right eye, while blood came out of my left. "I can't retire now."
Three days later Jean and Roy got in a fight about wither Jean should retire. "What do you expect me to do with these legs?"
I had started crying and before Roy could reply I answered "At least you still have legs, and still can possibly walk again." I then started crying. "I'll never have that option again. My brain has stopped sending signals to my legs, now I can't even move my stubs." I was trying to be strong, but I could anymore, I just couldn't.
"So that means that fake limbs would be impossible for you and me both." Jean said crying with me.
I looked up and smiled, not feeling any better, I would never be able to see out of my left eye again, and I could never walk again. I had poor sight in my right eye and was deaf in my left ear from birth. I had loved climbing mountains on my days off, and now I couldn't even work in the military again. I had loved working in the military, but now I was a retiered Colonel with no legs.
I have "loved" a great many of people, but I only truely love me...and my full body.
